The summer evening lingered, with the golden glow of the setting sun casting a soft, warm hue on Adela’s face. She was still smiling from a conversation with Ralph when Layson walked in.

Layson took off his suit jacket, draped it over the couch, and casually rolled up the sleeves of his crisp white shirt, revealing his toned forearms. As he made his way toward them, he asked, “What have you two been up to?”

Seeing him approach, Adela got up and headed toward the kitchen. “I’ll grab you a plate,” she said as she walked. Then, glancing back at him, she added, “Do you stay here often? The place is so well-stocked.”

Seated at the dining table, Layson rested his arm on the back of the chair and kept his gaze fixed on her, a subtle smile playing on his lips. “I stay here whenever there’s a business gala,” he responded.

Returning from the kitchen, Adela handed him a plate and utensils, furrowing her brows slightly as she asked, “You have that many business galas?”
