The twins as Elena liked to call them, were Alexis and Cassandra. Alexis was born one minute before Cassandra, and two minutes later, Elena was born. The twins were identical in looks and interests. They were different from their sister. Both in looks and in the way they behaved.
When the girls were fourteen years old, while Elena lay at the hospital bed, Alexis had gone shopping with some friends from school when she ran into a top model scout, Edward Jones. He took a keen interest in her and invited her to audition. And as it turned out, she had the talent and the body of a model, her walk was great except for a few mistakes which training corrected. She got the job as a lingerie model and it didn’t take much time for her to climb the ladder to become a top model associated with major brands.
Cassandra had gone with Alexis for her auditioning, she had made an outfit for Alexis to wear that day, this was an opportunity she saw and she wasn’t letting go, Cassandra had made clothes and uniforms for cheerleading back in high school. Ever since she was six years old, she could use a needle, design a website and she worked hard and great. As a junior, she designed tees for events which she sold on the web.Her career as a fashion designer grew so much and her g****e search would show that she was “an award-winning fashion designer whose clothes had been paraded at the Paris fashion week on several occasions by top models in the industry."Their mother, Caroline couldn’t be prouder of her girls; Elena inclusive. The twins had met up in LA and flown into Canada together two days before their twenty-first birthday.Their mother, Caroline had insisted. She had planned this day for a long time and wanted all three to be together on this day. She hadn’t seen her girls together in the same room for three years. Everyone had a busy schedule so she was glad that they could make it. She missed her family and was lonely most of the time so she was glad the girls had conceded to having this day together. Her heart was full. This was a big one.Cassandra had made their mother, Caroline a dress for the occasion and was busy helping her get into it to enable her to check the fitting before heading out. The black silk fabric had been made into a full-length sleeveless evening dress with gold toppings and beads around the neck and down to the sections of her breasts. There was a generous cup inserted into the inner linings of the dress to hold up her breasts like that of a nineteen-year-old and a lace front that showed an appropriate amount of skin for her age.Caroline loved the dress. Simple and elegant she thought but her daughter was not finished. Cassandra had also made a black cape with gold linings that would sit beautifully atop the dress while gently covering her arms and giving a back view that was befitting of the queen herself.“merveilleux” Cassandra said in French as she took a thorough look at her mother in the dress.“why not add a crown,” Caroline said sarcastically as she smiled.“no mother, it is our birthday, not your coronation; you are not getting a crown, being sixty hasn’t made you the queen of the seniors,” she said with laughterYou see, mother and daughter loved to tease each other. Cassandra was the only one who had inherited her mothers’ wit but her sister, Alexis had gotten the dance skills; they shared the same love for moving their body to any kind of rhythm. Elena on the other hand had gotten.... well, nothing; nothing about Elena stood as a resemblance to her mother. The house had been fun with mother and children in the same space. Fun for some of them. Having both girls around brightened the home. They were the life of every party, well not every party some parties were painful to celebrate or were not held mostly because they had a sister who was always sick as a child and their parents were preoccupied with dealing with her. It drained their mother all the time as she wouldn’t ever leave her daughter’s hospital room, even to take a shower. She would sit there until she was forced by their father to go home for a shower and rest.Their sister, Elena was different. An aunt had mistakenly dropped her as a baby and she had sustained a brain injury, she had also been unable to walk unaided for fourteen years till her sudden recovery at the hospital almost two months after their fourteenth birthday. Even though she miraculously stopped getting sick since she turned fourteen, she still didn’t have a normal social life and no one knew exactly why. she kept to herself a lot, had no friends except her roommate who doubled as her only friend and she always looked miserable or tired, or a combination of both.“okay. I am going to take the dress off now mum; I need you to hold still so I unhook the cape” Cassandra said, after fully examining her dress.“why not just leave it. You can take the cape off, it's quite much. I could wear the dress over to Elena’s place”Cassandra rolled her eyes at her mother as she said “no. we talked about this. This is just the fitting. And everything looks good. Dinner is still hours away so you can take this off for later. We don’t want it getting rough and dirty before evening.”She helped her mother out of the dress and handed her a short gold dress which she had left on a hanger.