Chapter 05 "Juiller World part 2"

In a small and moist room with low light, I sat on a hard wooden chair. The length of its four legs was unequal. My body repeatedly shook when I wanted to change position. The feeling of unease and fear enveloped my heart. Not because of the frightening aura of assorted weapons on display throughout the walls or the creak of rodents above the ceiling that could fall at any time. However, due to the presence of a big man sitting behind the desk in front of me.

Both his hands were on the table. As if deliberately showed off perfect muscles that formed over the shoulder until the arms. The singlet he wore made the sexy impression though he was already in the late fifties. His mustache and beard were the most abundant sources of this intimidation. It would make anyone who saw will give respect to him. Of course. Because he was Grussel, the group leader of hunters named Dark Night in this city. The existence of the hunter group was a secret. Just a bit of people knew about it. While for most people, Grussel was respected as a former warlord of the kingdom.

His eyes looked at me quietly, yet deadly. If the gaze could kill someone, maybe I'd died a hundred times because of it.

He slowly raised both hands to prop up his chin. "Earlier, Igresti told this to me. But I'd like to hear directly from you. Anggi..." His voice was heavy, and there was little emphasis tone when he called my name. "Was it true that you screwed up at the hunting last night?"

I immediately cast a glance at Igresti, who sat beside Grussel. That man stared at me cynically. A sly smile knotted on his lips, obviously directed at me.

"That bastard! Looks like he has a personal grudge against me. If so, he should resolve by facing me. Not to knock me down on Boss' face like this!" I cursed inside my heart.

Grussel cleared his throat. Demanding an answer that came from my mouth. Damn! I was a dead man. Igresti indeed has a big mouth. I was sure he added another 'spicy seasoning' to his story that told to the boss. But it couldn't be denied if the crux of the problem was purely my fault.

Sweat poured from my forehead drop by drop. Because of Grussel's big intimidation, the fear enveloped me. My mouth couldn't speak a word. My eyes were not able to look at him. Only keep waiting 'till the time was over. Until finally, Dimas, who had since been standing on the side, touched my shoulder. Giving a glimmer of warmth to get rid of the confusion in my heart. His eyes looked at me softly. A faint smile appeared on his face.

"Boss! I know it's Anggi's mistake. Exactly what was said by Igresti. I have to admit if that is indeed a stupid mistake. But could you forgive her?" Dimas said in a firm voice. Even not consumed by crazy intimidation of Grussel.

Grussel glanced at the man who opposed him. "Do you ... wanna be a hero for her? Do you think it would solve everything?"

"Of course not. But please reconsider, thinking we hadn't been in this town too long. It's definitely there are a lot of things we don't know. So, I beg your wisdom!"

"Do you know? I hate failure."

The muscular old man was obviously upset. He stood up from the rickety chair. Knocking sound echoing in this narrow room when he walked over. His eyes were grim. As ready to punch anyone in his way. Grussel stopped right in front of Dimas.

He looked at the young and handsome man standing before him from top to bottom. Afterward, he smiled wryly.

"You're probably right. I knew the feeling of being in an unfamiliar place. When I was a new soldier, I engaged with a platoon to infiltrate the Green Continent." When his voice was muffled, he continued to amble around us.

"The forest was very different from what I knew. Trees walked like humans. Tendrils of the trees danced as in the party. I swear, it's the weirdest place I've ever seen. As a result, not many of us survived. It doesn't matter how many enemies, how tough they are, what weapons they have. When facing the enemy, information is the primary weapon. So remember this if you want to be a real warrior." Grussel put his hand on Dimas's shoulder.  "You have to know the ins and outs of your enemies before conquering them. I hope this will be a lesson to you."

"Aye, sir!" Said Dimas respectfully. While I agreed without saying a word, as smiled at him.

"But ...."

Grussel then looked around. A moment later, he grabbed my face with his hands. His large palm allowed that old man grabbed my face entirely. The power that he gave was unsparing. If he had strengthened his grip to maximum, my head might have been shattered.

I groaned in pain. "Please, boss! Didn't you forgive me?"

"When did I say I would forgive you?"

"But your last words..."

I suddenly fell silent. My ears were still functioning as well. Even better than the people who were here. Everything sounds clear. If I recalled, not even one word from his mouth that he would forgive me. Looked like I was fooled by his last sentence and expressions. Grussel also said it with a low tone. So I thought he'd forgiven my actions.

