Leah's Pov
The following morning, as I sat in the dining room, waiting for Axel to come home, my mind raced with thoughts of reasoning things out with him. Perhaps he would reconsider; after all, I couldn't fathom leaving behind a marriage that I had grown so accustomed to over the years. My contemplation was suddenly interrupted by the honking of a car outside. I quickly rose and was shocked to see Axel walk in with a lady.Axel was 199cm tall, towering over the room, and was dressed in a casual white sweater paired with black pants. His eyes, blue as the ocean, gave him an unparalleled allure. The lady standing beside him, despite appearing slightly unwell, radiated a quiet beauty. At 160cm tall, her hair flowed down her waist like a waterfall, and she was wearing a white knee-length gown. As Axel gently guided her into the house, they looked like a match made in heaven."Axel," I called out, my eyes brimming with tears. Watching the man I had shared a bed with, caring for another lady was a heart-wrenching experience.Axel and the lady, whom I guessed was Louisiana due to her pale complexion, looked at me.Louisiana smiled and said, "Oh, you must be Leah," as she slowly walked towards me. "Axel told me a lot about you." I looked past her and towards Axel, who looked away, fondling with the luggage in his hand, his thoughts unknown.Louisiana continued, "Thank you so much, Leah, for caring for Axel all these years. Hope you don't mind me staying here for a short period. I had wanted to go back to my condo, but Axel," she paused, looking at Axel playfully, "insisted I come here. He has always been worried about me since we were little."My ears stung as I continued listening to Louisiana speak about her and Axel's relationship. Axel sighed and held her waist, saying, "You must be tired, Lousi. Let's go upstairs so you can rest." Louisiana playfully hit his shoulders and bid me farewell before ascending the staircase with Axel.As they went up, I suddenly blurted out the question that had been bothering me, "Axel," I called out. Axel paused in his footsteps but didn't turn back. I continued, "Are you sure you don't love me?" Axel turned back and said coldly, "I don't" Axel's cold words pierced through me. "What happened between us was merely an agreement, and that agreement has come to an end."I felt broken. The last ounce of hope I held onto had been shattered. Axel wasn't done yet. He continued, "You can pack your things and leave. Louisiana needs to recuperate properly without disturbance."My fists tightened around my gown. Was I disturbing Louisiana?I looked at Axel, tears brimming in my eyes, and slowly nodded my head as I made my way to the door, hoping that Axel would call me back. 1... 2... 3..."Wait" Axel said.My heart leaped to my throat as I turned around sharply, thinking excitedly to myself, "See, Axel still loves me."Axel looked at me calmly and said, "Leah, Louisiana will be staying in the master bedroom. You forgot to pack your things. I don't want memories of you still lingering there, Miss Leah Thompson."His words felt like a knife through my heart. Memories of me? I wasn't used to being called by my maiden name by Axel; it hurt so much that my tears threatened to spill.I looked at Axel and slowly said, "I didn't bring anything with me when I came, so I am not taking anything away with me." I steeled my heart, realizing that Axel had never loved me from the beginning. "Besides, I don't want memories of you with me, Mr.....Axel.....Russo."Axel's gaze flickered, and it seemed like he was not expecting me to call him by his full name. But he quickly hid it and said harshly, "Then please leave."Suddenly, Louisiana spoke weakly, "Oh no, Axel. Don't talk to Leah that way." She walked towards me and said, "I am so sorry, Leah. Axel has always been so cold, but he didn't mean it." She held my hands and moved closer, whispering, "What he actually meant was that a lowlife like you can't be his wife."She stepped away from me and looked at me smugly,Anger welled up within me, and I pushed her away, making her land on the floor. "Oh!" Louisiana screamed, Axel was shocked and rushed to her side. "I'm so sorry, Axel," Louisiana said, tears in her eyes. "I'm sure Leah didn't mean it. She was just angry, that's all. Don't be angry, please."I waited for Axel's judgment. He clenched his fists and said, "Leah, please leave before I call security."Feeling a mix of emotions, I looked at them and walked away without saying another word.