Olivia's POV
Lying on the floor, I felt utterly helpless. Luckily, the pain soon subsided.
Tears started to cloud my eyes as a deep sense of betrayal washed over me.
Despite it being my first time feeling the pain, I knew what caused it—my mate had been staying by Emily's side, probably acting intimately.
Just like how Emily kissed Marsh earlier today.
In the werewolf world, when your mate snogged someone else after marking and claiming you, you'd experience such intense pain.
It was like an alarm from the Moon Goddess.
If they got physical, I could be in for even worse torture.
I'd heard cases of werewolves who got weak and ended up losing their wolves because their mates had cheated on them.
If I kept turning a blind eye, it was only a matter of time before that tragedy befell me.
Making up my mind, I made my way to the bathroom and freshened up.
When I stepped out, Beta Jeffrey approached me, saying, "Luna Olivia, Alpha Justin wants you to meet him in the reception room."
"Where's Marsh? I wanna talk to him," I asked.
"Alpha Marsh's in the reception room with Emily," he told me, a sympathetic look on his face.
Quelling my distress, I walked to the reception room.
Alpha Justin, Marsh's grandfather, was sitting on the right, while Marsh and Emily were on the left.
A wave of sadness surged within me as I noticed how their fingers intertwined.
I was so madly in love with him, going all out just so he could reach the apex of his career. And now, he was cheating on me in my face.
"You fool!" Alpha Justin exclaimed, snapping me back to reality.
He then hurled his coffee cup at me, hot coffee splattering all over my body.
I couldn't help but cry out in pain.
"What kind of Luna are you?" he hissed while glaring at me.
"Why are you doing this to me? I didn't do anything wrong," I calmly shot back. "The one you were supposed to punish is Marsh. He flirted with Emily in public!"
Alpha Justin shot a furious look at Marsh. "Are you waiting for me to tell her what she's done wrong?!"
Marsh immediately snapped, "We've got other packs' Alphas and Lunas here for the ceremony, and you just disgraced our pack by pushing Emily!"
"I didn't push her! And what right have you got to accuse me? You're the one shaming our pack, Mr. Adulterer!"
"Enough!" Alpha Justin slapped the table and stood up. "Marsh, I want this mess sorted out."
With that, he stormed out.
Marsh turned and roared at me, "You think pulling this stunt's gonna make me leave Emily? Nice try!"
"Marsh," Emily whispered, "please stop lashing out at her. She's doing it just because she loves you. It's my fault. I shouldn't have come here."
Then she stood up and walked over to me, saying in a choked voice, "Luna Olivia, I know you don't like me, but I gotta clarify one thing, I wouldn't have been here if I had a choice. I guess you've heard Marsh and I used to be in love, right? As my ex, he couldn't stand seeing me disrespected and mistreated in the Moonshadow Pack. That's why he brought me back."
"If you truly loved him, you should leave of your own accord. Coz it's best for him to stay with me, his mate," I scoffed.
"Don't you dare make her leave," Marsh snarled at me while unleashing his Alpha aura, attempting to dominate me.
Elara was showing her fangs, pushing back against him.
This clash was sheer torture to both of our wolves.
Marsh must feel this torture as well. He stopped and frowned at me, "I wanna talk to you. Come here."
Before following him into the adjacent room, I glanced back, only to see Emily sneering.
Marsh closed the door and locked eyes with me, saying, "Why are you always going after Emily? If you apologize to her, I'll treat you the same as before."
"Why would I? I've done nothing wrong!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. "Are you deaf or something?"
"Olivia!" he bellowed, his face twisted with rage, his eyes flashing a golden gleam.
I knew his wolf was pissed because I disrespected the Alpha.
"I'm your Luna! The mate the Moon Goddess selected for you! And we're moon blessed! How can you do this to me?" I sobbed, tears streaming down my face.
"Even if Emily stays, you'll still be my Luna and my mate," he said, pulling me close.
I wanted to push him away, but my wolf wouldn't let me.
She just craved her mate's touch.
Our bond drew us together, rendering my resistance in vain.
I could feel his body heating up, and both he and his wolf wanted me.
But here? Seriously?
