Xavier~
"Oh, so you want a divorce from me, huh?" I raise my brow at her. I always wanted to get rid of her, but the idea of asking her for a divorce in exchange for returning my firm to me hurt my ego. How can a low-standard woman insult me in this way? My dad's announcement has already angered me, and now she's fueling my already simmering rage. "Yes, Xavier Thompson, you heard me right—I want divorce." As she stared right into my eyes, her voice challenged me. I never thought she would suddenly be that fearless. Her eyes were typically kind toward me, but now they were blazing with something that looked like anger. I looked at the legal papers for the company that were on the ground. Did I accept her demand? I own this company, so she can't ask for anything in exchange for giving it back to me. But all she's asking for is a divorce, so it's a win-win for me. I turned to face the party guests and my family members. They were all looking at me with dissatisfaction. Will taking a law firm in exchange for a divorce from her not cast doubt on my worth and talent? Why should I agree to her demand when I am competent enough to start a legal firm? I questioned myself. But I always wanted to divorce her, and I always dreamt of leading this firm so that I could make it the number one law firm in the USA. "OK, I accept your condition." I looked at Alicia and smiled lovingly at her beautiful face. "Give me two minutes, and I will be there." I excused myself and returned to my room to take the divorce file. I processed the divorce without informing anyone, as I was eager to separate from her after my dad's announcement. "Humm... so that blue file is your surprise for our anniversary." She smiled bitterly on seeing the divorce file. I stored this blue file safely in my locker, hidden from her and out of the reach of Victor and the other people in the house. "You understand, so sign those papers and disappear into my life." I gave her a pen so she could sign the paperwork. "Do you want your thumb impression to appear on a stamp pad instead of a signature?" I made fun of her fiery attitude. She silently withdrew the pen from my grasp, signed the divorce papers, and threw them in my direction. "Xavier Thompson, you are free from now, and I pray to God that we will never cross paths again. Thank you for such a wonderful gift on our wedding anniversary." She stormed out of the party hall, flinging the wedding ring in my direction. Everyone stood quietly, staring at her. I gathered the divorce and firm ownership documents, and I told everyone to have fun at the celebration. "Xavier, I am so happy today that you broke your marriage with her." As Isabella left the party hall, Alicia hugged me in front of everyone. "I, too, feel suffocated by that marriage." I kissed Alicia's forehead and knelt before her to propose. We immediately got engaged after she accepted my proposal. Because I've always wanted to marry Alicia, I've already bought her a stunning diamond ring. She is the only love of my life. I looked at my dad's face after the engagement, seeking his blessings. "Xavier, you will regret your actions one day. After what you did to her, I am unable to share a home with you." "But, Dad. I never loved her." I made an effort to soothe his rage. "Xavier, you lost all the right to tell me your dad; I am breaking all ties with you. Now enjoy your success with your new wife." Angrily, he departed the party hall. "Grayson and Dixie, why don't you ask Dad to calm down his anger? He has a high blood pressure issue." I turned and gazed at them. "We have to leave, Dixie; our children are waiting for us." Grayson asked Dixie to leave the party hall. I turned to face Victor, who was silently observing everything while standing in the party hall's corner. "Victor, I am sorry. I don't mean to hurt you because of that bitch; it's all part of the past." I walked towards him to hug him. "Xavier, don't you dare to talk nonsense about her; she is not your wife, but she is still my friend, and I can not bear my friend's insult." He also left the party hall behind Grayson. When other guests noticed they were leaving the party hall, they all followed suit. To celebrate my victory, Alicia and I were the only ones left in the party hall. "They all abandoned us, Alicia. We must go apologize to Dad." I sighed deeply as I sat on the stool at the bar counter. I am currently experiencing a significant amount of weight on my chest, as I never anticipated that my father would abandon me in this manner. This all happened because of Isabella. She played with my dad’s mind. She manipulated my family members so that they would stay by her side. My blood boiled at the thought of Isabella, so to satisfy my anger, I threw all the glass on the floor, shattering it into pieces. "Calm down, sweetheart. You don't have to be upset or depressed because I'll always be there for you, and we can defeat any foe together. We'll prove to everyone that you deserve to be the company's CEO, and I do not doubt that your father will soon pardon you after witnessing your growth." She kissed my lips to calm my fury. "Let's get married soon. I am afraid that your ex-wife will plot something evil to trick you." She looked at me with fear-filled eyes. Alicia is right; I have to marry her soon. I fully understand that Isabella might try to retaliate against me. We tied the knot on the same day to eliminate any chance of her coming back. My life is happy and fulfilling after marrying Alicia. For me, it's like a dream come true—until I realize that the radiant beauty conceals a dark side. My lovely dream quickly became a nightmare that pulled me through the hardest time of my life.Isabella~“Open your eyes, Bella.” I felt a gentle tap on my cheek and I opened my eyes. Xavier was standing in front of me.“Xavier, Nathan… I want to go there.” I tried to get up from my bed, but Xavier held my shoulder and stopped me.“Bella, you need to rest now. We can't change fate.” Nathan’s death is a shock for all of us. Xavier’s face filled with sadness.“No, this was not fate; it was a mistake. He died at my place. Jordan Lucas planted that bomb for me but Nathan died.” I cried loudly, remembering the sad news I heard a few hours ago over my phone from a police officer.“Bella, don't blame yourself; fate had already decided that Nathan would die in your place.” Xavier patted me on the shoulder to console me, but my heart filled with grief and guilt over Nathan's death.“It's me who was behind Jordan Lucas's death, so why destiny played so cruelly with Nathan?”“Bella, please calm down, or you will affect our child’s health.” My eyes continued to well up with tears despite X
