They say love can make you do crazy things.
I didn’t believe them.
Until I met her…
I tucked Lana into my bed making sure that she was comfortable. I can still hear her soft sniffles here and there which brings pain to my heart. I heard her story and I felt no lie in there.
I turned on the night light that I have just installed especially for her because I don’t want her to stay in the dark. Well, at least when she’s with me. I pulled out the phone and call the only other person I know from Purple Hill and he answered on the third ring.
“Fancy hearing from you,” Calvin said as he answers. I can tell that he’s in the bar based on the noise in his background.
My last conversation with Seth was a few days ago. We haven’t talked about the pregnancy since the last time I was in his house. After telling him about my plans he was so adamant that I will not be moving to a place where he won’t be able to see me. I remember the day I had spent with him on the day when I thought I lost him. I also enjoyed eating breakfast with his friends and finally got to know them better. Out of his three friends, Jericho was the kindest and most understanding of them all. He was the first to open up with me and the first to accept me despite the previous interaction that I had with them. His power comes in his hand and of course his cooking. The dishes that he creates will blow your mind. And that’s not the only thing that I like about him. Because aside from that, he was also a good secret keeper. Sol, whose full name was actually Solomon, hated to be called by his full name. He’s a bit touchy and the hardest to please among the three. He will test your pat
Today is the day that everyone is waiting for. The day when two packs are able to show what they are truly made of. But instead of becoming enemies, they become allies in the end. Werewolves have always had this Alpha instinct as they call it. The sense of superiority among the rest of the pack. It is also because of such traits that Purple Hill created this tournament against the other packs. Most of the other packs include a new generation of Alpha who’s been friends with Drake, Leon, Calvin, and Nori since they were small pups. Some of them I have known since pre-school, while some of them are newly earned friends. I hope that Black Moon will also become their friend. I know that Nori and Seth had started on the wrong foot, but I am still hopeful that by the end of the tournament the gap would have lessened or better yet disappeared. “Hey, bitch” Calvin called out to me as he enters my room.“Are you really sure that you will not join them?” I ask as I tie my hair in a ponytail.
I can smell the scent of competition in the air. I had been in a good mood since my call with Seth. I guess knowing about our bet and my chances of winning it is what makes me so giddy. I turned just in time to see Calvin running towards me. “Are you ready?” He asks with that annoying smile on his face. Seeing that he is so happy about something only means one thing – I am doomed. “I just came here to watch and know the results,” I said, “whatever it is that you are planning, please do not include me in it.” “I would have left you out,” Calvin begin to say, “but then, I know that you will be bored if I leave you alone. That’s why I took the liberty of deciding on your behalf. I volunteered the two of us as ushers for today’s tournament.” “What the hell, Cal?” I said. I was both furious and annoyed.“Before you kill me, listen to me first,” he said as he raised his hands as a sign of surrender. “You have thirty seconds,” I said, crossing my arms over my chest as I let him underst
When we were young fairytales makes us believe that everything is possible. That after all the hardships that the main character experiences, good things are sure to follow. Fairytales make us think that happily ever after really exists. That if you have suffered enough you’ll surely get your happy ending. But as you grow old, you slowly realize that fairytales are bullshit. That happy ending does not really exist. My life has been a continuous cycle of bad luck until I met Nori. Slowly, I start to dream, start to hope, and start to make plans for a future that never existed. For a short while, it felt like I will finally have my happy ending. Until my world began to crumble down. That’s when I accepted my fate. I stopped dreaming, I stopped hoping, and stopped believing in a happy ending. And then I met Seth.Unlike my younger self, I made sure that this time I won’t be fooled easily. This time flowery words won’t mean a thing. I was doing good, actually better than I expected. I
It’s funny how the light of hope can change things. How everything that used to seem hopeless becomes something else. It’s like walking in the dark, stumbling on things that you can not see that could either discourage you, frustrate you, anger you, or even worse, causes you pain. With hope, all of that disappears. Because instead of stumbling in the dark, you can now see everything in front of you. Although the path may be visible to you, it does not mean that there will be no obstacles. The only difference between seeing and not seeing the path ahead of you is that seeing it is always way better than being left in the dark. I sat on the mat that Seth has prepared for me and stare up at the sky. I have never thought of him as the elusive Alpha that Drake, Leon, Nori, and even Calvin were looking for. But that was not the best part. The best part was when Seth told everyone his wish. “I wish to choose My Mate,” Seth said as he looks at me. His answer made me stop breathing. “Okay
Fate has a funny way of playing with people. He has a funny way of making people believe that they have finally found the one that they are fated to be with only to have their hearts broken. And once you have thought that you have already moved on, fate will once again come and make you feel the same thing you felt in the past, before you got your heart crashed. There was a time when I have a fantasy of having Nori make love to me. I was so in love with him and fate made me feel that he felt the same way that I do. He made me feel that we belong with each other. Until fate decided that it was no longer part of its plan. I sat in front of Seth, who I know loves me truly. Who loves me as a whole, including the ugly part of me. But if I want to make this relationship of ours work I need to be honest with him. “Lana,” he called my name but it was not his usual sensual and seducing voice. Instead, it was filled with sadness. “Marking you as My Mate is more than just a mark. It’s a bond
When my father first heard about my plan of being the tournament’s MVP against the known pack Purple Hill, he was surprised. At the same time, he already had a feeling that I will do just that. “So,” my father said as he took his turn and moved his bishop to get my pawn, “Who is the girl?” He asks nonchalantly, without looking at me. “How did you know?” I ask as I move my horse to block his bishop. He looked up from the board and look at me straight in the eye, “My son, I have known you since you were a child. And I have known how much you hated politics. Isn’t that the reason why I am still the Alpha of our pack even though we both know that it should have been you ever since you reached the age of twenty-one?”I smiled at my father, I don’t really look like him because I got my looks from my mother. Well, most of it at least. But everyone who knows my mother always tells me that they were glad that I don’t have her impatience and temperament. “She’s not a she-wolf,” I said as I a
After the wonderful night, I had spent with Seth with only the moon as our witness, the harsh light of morning came bringing me back to reality. Seth wanted to take me home to meet my mother and to officially ask for my hand, but I insisted that it would be better if I speak to her first. My mother is one of the kindest and most understanding people that I know. I am just not sure how she will take the news of another pack claiming me. I know that she was kinda hopeful that Calvin would take me since Nori and I didn’t really work out. I asked Seth to drop me off by the border where Calvin would wait for me. “Are you okay?” Seth asks making me stop overthinking. “Yeah,” I replied smiling at him. “What are you thinking, Baby?” Seth asks with his eyes on the road. “It just felt surreal, like a dream come true,” I said happily. Seth took a peek at me before looking back at the road ahead. “Well,” Seth said as he shifted a gear, “It’s a dream come true for me,” his admission felt l
