Andera's pov.

Thane walked into my meeting room, dressed in the same colors as Timmy this morning, navy blue suit with a black tie, his hair sleekly styled; all I could think about was the striking resemblance between him and his son. The son he is not aware of.

My heart ached, not for Thane, but for my little man, Timmy. I could picture them together, Thane in the middle, in this exact outfit, Timmy by his side in his school uniform and his usual beaming smile, Tiffany at his other side in her uniform, high heels shoes, and wearing mommy's make-up.

My throat bobbed. That is what my kids deserve. All the happiness in the world.

During my drive here after dropping them both at school, I wrestled with the idea of revealing our children's existence to Thane. The prospect filled me with anxiety. If Thane rejects Tiffany and Timmy as his children, it would devastate me more than any other heartless thing he's ever done. On the other hand, if he accepts them, I'd be forced to spend the res

Andera's povI can still remember her long blond hair and blue eyes. I can still see her scowling at me. When Thane was still in college, he usually brought Melissa back home for the holidays. Seeing her in her elegance and grandeur served to remind me that I could never have Thane. It also didn't help that Melissa always made me feel inferior, taunting and calling me a plane Jane. When Mr Duncan - Thane's father - demanded that Thane marry me after that night we both were intimate, Melissa was enraged. She swore to make me pay. I didn't think too much about it then, but I should have; now I understand everything; Melissa did get back at me. I've just been too much of a fool to put the pieces together." You're with Melissa. " I say again and let out a croaky laugh. " No wonder you were so willing to divorce me without even an ounce of sympathy. " Thane's goes pale" Andera, I know where your mind is going, and believe me that's not it." He leans towards me, trying to reach for my

Thanes pov.I left Andrea's office with suppressed anger. How could she think I would stoop so low as to frame her for stealing? The mere suggestion of it is an insult to my person.I reached my parked car and slid into the backseat, my chauffeur waiting patiently for instructions to depart, but I didn't want to leave just yet...My body is torn between keeping my distance from her and the desire to go back into the conference room, pin her small body against the wall, and demand that she listen to me.My phone rings out, shrill in the silence of my Bugatti. It's Melissa again, and the anger I've been pressing down surfaces. My quarrel today with Andera is because of Melissa. I deactivated the AI used to read the caller's name, already regretting my haste. If I had taken my time to prepare this morning before our impromptu meeting, my dammed phone would have been on silent, and Andera wouldn't have found out about Melissa.I slammed my head against the soft headrest. I need to find a

Andera's pov.I dashed through the hospital's sliding doors, my heart pounding in my chest. The few minutes spent talking with Thane felt like an eternity, delaying me from knowing what state my daughter - our daughter - was in.Under different circumstances, I would have stood longer to demand from Thane why in God's green earth he was stalking me, but there was too much to risk. I couldn't let him get any clues about Tiffany. I will deal with Thane later. Right now all I am concerned about is seeing my girl. The elevator stops, and I follow the directions I got from the nurse, the one who was in such a hurry to end her shift; she barely finished talking to me before walking out.I get to the hospital room and close my hand around the door knob.To say I'm terrified would be an understatement. I'm scared shitless, the dread in my stomach is consuming me, eating up the tranquility in my soul. I pushed the door open. My eyes find hers first. Her hazel eyes stared brightly back at me,

Thanes pov." Mr Renihardt? Mr Renihardt? Sir? " " Yes, yes what is it? " I barked. The young lady who was trying to get my attention recoiled, looking frightened. She cleared her throat, dropping her head down to stare at the marble floor."Sir, I asked for your opinions on our team's presentation." Her voice trembled with fear. I looked at her, then to where the other interns stood wide-eyed, all young and nervous" It's good. " I said brusquely with a wave of my hand to dismiss them. " You'll receive feedback from me. You all can leave now. " The interns gathered their things and left, looking relieved. The truth is, I didn't hear anything the intern had said. I wasn't paying any attention. My mind was submerged in thoughts of a certain hazel-eyed CEO.Two nights ago, Andera had called me. I was surprised she had my number, but then I remembered I texted her with it some time ago. More surprising was my instant relief and peace when she told me that she wasn't sick, but the way s