Isabella~“Welcome home, Xavier.” I hugged him happily upon seeing him standing at the entrance to the main door."Bella, I missed you so much." He kissed my forehead and hugged me tightly. His warmth filled my heart with ease. After a long time, I felt light in my chest."Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, this is not your bedroom. Please look at your surroundings." James fake-coughed to grab our attention. When I saw James and other family members grinning mischievously at us, my cheeks began to flush."Dad, I brought you a welcome gift." Alan presented him with a flower from our garden."Thank you, my son." Xavier knelt before Alan and planted a kiss on his forehead."Mama, I also brought a flower for you." Alan turned to me and presented me with a flower."Why me?" I looked at him with confusion."Because you are going to give me a brother soon." Alan’s cheerful voice echoed in the hall."How do you know it's a boy?" I took a flower from his hand and raised my brow at him."I talked to my bro
Xavier~“Xavier, how are you feeling now?” As soon as I opened my eyes, Bella's concerned voice hit my ear."Bella, are you all right? How’s my baby?" I worriedly glanced at her belly."Xavier, relax. Everything is fine except you." She asked me not to get up from bed."I would like to speak with your doctor." My worry still has not subsided even after seeing her in front of my eyes standing fine."Xavier, I will take you to my doctor later. First, you need to heal your wound." She glanced back at my bandage."Don't worry about me; I am fine." I made an effort to hide my suffering from her and pretend that nothing had happened."Don't lie to me, Xavier; I know you're not feeling well. Lay down on your bed quietly." She reprimanded me before taking a seat on the stool beside my bed. Her hand tightened unconsciously on her belly, and she glanced toward the window as if trying to keep something troubling her mind at bay."Xavier, how are you feeling now?" James and Lincoln entered my roo
Isabella~“Mr. Lincon, are you sure?” Uncle Joseph looked at him with confusion as Lincon once again returned to the witness box."Yes, my lord, I am 100% sure now. I apologize for lying to the court earlier, but I was concerned about my family's safety. Jordan Lucas kidnapped my family and threatened me that if I opened my mouth in court, he would kill them." Lincon wiped off his forehead to clean his sweat.I turned to look at James, and I noticed that Linda and her son were standing behind him. Now I understood the whole situation, so I got up from my chair once again to prove Jordan Lucas' crime in front of the judge."My lord, Miss Luis was right. Jordan Lucas is Lisa Morgan's son. Jordan Lucas killed his stepsister, Alicia, and he and his mother killed Bella's father." Lincon conveyed the truth in a single sentence. The courtroom once again fell silent. Uncle Joseph's face clouded with seriousness."Since you already told us that you knew nothing about Jordan Lucas' life and tha
Xavier~“What are you doing, Bella?” My eyes were wide open in shock on seeing her drastic move. How can she call Lincon to the witness box for testimony when she is aware that Lincon will not directly support her by deceiving Jordan Lucas? He already said last night that he will not support us in front of Jordan Lucas."Permission granted." Uncle Joseph allowed Bella to testify to Lincon about the story she just shared in court. Although she didn't lie about anything in this story and submitted relevant proofs to justify her stories from time to time, still Uncle Joseph did not seem fully convinced by her story. Why is she calling the prosecutor to the witness box? Has she lost her mind? The whisper in the court reached my ears."Silence!" Uncle Joseph hammered his gavel to appeal to the public in the courtroom to maintain court decorum.I looked at my family once again sitting in the courtroom crowd. I didn't see Linda and her son in the courtroom, but my dad was sitting with Alan
Isabella~“Objection, My lord, the defending lawyer is now misleading the court.”Lincon got up from his chair to interrupt my interrogation with Lisa Morgan. His eyes blazed with anger and frustration. What's causing him to be angry? Until morning he agreed to support me, so what happened behind my back that his eyes filled with hatred for me once again?"Objection overruled. Miss Luis, please continue." Uncle Joseph ignored Lincon's objection and gestured to me to continue my argument."My lord, when Lisa Morgan’s husband discovered that she had a secret child, he attempted to persuade her to surrender to the police and become a prime witness against Jordan Lucas; however, she refused his request. In response, her husband ultimately threatened to reveal her identity publicly and hand her over to the police."It felt heavy on my shoulders to discuss my dad's murder in court. Lisa Morgan brutally murdered her husband by declaring his death as a heart attack. And she was not alone in