********It was already dusk by the time I arrived at City H. I stood in front of the rows of houses in the familiar neighborhood. Standing in front of a house, I pressed the doorbell. After a few moments, an elderly lady, her white hair parked in a bun and wearing gold-rimmed glasses, opened the door. It was my mother."Ma," I said in a trembling voice. Tears threatened to spill as she looked at me. "Leah!" she exclaimed happily, pulling me into a tight hug. I hugged her tightly, taking in the familiar aroma of freshly baked cheesecake emanating from her.it had been five whole years, seeing my mom again brings an undescribable joy into my heart. She dragged me inside and exclaimed, "Honey, honey, look who is here!"I felt my mother encircling me, asking questions excitedly, but I kept my quiet, unable to reply. "What's all the fuss, woman?" My dad said, holding a garden scissor as he walked into the living room and stared at me. "Pa," I said, silently greeting him.He dropped the scissors and clapped his hands, "You are back!" he said cheerfully, "See, woman? I told you the marriage wouldn't even last six years. It's just the fifth year and she is already back. I win the bet."I looked at my parents with sadness. I had married Axel, without my father's consent, and seeing that they had bet on the duration of my marriage, made me sad. I lowered my head and fiddled with the hem of my gown. My mom, sensing my discomfort, said, "Come on, Joseph, it was just a bet. You should welcome Leah home happily."My dad snorted and sat on his favorite peach sofa in the room. "Should I take drummers and dance around the whole province just because a daughter who got married without my consent came back?" My dad paused and eyed me.My mom sighed and sat beside me. "Joseph, you know that all she did was for you," she said, gently patting my head.My dad snorted and said, "Did I ask her to do it for me?"I felt heartbroken seeing my dad's nonchalant behavior. I had gotten married without his consent, but I had to do it to save my family. My mom lashed out at him and said angrily," Then she should have let you die and not do anything?!”My dad snorted again, this time placing his foot above the other, "Who told her to save me? Oh!" My dad rolled his eyes, "she wanted to play a guardian angel, protecting her child."My tears rolled down my eyes, "Pa," I said in a whisper, "I am sorry I left without bidding you goodbye.""Thank God you knew you left without bidding me goodbye," my dad snorted. My mom helped me to wipe my tears, "it's okay, baby," she said. She looked at my dad and scolded angrily, "Joseph, how can you be ungrateful to Leah? This child has been filial to you all her life. She dropped out of college after you lost your job and had to work so many part-time jobs just to care for the family. She had never been selfish with her money, and this house,"my mom paused and continued, "Leah bought it after working for two months non-stop at a summer camp downtown. She wanted us to have a home called our own. And you, Joseph," my mom stopped and pointed at my dad, "when you were diagnosed with heart disease and needed immediate treatment, Leah took the burden. She didn't even mind getting married to a total stranger and acting as a replacement for someone else just because they look alike. After being paid, she didn't even take a dime out of the money and paid for your surgery."My mom was already crying by now. My dad kept quiet, looking at me.My mom sat, placed her hands on her face, and sobbed, "she had to get married to a total stranger because of you."Dad sighed and said, "okay, I am sorry. He looked at me and said in a nonchalant manner. "Welcome home, Leah. May I ask what brought you here?"I looked at my dad and said in a whisper, "Louisiana is awake."Mom looked at me and asked, "Who the hell is Louisiana?"I replied, "She is Axel's childhood sweetheart. She got into an accident five years ago and was in a coma, so Axel had to get married to me so that he could keep his promise to Louisiana that he would wait for her and also get a strong foothold in the company, as the board of directors do not want a bachelor to lead the Russo Empire." i explained quietly. As my family absorbed this revelation, my dad nodded in understanding. "So your marriage was based on an agreement?" he concluded. I nodded quietly in response, acknowledging the truth of his words. My parents exchanged a knowing look, and my mom reached out to hold my hand, offering me