If so, did it mean he still wanted to punish me? Oh shit! The bastard old man didn't keep his hands off away from my face despite being restrained by Dimas. He looked earnestly wanted to smash me. Damn! My struggle was meaningless. Our strength comparison was too high. My kicks and blows might just tickle him like a small child's. My breathing was so tight. Then I closed my eyes.

A moment later, my breath was back to normal. Grussel's palm had kept off from my face.

"Well, this time I forgive you," said Grussel. "But failure is a failure. I have to keep punishing Anggie somehow."

"Punishment?" Said Dimas with a stunning face.

"Yes!" The old man replied firmly. "The next hunt held next week. Until then, you're free to beg, steal, kill, or joining a brothel to sell your body. To make it simple, I don't wanna see your face for a week. Because of it ... fuck off out of here!!"

***

"Aw..!"

I cringed when a new fabric just plunged into cold water, pressing my face. That old bastard man's grip left a scar on my cheek. Not too severe, but quite painful. Fortunately, the pain was reduced at this time.

"Wait, I'll get the ointment!"

Kak Shella immediately rushed to the medicine storage closet near the entrance. Because the room was quite large, she took a while to get there from my bed in the room corner. Through the empty spacing between dozens of beds which aligned in two rows. Made every her steps echoing in this silent place. She opened the glass door, her hands expertly explored the rack containing medicines. It didn't take long. Her finger stopped on a small dark yellow bottle, it seemed that it was the previously mentioned ointment.

The girl then went back to my side. Pouring a little ointment on her hands, then smeared it over the wound bruise. It felt cool. The pain seemed to disappear instantly. Compared with the previous wet cloth, this fluid was more convenient and efficient.

"What is this drug made of?" I asked, my curiosity overcame.

"From the purple grass and wild salmon bones. How does it feel? It's great, isn't it? "

"Yes, it also feels very soft."

Kak Shella showed a glimmer of a thin smile. Then brought the ointment back into the drug shelves. She looked like a very reliable pharmacist. Graceful, gentle, always smiled and had a lot of good traits to others. When those things packed up made her appeal increasing. Even Dimas, who sat on the bed with me, was fascinated just looked at her. His eyes stared intently at that girl's back.

"Anggi," said Kak Shella, turned around in a snap. It was surprising, so Dimas immediately turned away.

"Yes?"

"Did you say need somewhere to stay for a week, right? Why don't you stay here?"

"That's my main purpose here."

Suddenly Dimas kicked my foot. "Shameless bastard!" He swore. Then snorted right in front of my nose.

"Ah, but you'd better ask for permission from Aunt Saantya!" I changed the style of my talk became more polite.

"I'm pretty sure she would allow it," said Kak Shella. Just when she would sit at the bed in front of us, suddenly she remembered something. "Ah, I forgot! Now it is my turn."

"What's turn?"

"Preparing dinner." She got up and hurried toward the exit. "Excuse me for a minute!"

"Wait!" I shouted. Kak Shella stopped. Turned around and cast a confused glance. Just before she asked me to convey what I meant. "What if Dimas helps you? It was our fault visiting you uninvited. So let us, ah no, let him help your duty."

"Wait a minute! Why should I?" Protested Dimas, his face seemed grouchy.

"Come on! Your cooking is delicious. Help Kak Shella! After all, you're just bugging me here! What about if my pain is getting worse?" I said, pushed him strongly.

We stared at each other for a while. Then Dimas sighed. The man immediately got up and moved toward the exit while I waved at them. In the last moments, before they disappeared entirely into the front hall, I caught a glimpse smile on Dimas's face.

I was also smiling. Imagining him got lovesick when alone with a girl who he was dearly loved. Dimas told me before that he began to like Kak Shella after becoming a pharmacist here. He also said that Kak Shella looked more elegant and charming. But I understood his feelings. Indeed Kak Shella was so lovely lately. So I thought it might be better to give Dimas a chance to get closer with the number one popular girl in my old school. I counted it as a return to him, who always helped me all the time.

Feeling bored in the treatment room, I walked out into the hallway. Fearing of medicinal smell infiltrates into the fibers of the clothes I wore. I stepped my feet on the carpet, which doused by moonlight in the open corridor. It felt fresh. The breezy wind blew on my face, tickling my neck. Then it almost flipped up my hood, which covered my head. But quickly, I hold it with my hands. I would definitely look like a protagonist who made her debut on the drama stage if I could just let free my long hair blown by the wind.