“here, please put this on for now. It's your pre-dinner dress. And if you can, I need you to sit on this stool when you are done so I can dye your greys. I would also get on with your makeup while I still have the time”.Caroline did as she was told, there was no point arguing with this one. She put on the much simpler gold dress and sat on the stool facing the dresser mirror, closed her eyes, and surrendered to her daughter to work her magic on her grey hairs and her face.By noon, Caroline called Elena on the phone to let her know they were on their way. She told Elena to expect them in approximately twelve minutes and from the other end, Elena said“twelve minutes to still change my mind”Caroline smirked and gave a burst of dry laughter and said“see you soon honey” as she cut off the call, she had understood her daughter’s attempt at a joke, she heard the sarcasm behind the statement. And the discomfort that followed. Oh well. She shrugged it off; Caroline loved her children and missed having her family together so she had made up her mind to enjoy this day no matter how awkward it got.Caroline worried about her last daughter a lot. She was very different from her sisters and never really got along with any of them, even though they had made efforts to draw her closerElena had been her closest as she had spent a lot of time with her at the hospital leaving the other girls to the care of their father. So, she didn’t understand why Elena suddenly pushed her away after she got well. She was fourteen at the time and ever since her little girl came home, she had changed and gone into a shell which she refused to come out of ever since but Caroline wasn’t giving up. She had even upped herself and moved to Ontario from Edmonton just to be close to her daughter again.Things seemed to be better now than before. And that was enough for her.Eleven minutes later, Caroline’s white Mercedes Benz GLC pulled into Elena’s driveway. Elena had already been waiting for them.“Mother” Elena said as she gave her a quick hug.Alexis went for a peck on her sister’s cheeks “Elena. How I missed you”Cassandra patted her on the back “hello stranger” all giggly as they went up the flight of stairs into her apartment. They took the groceries from the car to the kitchen, along with some bottles of fancy wines as well….Soon the apartment was filled with music, cooking, and suddenly very busy as dinner preparations were in place. The night looked like it was going to be a fun night after all, and it turned out to be. The four ladies had more than a few laughs as they had their dinner. Elena even told a joke.Caroline kept looking at her daughters, hoping the night never ended. It was a beautiful night with lots of pictures and selfies as well but Caroline did not need the pictures to remind her of that evening, the memories were etched in her heart forever.Elena watched for a while as her mother’s car pulled out of the driveway, she had made it through the entire night and could not wait to get into bed. She was very tired and her day had turned out okay. Much better than she expected it to be. It was so far, the best birthday she had ever had.She was damned tired. She walked away from the living area to the kitchen area and turned on the tap for a glass of water. Glass of water in hand, she strolled into her bedroom and dropped to the bed. She rolled over, took a sip of the water, and set the glass by her bedside table. She rolled back into the bed, her dinner clothes still on and within minutes she was drawn away to dreamland. And then, she saw him again! He, the beautiful stranger who had come to her dream one year ago, whom she had connected with like a magnet, whom she knew was a missing part of her, her soulmate.Elena had felt his gaze piercing through her soul, his heart calling her to him. He
On Tuesday morning, October 13th at exactly 6.00 am, Elena’s bedside alarm went off as it did every morning. But on that particular occasion, she did not practice her custom of letting it snooze for ten minutes, three times in a row. She jumped out of sleep and turned it off immediately to allow her to lay back in bed and reminisce about the night and dream she had. She lay in bed, alone in her thoughts as her mind ran through her just-concluded dream. The beautiful stranger had come to her dream again and he had left a part of him in her; his seed and she had left a part of her with him as well. Her hand went to her tummy as if to check for growing seed. Elena was lost in her thoughts. She
The quest to find the stranger in Elena’s dreams had begun. All she had to help her with this search was the image of his beautiful body imprinted in her heart and head; she used these to try putting a sketch together on paper. A sketch of her soulmate. Elena was an artist, or close to it. She could draw and paint very well. She had started as a young child in her hospital room, using pencils, paints, and crayons to develop her motor skills. Most of her early childhood days were spent at the hospital and these activities were the things she engaged in when she was not busy being too sick. And she enjoyed them. painting helped her express herself and her mother had hoped she would turn out to be the next great artist of her time. Her mother, Caroline had somehow hoped to see Elena grow into a spectacular artist with her work being displayed at museums. She had watched her daughter sketch, draw and paint many times; different things she saw at