reassurance. "It's okay, dear," she said, her voice filled with warmth. "That scumbag doesn't know what he lost.""Well," Mom said, edging closer to me. "Do you remember Michael?"I looked at them, feeling a sense of unease creeping in. "Who is Michael?" I asked, my concern growing.Dad replied eagerly, "Michael is your childhood friend. He just came back from America and is now a doctor. He's been asking after you ever since he came back five years ago."I nodded, recalling Michael from our childhood. Michael and I grew up in the same neighborhood and even attended the same high school. He left for the USA after high school to further his education, and we lost contact."Dad said dreamily, "Oh, you should see him now. So handsome, well-refined, gentle, and intelligent. Besides, he's good at playing chess."Mom and Dad continued praising Michael, and I finally understood where they were driving at. Gathering my thoughts, I took a deep breath before speaking, "Dad, Mom," I said."Yes, Leah," Mom said, blinking at me. "Will you consider him?" she asked me.I hesitated for a moment before calmly saying, "I am pregnant.""What?!!?" Dad and Mom exclaimed, wide-eyed.Five years laterLeah's Pov"I won't let you take my grandson away!" my dad screamed, his voice echoing through the room.I looked at my dad, feeling the weight of his resistance bearing down on me. "Dad," I called out calmly, "Jasper needs radiation therapy after his brain tumor surgery. The province doesn't have enough medical facilities, so they recommended us to take him to Country H."My dad snorted and muttered, "Wasn't it Country H where you met that man? Hmmph, I won't allow you to take my grandson away from me, even if I have to die."Turning to my mom, I exclaimed, "Mom, please help me."Sitting down on the sofa, I sank my face into my hands. My dad would never support my decision to go back to Country H, but I had no other choice. It was the best place for Jasper to receive the radiation therapy he needed, and I had to do it for my son's sake."I won't agree for you to take my precious grandchild from me," my dad said stubbornly."Do you prefer him being isolated from his p
Axel's PovMy lips quivered as I looked at the figure who had just planted a kiss on the window. "Leah?" I muttered. "What's Leah doing in country H?"I watched as the woman looked confused as the car drove by. I gripped the laptop on my legs tight, feeling a surge of emotions. Could that be Leah? Leah of five years ago had long, silky hair that felt like silk to touch, but this lady had a short bob cut. However, I couldn't be mistaken by the mole between her eyebrows."Master," Secretary Derek called out, "I am so sorry about the mess on the window; I will get it cleaned up immediately."I looked at my secretary, who was already sweating. All my workers knew I am a clean freak and that I couldn't condone a speck of dust. I looked towards the love-shaped kiss, which reminded me of her kiss. "Don't bother," I smirked. "Don't bother cleaning it.""Boss is really angry," I heard Little Nine, who was in the driver's seat, whisper to Derek. He continued, "I wonder what family that lady c
Axel's PovLate in the night, At the city Club, Vvip room"Here, have some alcohol," Marvin passed a glass of alcohol to me as he sat down on the sofa opposite me. I closed my eyes and ignored the looks of the others around me. The atmosphere was lively, but I felt out of place. It had been years since I last joined my friends for a night of clubbing."What is Axel doing here? Now tonight clubbing won't be fun," Tony whispered to the group. Our group consisted of me, Tony, Joel, and Marvin. Each of us had our own unique personality - Marvin in the medical field, Tony in the entertainment industry, known for his flashy dressing, and Joel, the quiet one, often lost in his own thoughts, is into oil and gas. They were all avid night clubbers, while I had long since stopped."Why are you here tonight?" Marvin questioned, his eyes mischievous. "Brother Axel, do you need me to help you look for hot babes, like this one over here?" he gestured to a lady beside him, earning a hearty laugh fr