Andera's pov. Tiffany's test results came in today. It is not an infection or an allergic reaction as Doctor Smith had thought. He advised that I bring her over to the hospital again for further tests to be taken on her.I was relieved when she woke up feeling strong and boisterous like her usual self. But despite Tiffany's energetic mood, I decided it would be best to stay away from school today, just so she could properly rest. I also took a day off from the office. Thanks to my very capable chief operating officer, Rosa, I can confidently take a break, sit back, relax, and spend some time with both my babies, knowing that my company is in safe hands.Timmy and Tiffany have been in their room since we finished having breakfast. Tiffany has been trying out all the outfits in her closet. Preparing herself to be a model. While Timmy, her only audience, fan, and biggest supporter, has been cheering her. Thanes pov. It's today. The Scale-up soiree. The day I defy Andera's rejection and show up at her doorstep. You could say I'm losing my mind.I slip into one of my finest Ralph Lauren suits, gray colored, a lighter shade than my eyes. My hair is brushed back in a sleek way, and a confident smirk stretches on my face as I look at myself in the mirror. Tonight, I'm not just dressing to impress – I'm on a mission to capture the attention of one woman. I spray on my signature sandalwood cologne, the same scent Andera has always loved. Tonight, I was determined to make a statement, and I know whom I want to impress. Now, with my look perfected, I've got one final move. The trick up my sleeve.A luxurious limousine awaits, ready to collect the woman who has no idea she's going to be mine for the night.I know Andera said she would not be going to this business conference with me, and I'm also aware that I may be overstepping boundaries here, but yet, my stubbornness refuses. Andera's pov.Thane's hand rested on the back of my neck, and a jolt of electricity ran through my veins. I wondered if he felt me stiffen under his touch. I can't believe my own body is betraying me like this.I wanted to hate him, but yet I relished the feel of his fingers on my skin, yearning for his touch. Perhaps it was because Thane was the only man my boys has ever known. He was familiar with my body, knowing exactly how to weaken my knees, to make me moan with maddening ecstasy, leaving me on the brink of exhaustion with pleasure. There are things...feelings a woman cannot forget.I was ashamed to admit it to myself, but I had been having some..cravings, I wanted to be touched and by someone who knew how. Despite the pain Thane caused me five years ago, I was still a woman with needs and desires that refused to be silenced, regardless of how much I helped myself. With his thumb, Thane drew lazy circles at the back of my neck. Sending tingles down to my core, his thumb wasn't

Andera's pov.I swallowed hard, my heart skipping a bit while Thane held my second wrist.I knew Thane well enough to recognize that menacing look in his eyes, and a shiver ran down my spine. " She isn't going anywhere, we came together, we will leave together. Perish any thoughts you're conjuring Grace. It won't work. " He maintained. If it were any other person on the receiving end of Thane's subtle threatening statement, they would have fled, but this is Grace. She was there since his childhood. The woman is like a big aunty to him.Grace clicked her teeth, frowning in disapproval."I will not let this beautiful woman here-" she gestured at me "- to waste a fine evening as this. " Challenge flickered in her jade eyes, she tugged me closer again."Grace, let her go. " Thane answered calmly, too calmly to be anything but frightening. He tugged me closer, and Grace pulled me towards herself. That was how I found myself sandwiched in between their bickering. Andera's pov.If my smile widened just a tiny fraction, my face would split into two. Who knew forgiveness could be so refreshing? It's been almost two weeks since I gave in to Thane; that's two weeks of happiness, laughter, love, and...other things.I watched as Thane helped Timmy and Tiffany with their home works. Pencils and crayons were scattered in the living room. As if he knew I was watching him, Thane raised his face and saw me standing at the foot of the stairs. From over here, I could feel the heat that flared in his eyes. “Hey.” he mouthed, his eyes warm. “Hey.” I mouthed back, Thane's eyes trailed over my body. Now that things between me and Thane were more.. cordial, my guard around him dropped. I wore my preferred shorts and tank tops, sometimes -in the privacy of our room, I wore nothing at all. Thane gave me a part appreciating, part promising smile before refocusing on the task spread in front of him. Heat gathered below my spine. I could never get enough of Tha

Andera's povOur partnership was thriving more than I expected. Reinhardt infrastructure and Auraspire Energies were the talks of the town. Rumors had already flown around about me and Thane, but we chose not to address the issue yet. We were happy the way we were. Lazy mornings in bed, afternoons texting each other and giving updates about our companies, evenings with our kids, and laughter enough to make our stomachs hurt, and then, last but definitely not least, nights of passionate lovemaking. We were happy, that was until some certain visitor showed up on Sunday.“I'm sorry to interrupt your...time Sir, but you have some visitors.” Joseph, our butler, interrupted our banter. It was a lazy Sunday evening. Thane and I were nibbling on my homemade red velvet cookies; the twins were with Rosa. She would bring them back in an hour or so. Initially, Thane had been reluctant to let Tim and Tiffy out of his sight, but after much convincing on my part, he finally budged. The kids were

Andera's povI snuggled closer to the solid warmth behind me that was new yet familiar. A soft purr escaped my lips. ‘Where was I?’ I thought in my hazy mind.Boston?Seattle?Home? My bed felt different, more comfy and warm. I sighed when something strong and warm brushed over my stomach, pulling me closer. I let out another moan.My eyes opened a fraction to see gray and white walls, furniture that I didn't recognize, and paintings that weren't mine. “What? Where...am..?” “You're awake.” a gravelly voice whispered into my hair. It took me less than a second to recognize that voice. It was Thane's. At once, my hazy memories cleared up. The warmth radiating around me was Thane's body. What I felt on my stomach was his big hand pulling me closer to him.“Hey!” I scrambled away from Thane and off the bed. “Why were you cuddling me?” Thane wiped the sleep from his eyes with his hands; his dark hair tousled; morning light seeped in through the curtains and rested on his skin, making t