My senses told me that I should hate this cheater.
Just as I was fighting back my desire, there was a knock at the door. And before I could react, it swung open.
Emily stood there covering her mouth, tears pouring down her cheeks.
"I'm so sorry. I can't help it," she choked out. "Marsh, I just realized that I had never gotten over you. But I guess it's too late. I'll get out of here."
"No, wait." Marsh immediately let go of me, ready to go get her back.
"If you're gonna go after her, then reject me," I said calmly.
I was completely disillusioned. I had to leave him, even though it might weaken my wolf.
"What did you just say?" Marsh glared at me, fuming. "I'm not gonna reject you, but you better learn to be a decent Luna instead of some jealous idiot!"
With that, he ran out to catch up with Emily, leaving me stunned in the room.
I froze, a bitter smile curving my lips.
I'd been dedicating myself to the Dawn Pack ever since I became Marsh's mate. Yet now, all I got in return were betrayal and humiliation. And I didn't even have a friend to talk to. Pathetic, wasn't it?
As I walked out the door, dejected, I ran into Beta Jeffrey.
"Alpha Marsh said you needed to repent of your sin, so he asked me to lock you up in the basement."
Olivia's POVThe heavy iron gate slowly slammed shut behind me.The thud of metal echoed in the basement, like a final verdict on my fate.Chill air rose from the ground, sending shivers down my spine as goosebumps rose on my skin.Just when I thought I was gonna be alone in the dark forever, I heard footsteps approaching.Beta Jeffrey showed up holding a dim oil lamp, the flickering light dancing on his stern face.I looked up at him, a glimmer of hope welling up inside me."Jeffrey," I called out, my voice echoing in the empty cell, "you know I'm innocent, right?"He avoided my gaze, a helpless look on his face."Luna Olivia, I..." he hesitated, clearly torn between loyalty and justice."Please get me outta here," I pleaded, my voice shaking a bit. "This isn't right."His eyes showed sympathy, but it was soon replaced by determination."Luna Olivia, I'm sorry, but I can't defy the Alpha." His voice was low, laced with a hint of helplessness. And just like that, I was left alone in t
Olivia's POVI froze, unable to believe what I just heard."Could you be more ridiculous? If it weren't for me, he would've been more severely injured, idiot," I shot back, my voice dripping with sarcasm.Emily wrapped her arms around Marsh's waist, her head resting on his chest."Marsh didn't need you. They were just about to kick those nasty rogues out before you got here," she choked out, yet her gaze at me was defiant."I said that to you because I was worried about Marsh. Why did you humiliate me?"I glanced over at Marsh, hoping he would defend me. After all, I had just saved him.If I hadn't lunged at that rogue, he would be suffering from more than just a shoulder wound.Yet, there wasn't a hit of gratitude in his eyes, only anger and disappointment.Facing all shifters from the Dawn Pack, he snapped in a cold voice, "Olivia, you're still grounded, yet you ran out without my permission and even caused chaos during the battle."I stared at him, rage boiling inside me."I did al
Olivia's POVAnger and disappointment toward Marsh devoured me.When I finally found him, he was in the middle of trying on a new suit under the service of an Omega. He looked dashing, yet I wasn't in the mood to admire his charm.A hint of unease flashed across his face as soon as he saw me, but he quickly regained his composure."What are you doing here?" he asked."I'm here to ask what you're prepping for," I cut to the chase as I had run out of patience. He avoided my gaze, snapping, "None of your business.""Is that so?" I sneered, "The pack tailor met up with Emily today. I heard he was making her an evening gown. What's that about?""Watch your tone! I am your Alpha!" he snapped. Then he waved his hand. The Omega got the hint and left with the suit.Instead of answering my question, he impatiently pushed me away, trying to leave."Are you getting ready for Alpha Zander's dinner party?" I kept pressing.Marsh took a deep breath, finally admitting, "Yeah. Alpha Zander's throwing