Leah's Pov "I didn't say he was my child" Axel replied. I hugged Jasper tightly, fear and anxiousness gripped my heart. I never knew I would meet Axel this way. Coming to Country H, there was always a possibility that we might encounter each other, but I never expected it to happen like this.As Axel walked towards us, his handsome face brought back memories of our past. His casual attire and sparkling diamond stud earrings accentuated his charm. His dimpled smile was a clear resemblance to Jasper, and my heart clenched with a mixture of emotions. When he said, "I just want to ask him a question," Jasper beamed and replied, "What question, Handsome Uncle?"My heart raced as Axel made a gesture to playfully tug at Jasper's cheek, but I quickly dodged it, mindful of the precious cargo in my arms. Axel's hands lingered awkwardly in mid-air, and he smiled as he explained, "There's this new toy that just came out, and it's categorized by age. I want to get the one that's just right fo
Axel's PovI kept on looking at my watch impatiently, Leah was supposed to be here by now. "President...are you sure this is a great idea?" Derek asked, but I ignored him, walking to and fro impatiently in front of the emergency room."Where is he?" I heard Leah cried out nervously, she was limping while walking, her beautiful palm-sized face flushed. It looked like she had gone through a lot of trouble getting here. She went straight to the doctor standing nearby, "Doctor, what happened to my son? Where is he?" she asked nervously."Erm..Ms Leah, Jasper suddenly fainted in the hallway and we found out that he was short of blood after a series of tests," the doctor explained."Then give him blood, please, don't let anything happen to my son," Leah pleaded. She was almost on the verge of tears, her tears threatening to spill."Ma'am, your son has a rare blood gene, and we don't have it in our blood bank," the doctor said."Oh no, oh no," Leah held her cheek in despair, "Then what can
A month LaterLeah's povIn the conference room"What?! That's not possible," Mia exclaimed, her wide eyes reflecting her disbelief. As the youngest designer on the team, she had a boundless imagination and was tasked with designing dreamy gowns for kids. "I agreed with Mia," Jason chimed in, adjusting his glasses and adding, "The International Fashion Gala competition is not just an ordinary event, Leah. It's a big deal."I could see the doubt in their eyes, but I remained determined. "I know you all won't agree, but this international fashion gala competition has the potential to elevate our brand internationally," I gently tapped my nose, trying to convey my conviction.Lilian, who had been focused on sketching, looked up and replied, "As much as it might have the potential to make us international, it's not meant for local brands like ours, Leah. This fashion gala is only for well-known and established brands.""I think Lilian is right. Besides, getting a slot for this competitio
Axel's povAt the hospital "Are you happy getting discharged today, are you? Are you?" I heard Leah's playful voice as soon as I stepped into the children's VIP ward. After discovering that Jasper was my son, I had changed his ward to the VIP section, giving him a large room only to himself. The room was filled with toys, resembling an amusement park. Jasper was sitting on the bed with his tablet in hand, while Leah was tickling him, trying to make the little man laugh."Aiya!, mommy, stop tickling me," Jasper said, scowling in frustration. "I am no longer a baby."Leah looked at him surprised. "Who told you that you are no longer a baby? You will forever be mommy's baby," she said with a smile tugging his cheek.Jasper retorted, "I am already a big boy, mommy. I am now five years old, and I will be starting kindergarten soon," raising five fingers to show Leah.Leah scoffs and walked over to the luggage by the side, indicating that it was time to leave. Jasper looked up from his t
Leah's PovI gently wiped my mouth and stood up, "Axel we need to talk," I said, leading him to the balcony. "Here" I said, as I stretched my hand, giving him a file. Axel looked at me with raised eyebrows as he flipped it open."These are some ground rules," I began, a firmness evident in my voice. "You need to visit Jasper once a week, and you are not allowed to let him know you are his father. Also, you can't introduce him to any of your family members," I announced to him.Axel waggled his eyebrow in disbelief. "Why am I allowed to see my son just once a week?" he asked, puzzled by the limitations I was imposing. I took a deep breath, trying to keep my resolve. "That's the time frame we've agreed on. If you know you are not interested in signing the agreement, please hand them back to me," I replied, my tone firm and unwavering.I made a move to collect the agreement file from him, but Axel swiftly dodged it and quickly signed the document. I handed him his copy, and as his fro