Then I strolled in the corridor.

The building was quite large and old. Although only two months ago was restored and repainted, the spooky and eerie impression still cling. It didn't seem fitting when used as a clinic. Aunt Saantya that I said before, was the owner and chairman of the Association of Doctors in Glafelden Town. When I said 'the doctor,' it was not a person who cured patients with advanced medical devices and chemical drugs. But 'the doctor' here treated the patient with medicinal herbs or some other traditional methods. So you're not going to find Paracetamol or Decongestant here. Moreover, This was another world.

I leaned on the railing and looked up. Seeing the night sky filled with dark blue and purple color, greenish shimmer space dust belt like Aurora. Clusters of stars that looked like the river bends and a massive star that illuminated the city. Rubiel, or can be called "Land of Heaven," Or so the inhabitants of this world called it. The Rubiel radiance was similar to the moon from my past world. Only a dozen times larger in size. The combination of all, it was a sight that eased my eyes.

Observing the night sky has been a new favorite thing since I got here. Earlier in my world, the sky like this one couldn't be found anywhere. So, I never got tired of looking at it no matter how many times I did.

But ... this sky really gave the impression of another world. The world that could be called 'Juiller.' I felt so bad for some reason. I remembered the first time coming into this world. If recalled, it would be pretty funny. I was a man before, now turned into a woman. Besides, a Haier-Elvian, was a very rare race in this world. Then I met the boss and his gang.

The last thing I never thought was ... I joined them! Ah ... of course, it was Grussel who invited me.

Nevertheless, I still wondered. What made me accept the offer?

Come to think of hunters as they were no different than thieves or robbers. Due not only hunting in other's territory but also doing dirty work, which avoided many people. I was sure everyone would agree with that. I accepted the offering at that time because maybe I wanted to do different things from my usual. Moreover, it could be used as the negotiations to accommodate my friends and me while finding a way back.

I sighed after a pensive moment.

Suddenly I remembered my goal that had begun to fade. In the past, I was eager to return to the homeworld. Not only me but other friends as well. During that time, we were searching for some information. The result was zero. No books or historical notes wrote about a parallel world. Here, that theory was totally unreal. We would be marked crazy when we said we came from another world. Therefore, we agreed to keep this a secret.

At first, we still believed we would come back again one day. However, with time, we began to forget the original purpose. Our anxiety and fear disappear little by little. Of course, because residents of this town were friendly enough and willing to receive us. Until one year had passed. Most of us even started to consider this world as a home.

For example, Kak Shella. She was the most frightened when we couldn't go back. She was worried about a lot of things. But as you could see, she seemed to be happy to stay here. Serving many patients with a genuine smile and cheerful. It was as if she and this city had been assembled for a long time, likewise with me. I'd yielded. Trying to make this world my home from this moment onwards.

"Hey, Anggi! Dinner is almost ready. Come to the dining room soon!" Dimas shouted from down the hall. I nodded as a response.

The man disappeared down the hall. At the same time, I walked into the dining room. Because I wanted to fill my stomach immediately. But a moment later, my eyes saw a glimmer of light in the side yard. It was near the outer fence. Hidden by weeds. The dazzling golden color looked very familiar.

Reminding me of a mysterious object from the river in the past.

"Maybe it's a ...!!"

Without wasting time any longer, I jumped up the fence. My pants got caught and made me fall. Even the hood I wore was loose. Not giving the slightest care about it, I immediately got up. Passing an expansive yard right beside the building. There was only a dim lantern in this place. Its light wasn't bright enough. So I figured whatever it was, radiating the radiance itself. Not reflected by garden lantern. Almost exactly the same as the incident one year ago. While on the river, suddenly a strange object made me pick it up because of its glow. If this was the same thing at that time. Could it be that I could return to my original world? However, my hope instantly vanished. When I approached it, the light was flying up high. Then it flew close to me and landed on my nose. "A beetle?" This was the first time I saw this kind of insect. The beetle was very similar to fireflies. But its size was as an adult thumb. Moments later, that bug flew away. I felt