Olivia's POVI ignored him.The party got even livelier as Alpha Zander's deep and authoritative voice sounded again."However, I'll only pick one main partner for this project. And that's exactly why I'm here. To scope out and choose the right fit."I noticed Marsh's face turned sour, a hint of anxiety flashing in his eyes.Apparently, he was eager to get in on this deal with Alpha Zander. But the awkward greeting he just pulled didn't do him any favors.Literally, he himself threw a rare chance down the drain. I guessed he must rack his brains trying to make up for it.The guests around me were still engaged in heated discussion. After all, the collaboration with Alpha Zander would bring them anything they wanted—wealth, power, status, etc.Just then, an Alpha around Marsh's age stood up.He took his date's hand and approached Alpha Zander, introducing himself, "Nice to meet you, Alpha Zander. I'm Raymond, and this is Avila, my mate, and the one and only Luna of my pack."He stresse
Olivia's POVAs Alpha Zander's voice just fell, I heard the guests gasp in surprise.Marsh's face darkened. Clearly, he wasn't expecting Alpha Zander to back me up in public.Emily froze, the smirk dying on her lips."Well, Alpha Zander—" Marsh stammered, trying to explain, but Alpha Zander just waved his hand, signaling him not to continue."I've made myself pretty clear," said Alpha Zander, his voice dripping with authority.Emily squeezed out her reluctant apology through gritted teeth, "Since that's the case, I'll apologize for what I've done."With that, she walked toward me with her wine glass in hand.Noticing the flicker of annoyance in her eyes, I took a step back, but it was too late. She had pretended to trip over her dress and spilled the wine all over my white gown. The crisp sound of the glass shattering on the floor made the crowd kick up a low buzz of surprise. The deep red stains on the white fabric stood out, like a pristine canvas marred by a sudden, violent stroke
Olivia's POVMy thoughts were a whirlwind as I left the lounge.Alpha Zander's offer had caught me completely off guard.I gotta make a choice, but it wasn't easy. With heavy steps, I descended the stairs and paused at the landing.I called out to my wolf, trying to discuss with me about what had happened."Elara, what do you think about Alpha Zander's offer? As long as we become his Luna for a year, we'll get our freedom and power back," I whispered. After a moment, Elara's voice sounded in my mind, sounding a bit raspy."I'm not sure, Olivia. Marsh is our mate. Perhaps we should figure out a way to win him back instead of leaving with someone else.""I used to have the same idea, and I've tried. But he's clearly obsessed with Emily. And I don't wanna waste my time on an unfaithful mate," I sighed."Have you thought it through? If we reject Marsh, we might not get a second chance mate."Marsh's blatant betrayal and our weakening mating bond had left my wolf weak and insecure.I sooth
Olivia's POVMorning light slipped through the gaps in the curtains, gently caressing my face.I awoke from my bed, immediately feeling a pang of hunger. So much had happened last night. I'd only had a couple of drinks and barely eaten anything. Now, this emptiness in my stomach urged me to get up.After freshening up, I made my way to the packhouse's dining area.Entering the dining hall, I hoped to find some solace from my acquaintances in the pack, but what greeted me was indifference. The guards who had fought alongside me carried trays past me.They merely glanced my way, one of them offering a slight nod.None of them initiated a greeting. The respect they once held for me was gone.I knew it was because of Marsh. His affair with Emily had hurt not only our mating bond but also my prestige within the pack.I walked into the dining area where an Omega was busy flipping eggs behind the buffet counter, spreading butter on toast.I approached with a smile. "Could you please give me
Zander's POVFrom Olivia's reaction when she saw me at the dinner party, I knew she thought it was the first time we'd met.I read shock and confusion in her bewildered expression. But actually, we'd crossed paths before, not at some meticulously planned event, but by sheer chance. The moment I first saw her was etched indelibly in my memory. It was at a werewolf school in Los Angeles, a place that groomed future leaders of wolf packs.Olivia stood out even among a crowd of exceptional students. Her beauty and charm were hard to resist. My wolf felt a strong pull towards her.Every time I got close to Olivia, my wolf seemed more excited. But if that was the attraction between a pair of destined mates, then why didn't Olivia feel the same about me?She only saw me as a stranger who went to the same school as her, which made me uncomfortable. However, that was only part of the reason I didn't approach her.I stayed away because I was afraid.I was certain I'd lose control around her, wh