Leah's PovI took a desperate breath, relief flooding through me as the police arrived. It was short-lived, however, as M suddenly held my neck and placed a knife against my skin, sending a shiver of fear through my body. "Stay where you are," M screamed, his voice filled with a chilling intensity. As his grip tightened, and the knife inched closer, I felt like I was on the brink of death. This type of scene had always seemed like a distant nightmare, only seen in movies. I pleaded silently with the police in my mind, "Please don't come closer," I thought, feeling the cold touch of the blade against my skin. I was never this close to death before, and the fear was suffocating. The police stood still, unsure of their next move. "Drop your weapons," they called out, trying to remain in control of the situation. "So that you can arrest me? Not possible," M sneered, his voice filled with defiance. "If you're going to get me, I'd rather go down with one person," he threatened, sending a
Leah's Pov,The room was quiet, except for the TV's voices that suddenly caught my attention. "Master, Little Red, called out as he stood up abruptly looking at the TV. I turned to look at the screen and saw Axel being handcuffed and taken away by the police. My heart skipped a beat. "Axel?!" I muttered, blinking my eyes, hoping it was just a dream. I reached for my phone to call him, but it wasn't going through. Panicked, I turned to Little Red. "Let's go," I said, my voice filled with worry."Leah, Hannah called after me, but I refused to wait. My heart filled with worry, "Axel, that liar," I screamed in my heart. I felt like tearing his face apart. As we sat in the waiting room, I hoped that it was all a lie. How could Axel be arrested? The weight of worry and questions filled my heart when I found out that he had gone alone to face M but fell into M's traps instead. "Men! They are scum," I seethed in anger.Suddenly, Axel was walked in by a police officer, his clothes changed i
Axel's Pov"Master, this is where the guy confessed to meet with M, during their mission," Little Nine said as soon as we came to a stop.I looked over at the clinic. It was a private hospital with a huge sign that read Milka Hospital. It had been in existence for over six years now, and it was rumored that the doctor had a magic touch. However, his face was never seen as he always wore a mask whenever he saw patients."That's pretty normal; most doctors always wear a nose mask when they are at work," I said to Little Nine."I know master, but his is quite different. Even the workers at the hospital never saw his face before," Little Nine said.I gently rubbed my lips with my thumb. "Always wearing a mask, was he afraid that his scar would scare people away?"Are the backups here yet?" I asked Little Nine as I made to go out."Yes, master, they are already here," Little Nine replied. I nodded and got down from the car. "Stay alert," I said to him.As I got to the entrance of the clini
Axel's Pov"Jasper recognized you at first glance," Leah asked me with wide eyes. I nodded as I stroked her hair. "You both deceived me. You are going to receive your punishment," I said to him."I am willing to receive anything," he said, locking gaze with me. "Gosh, how can he be so handsome," I muttered. "So what's the surprise?" i asked her.Leah looked at me and smiled. "I... she said, poking my chest, am... pregnan... my," she said to me slowly."Okay," I nodded. Leah looked at me, confused. "Was that the reaction you are supposed to have, she asked. I looked at her, suddenly, I came to a realization. "What?!" i exclaimed. "You are pregnant?" i asked her, my eyes shining. "When, how, how come I didn't know about it?" I asked her as i gently placed my hand on her stomach. "It happened after you 'died'," she said, looking at me. I grinned as I continued rubbing her stomach, smiling stupidly. "How many months is it now?" i asked her. I looked at her as she made the calculatio