Andera's pov.“Welcome home” Thane gestured into his mansion, a smug grin on his face that I wanted to smack away. Last night, while we settled into the too-tight sleeper couch, I had agreed we all live together, that Is until I can come up with a plan. The idea of living with Thane, under the same roof makes me want to pull my hair out. If five months ago, someone had told me that I would be living with Thane. I would have called them crazy, but here we were. It's not like I have much of an option though. Go to court? Good gracious no. Move back to Boston and leave my children behind? Not even at gunpoint. Move in with my ex-husband, whom is loving and kind to our kids and won't stop looking at me like he's a starved man and I'm his last meal? Umm... How bad could it be? The answer: catastrophically bad. “Stop staring at me., I yelled In a fierce whisper. Thane's lips curled an inch. “I'm just so glad you decided to come home.” “I did this for our kids.” I retorted. “So i

Thane's pov “Your daughter is responding well to the transfusion. We will need to keep her admitted overnight for observation, but we're optimistic about her recovery.” My shoulders sagged with relief, and so did Andera's. Tiffany had been transferred to a specialized hospital when the results came out showing that I was a perfect match. We both exchanged a look, Andera's face lit up, she placed her hand on my arm and softly mouthed “Thank you.” My heart- the poor guy melted into a puddle. Now that we were sure Tiffany was okay, my tension had loosened up, and I was starting to feel like an idiot for lashing out at Andera, for getting angry at her when she had as much right to hate me. I placed a hand over hers. “I'm sorry.” I mouthed back. For being an a*shole, when she was down and needed me. “I'm sorry for everything.” When Andera gave me that mesmerizing smile, I was tempted to pull her close to me and lock my lip with hers. The doctor, (whom we had forgotten was there)

Thane's pov Seeing Andera had brought up all the anger, frustration, and hurt I had locked away. I told myself I would look past what she had done and move on from it for the sake of our children, but the wound cut too deep; I wondered if it would ever truly heal.I reached the doctor's office. My heart beating erratically in my chest as I pondered over the condition of my daughter. I silently cursed myself for the minutes I wasted exchanging words with Andera. The doctor stood up, pushing her curls behind her ear.“I'm Tiffany's father.” I blurted out. “Tiffany and Timmy's father.” Andera came up behind me, so close I could feel her body heat. My heart twisted again, her proximity stirred a painful longing Inside me.“Well then. Let's begin. We will start by taking your blood to see if you're a match for your daughter." The doctor stated.Even after three days, knowing that I have a daughter and a son still felt surreal to me; it made me feel equal parts happiness, sadness, and w

Thanes pov.I could have sworn I heard a crack in my chest. “What are you talking about Andera?” I demanded. Andera sniffed some more. Murderous rage ripped through me while my mind raced a mile a minute with the worst cases scenarios. If someone hurt her or Tiffany.....I shook the thoughts away; I couldn't possibly be thinking of killing someone when I was in a cemetery. “It's Tiffany. Sh...she is....we couldn't...” Andera stuttered. My blood pressure skyrocketed.“Send me your location, now. I'll be there.” she ended the call and I waited for Andera's message. “Are you leaving?” Imogen asked, her red-rimmed eyes peeking out from under the lace of her black hat. Melissa's death hit Imogen the hardest. When I found Melissa dead days ago, I immediately informed the police; investigations were carried out and are still being carried out. I spent the first day and most of the second at the police department, cooperating with the investigations, and even after I was cleared of all su

Andera's pov The airport medical center was a blur of white coats, beeping machines, and antiseptic smells. In the doorway, Rosa talked with the doctor. Their voices were quiet, but I couldn't hear what they were saying; I was too focused on Tiffany. Her tired eyes, pale cheeks, and faint sighs.I stroked her hair, wondering how things got so bad, so fast. The plan was working out; we were supposed to be on our flight, and she was supposed to be bickering with Timmy over pets and games, but here we were. My heart twisted in my chest as another fat tear drop rolled down my eye. “Mommy?” Tiffany's eyes flickered open, and she groggily took in her surroundings before she shut them again, so it had been going on for the past twenty minutes.“Yes, sweetie. I'm right here.” my voice came out hoarse from all the crying earlier on.“Mommy” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “My head hurts.” Another tear slid down my cheek. Timmy stood still on the other side of the bed. His glassy ey

Thane's pov.TWO DAYS EARLIER.The minutes rolled by into hours while I waited for Josh to do his thing and feed my desperate mind with updates. I hadn't managed a wink of sleep since leaving Andera's home; Paul was currently overseeing the things he could handle at the company while I sorted out my personal and more important matters. I took a deep breath as I gulped down the glass of whiskey the bartender had given me. After seven glasses in two hours, the burning sensation faded, replaced by a numbness that did nothing to drown my worries. “Is this seat taken?” A brunette approached me, I could see her flirtatious smile from the corner of my eye. “Not interested.” I snapped, the lady huffed, and went her way. There was only one woman who clouded my mind, one woman who consumed my waking hours, the same woman who was likely to have hurt me like nobody ever had.‘She's not yours’ ‘Tiffany is my daughter. Not yours’‘So would Timmy. You both look like each other. You have the sam