Elena was fourteen years old the first time she realized her abilities. It was a cold Sunday afternoon, December 1st, the year 2013. Elena had lain in her very comfortable bed at the provincial children’s hospital with Caroline by her side. Caroline had gotten some terrible news from the doctor about her daughter’s condition that afternoon, it had to do with the fact that her daughter was not progressing or responding to treatments as the doctors had expected her to. So. Caroline had come into her daughter’s room with tears in her eyes, she was tired and her shoulders were downcast. She looked like she was about to cry but she held back her tears; she wanted to be strong for her daughter. She did not walk to Elena’s bed but instead stood by the window looking out towards the parking lot, her arm across her chest and the other on her face. “what is it, mummy?” Elena had asked in her faint voice. “Nothing honey. Go back to sleep” Caroline said a
It was Thursday, October 22nd, exactly one week since Elena completed the 3D sketch of her beautiful stranger. She had gone to bed for the past seven days hoping to see him in her dreams. She had even willed him to come to her, all to no avail. This made her sad and sometimes tearful. The urge to see him again was so strong that her body almost ached from it. She had hoped that having him sprawled on her sketchbook right there in her bedroom would help but it did not. She still could not figure out who he was and if she had met him before in her lifetime. Elena had even tried to run her sketch online via an image search to see if she could find him that way but it had turned out unsuccessful. She finally concluded that she needed a name for him, something she could call him, hoping the act would give her some attachment to him and so she came up with one; Liam. Liam was the beautiful stranger from Elena’s dream. She spoke his name at will, she started having imaginary conver
The realization that Cameroon had died seven years ago, dealt Elena a heavy blow. She was distraught and sick. She had consistently had a fever and a headache three nights in a row. Her throat was sore from all the crying and her heart was broken to the extent that she could almost see the pieces. Elena could not understand it. She had not met Cameroon except for the times in her dreams so why did it hurt so much? Cameroon was her soul mate; she was sure of that. She had never felt such a connection before, such a dependence like her heart was a little piece of his own like she was his missing rib. She could not understand why she was dreaming of him if he was already dead. If they did not have a destiny? If she would never see him in person! The questions kept pouring into her head. She had spent the whole week and more, in bed, researching and crying about everything she found. Cheryl was away at her boyfriend’s place and Elena could not be happier about it, she ne
While on the plane to Los Angeles, Elena thought about her plan to take revenge on Edward. Truth is, she did not have a well-constructed plan on how she would go about it. She had not thought it through, it had all been so sudden but there was no way she would have ignored her sister’s pain, knowing there was a chance that she could do something about it. But as the plane took off the ground, she began to doubt herself, all through the ride from Mississauga Ontario, to Toronto where she boarded the flight to LA, she had tried to turn her focus away from her sister’s pain, she
Cassandra was working late at her clothing factory. She had gotten a contract to create outfits for a top musician’s tour and she was running behind schedule. She was working long hours with her team to meet up with the orders. On that particular night, she was worried. It was almost 2.00 am, three hours since she had called her sister, Alexis, and had not heard back from her. It was very unusual of her; their mother had also mentioned how Alexis had left Canada after Elena had an episode. That was also very odd to Cassandra. She thought about calling Alexis again, but momentarily decided against it, she did not want to wake her from sleep; she knew how much Alexis treasured her nighttime, and coupled with the trip back, Alexis must have been exhausted. After thirty minutes of debating to call or not, She yielded to the temptation and made the call from her office. Alexis’s cell rang several times without a response. Cassandra ran her hand across her face and let

Dec 1st, 2013.In Sydney, Australia.Elena and Cameroon’s wedding day.It had been a long four months of wedding planning for Elena. Susan was going all out, helping her daughter plan the perfect wedding. The food, guest list, dresses, and all. But Susan wasn’t the only one, her friends too were helping. Every step of the way. All hands on deck. They had only four months to plan the perfect Billionaire wedding. But one thing everyone all agreed on from the start, was the location of the wedding. They were having it on Elena’s yacht. It had to be. It was the perfect location. Within that four months, Elena had gone house shopping with her soon-to-be husband, Cameroon and they had found the perfect home.It was a six-bedroom bi-level home. And Elena fell in love with it.It was the perfect fit. They had found out they were having triplets and so they needed a big home. The house was spread on a wide acre of Land. But some
Elena sat at the back seat of the Bentley. She had texted her friends to let them know she was on her way. And they confirmed that they were already there. waiting.