Leah's PovAt the hospital,"Doctor How is he?" I asked anxiously, looking at the doctor. The doctor looked at me with a reassuring smile. "It's nothing serious. He just passed out from shock. The wounds are not too deep. You can go see him now," the doctor said before walking away.I entered the room, and the space was quiet, save for the constant beeping of the machine. I looked at Axel's pale face, my eyes stinging as I held back tears. Memories of his betrayal and the pain he had caused me flooded my mind. I felt torn between wanting to leave and never look back, and staying by his side, conflicted by my lingering feelings for him.I stood by the ward door, not wanting to move closer to him."Leah," Axel called out, jolting me back from my thoughts. I looked at him, his pale face crunched in pain as he struggled to sit up on the bed. "I need to go," I said, my voice strained, as I turned to leave."Leah, please, listen to me," Axel pleaded with a soft and gentle voice. His words
Axel's Pov "Your majesty!! Your breakfast is ready," Daniel said as he brought my breakfast to me. "Wow! You are really conscious of your body shape, riding a stationary bike this morning. I really need to applaud you," Daniel said, fawning."What do you want?" I asked him without looking at his face."President Axel," he said, and bent down to help me massage my leg.I looked at him, his smile spreading across. "Brother Axel, what would you say about my performance when I was your secretary?" he asked.I sighed. To be truthful, Daniel had outdone himself. He was really proficient and efficient. The professor had been very happy and had continued threatening him with a blind date, so that he could keep working in the company."Good," I said."Awwwn! I am blushing," he said, grinning, the tips of his werewolf teeth showing as he looked at me, his cheeks tinged with red. "You've never complimented anyone before," he said."Didn't I deserve an award?" he said, searching my eyes."What d
Leah's Pov,"Ms. Leah, here is the list of the people in the Montgomery family," Derek said as he passed me a small booklet. "You have to be careful; they are not the people you can joke with. They are extra dangerous," he said. I nodded, scanning through the file with a furrowed brow, taking in Derek's warning seriously. We arrived at the Montgomery estate, and all I could say was wow, this is... at the gigantic gate of the estate stood two large lions made of rare rubies. We underwent intense security checks at the gate before being allowed entry into the estate. The level of security was staggering. The house was surrounded by a meticulously manicured garden, with winding paths and intricate statues. The roof was curved and tiled, reminiscent of traditional Chinese architecture. The windows were arched and adorned with delicate detailing. The doors were made of dark wood, with latticework panels inlaid with elaborate designs, exuding a sense of tranquility and timeless elegance.
Leah's Pov"Why did you do this, Leah?" John asked, looking at me with concern. I ignored his gaze and looked straight at Axel. My mind raced with questions. Would he support me and help me? Would he reveal his true self? I anxiously awaited his response.Axel looked away from me, his demeanor nonchalant, as if I were not even visible. My heart clenched, and I felt like I was in a hot furnace, my emotions overwhelming me. Could it be....... Was he not Axel? I had questions, but he remained mute, refusing to reveal anything. Frustrated, sad, and tired, I looked around at the people working. "I will get to the bottom of this. Don't worry, keep on working," I assured the designers as I walked out to make a call. "Hey Michael," I said slowly. "Leah, what's wrong? You sound sad," Michael responded. "I am fine. I just need a little help from you," I said, trying to steady my voice.Several minutes later, several women walked into the backstage, their figures and beauty lighting up the
Axel's Pov8 hours ago,At the airport,"Brother Liam, you have to wait for some time, the car will be here soon," Daniel said, his voice filled with assurance. "Okay," I nodded, my fingers tapping away on my phone. It had been a long day, traveling from one country to another for a business collaboration. All I wanted was to fall into a deep sleep."Axel!" a cute voice shouted, causing me to snap out of my daze. I furrowed my brow, wondering if my ears were playing tricks on me. Couldn't be... I turned around and was met with the sight of Jasper. He was sporting shorts and a checkered shirt, paired with stylish sunglasses. His chubby, round face bore a striking resemblance to mine. My heart ached with longing to hug him and ruffle his hair; oh, how I missed my son. But then I hesitated. "Sorry, you've got the wrong person," I told him."You're not Axel?" Jasper asked, peering directly into my eyes as he took off his sunglasses."I am not," I replied, trying to maintain composure.