Sunny Friday afternoon- check.Cameras- check.Shopping bags- check.Five friends- check.Credit card- double-check.All items were checked as the five friends headed out on Friday to prepare for the dinner that was happening the next day. Carrie was the designated driver for the day. She picked everyone from their homes in her range rover. The friends had all screamed over the phone when Elena had told them the good news. She still felt weird that she was telling them before she told Cameroon but it already happened. Now they were all in Carrie’s car, riding to the first stop.Elena’s friends were all quick to jump on board. Just like Vanessa had been. And she noticed that too. They all seemed so eager.“So where’s our first stop?” Nicole asked as she entered the car. She was the last person to join them.“massages first, I already booked us an appointment at t
Elena leaned backward into her toilet seat and peed on the stick. She closed her eyes and waited. Counted even. And it turned out again with the positive sign. She had peed on six different sticks already. This was the seventh stick. And it was also positive.Jeez, she swirled around. She laughed, she cried. Nit painful tears but soft happy tears. She was pregnant. With Cameroon’s child. She was engulfed with a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. She wanted to run out to tell him but she was at her own apartment. Elena picked up the phone to call him and stopped herself. No, this wasn’t something she was going to tell him over the phone. She was going to tell him in person.Without a doubt, Elena knew that Cameroon was going to be excited about the news. Just as she was. Her parents were going to be excited too. And her friends! Oh her friends will be too. She placed her hands over her stomach. Straining to see if she could feel the ba
It had been three months since Elena broke things off with Jake. She hadn’t heard from him the whole time. But her friend, Nina had come to her. Nina had taken her to lunch on a sunny Monday afternoon. The meeting wasn’t planned, especially since the girls had gotten together for their usual weekly hangouts. But Elena hadn’t thought much about it. When she received Nina’s text. She simply nodded and drove to the location Nina had asked them to meet.By the time she arrived, Nina was already there. Under a square umbrella. Nina. Nina stood up and waved immediately she caught sight of Elena. And Elena walked to her table.“this early lunch is on you by the way.” Elena joked as she approached her friend.“hahaha. No Probs, Elena. It is nice to see you.”Elena pulled out a chair and sat in it. “it is nice to see you too, even though I saw you two nights ago.” She
Jake was in his home, alone in his thoughts. He had been binging on some movies the night before. It was a Friday night and he had wanted to talk to her. He had picked up his phone so many times but ended up putting it back down.He wanted her to come to him. He wanted her to choose him.And it was beginning to take forever. That made him sad. So he had sat in front of his TV, blocking everything out, and watched several shows till he fell asleep. He woke up the next morning, on his couch. He checked his phone first, no call had come in for him. Then he made his way to the bathroom. Before reaching the bathroom, his doorbell rang. His heartbeat surged. He guessed who it could be. He wasn’t expecting anyone and hadn’t made any orders. But he flung open the door. And there she was, Elena. He grinned. “come on in.” She accepted the invitation and stepped in. The smell of her perfume surrounded him as she came in. She clutched her bag li
The wine Cameroon had come with had a rich taste. Just like she had expected it to. It was a fourteen-year-old bottle made from one of the best wine yards in France.Elena poured herself another glass. Still silent. Her candle still burning. She started to play with his nipples. And Cameroon Jerked. He swallowed again.“Babe,” he whispered.“yes.”“I want to get to know you.”“This is you knowing me.” She teased. He could see the laughter in her eyes. She got up from the couch, set her glass on her desk, and stood in front of him.He looked up at her.She started to unbutton her shirt. She paused at the first button. And teased him some more with her eyes.Slowly, she opened one button after the other. Till she got to the end and then she slipped off the shirt. Her shirt fell to the ground. And spread. She took her hands to her back and unclasped her br
Friday arrived. It was a date night for Elena and Cameroon. And the perfect night. The night was slightly chilly. And the wind was stronger than usual.Elena had spent most of her day in the office. Preoccupied with work. She had caught up on almost all the backlogs and was the only person still in the office. The last person to leave checked out an hour ago. Even the cleaning service had finished up for the day.But not Elena. She was still working. Elena wasn’t exactly a workaholic, but on this day, she simply wanted to pour out herself till she was empty. She had started out the day with a lot of backlogs. That was one of the reasons. And the other reason? She was distracting herself. From thinking about him. Not him, Cameroon. But him, Jake. She had tried so hard to sleep the previous night. But had ended up staying late till 4.00 am and she was up again at 7.00 am.She couldn’t stop her brai