"Stop calling me that, Almira! You make me like a rare animal." I grumbled. Folding both hands across my chest while looking at her in resentment."But you are indeed rare, aren't you?" She chuckled, then shrugged her shoulders like innocent ones. Thus sat on the sofa opposite me. "I know your purpose here. You wanna ask me to teach you Esze again, right?"I nodded quickly. It was a great help if Almira already knew my intention here, so I didn't need to suffer any more for explaining it from the beginning."You ... always come here and beg for it." That Elvian woman took a deep breath. Stretching both her hands on the sofa. "At least bring me some food out there, brat!""Had you forgotten? I often treat you and your kid.""It was just food stalls. Treat us to a fancy restaurant, so we can have a deal.""All right, but not in a short time. Because that old bastard man just kicked me out. So I'm completely broke right now.""Huh, kicke

I was stunned. Compared to realizing when Kohru, the cute animal was Elvian's pet that could rage like a tiger, this made me more surprised. How could someone come out of the blue, suddenly asked was I a human being or not? Although I didn't make up my face to enhance the disguise. I was sure enough to fool others.A drop of sweat appeared on my forehead. An idea crossed my mind if this woman was a kind of witch capable of reading people's thoughts. Came from the royal capital and accidentally met me. I felt so bad. There would be a big problem if people knew that I was a Haier-Elvian."What? I don't understand what you mean," I said, pretending not to understand a thing."You know what I mean, young girl! Although your skin and hair color resembles a human being," in one blink, her hand already entered into my hood. Then stroked my long ears from the bottom up to the top. I didn't have time to react. Just silent like a marble statue for a while, "but not with l

I gasped. Five seconds ago, there was an exotic tropical woman in front of me. But now, she'd turned into a beautiful fairy figure. Her body looked graceful. A sweet smile adorned the face. A beautiful woman like her was hard to find. It almost made me wonderstruck. My consciousness returned, I tried to grasp it all. How could be a human who turned into an Elvian? But wait! I thought I had missed something. Oh yeah! Didn't she say she was the former scouts? That means she was a patrol force of West Elvian Kingdom. Did she come here to arrest me who had repeatedly been hunting in their territory? Suddenly I became wary once. I was tightly gripping the sofa handle. My eyes didn't turn away for a moment from that Elvian woman, afraid if she would make any sudden movements. I thought of running from this place immediately. The fatigue was no longer felt. But what if she was after me again? In this head, appearing concerns and questions with uncertain answers. Swe

Without realizing it, the sun had climbed up to the top of my head. The heat should have struck when the sun was shining. But I didn't have to worry about being burned. A collection of tall trees around protecting my skin from the sunray. The foliage was lush and leafy. Made a shade for anyone on the ground.I was in Tenerif Forest, a forest directly adjacent to the West Elvian Kingdom. Together with Almira, we walked along the edge of a big river dividing the forest into two. Sometimes the woman looked across the land, perhaps missing the homeland where she came from. While I was looking at Kalen River, where my friends and I first came to this world. We both walked in silence, passing the pebbly river rocks and sand.Around here, there was no one. I took off the straw hat given by Kak Shella and draped it over my back. Likewise, Almira appeared confidently with her Elvian form. Our sharp sense could feel if someone approached. So we weren't afraid when we both got ca

This was my third day since Grussel drove me out of the base. After that, I hadn't met with any members of Dark Night at all. Likewise Dimas. I wonder what he was doing now. The town wasn't too big. We could easily meet or cross paths, let alone this Aunt Saantya's clinic building, which wasn't too far from the hunter base. Perhaps he had forgotten about his best friend.Even though I wanted to be accompanied by someone in a dull time like this. I couldn't disturb Kak Shella or my other friends. They were working during the day like this. Only the hunter had a long spare time when the sun was still shining. Of course, I couldn't just visit them. The bastard old man indeed would drive me away.I let out a long sigh. Staring out the window of my room, which was on the third floor in a large building behind the clinic. Not much could be seen from here. Just buildings that were built so close to each other and people passing below. Actually, I wanted to buy something

I forced my head to think harder, trying to understand the book's content once again. But it remains the same. The book said the Spirit Crystal of Hope was a star-shaped pin. No doubt. It was the mysterious glowing object that brought me into this world.Spirit Crystal of Hope, Nadjieza. Being able to grant any hopes came true. It was still weird. If the object I picked up was indeed a real one, why the earth did that thing drag my friends and me to this place? I didn't remember to demand a great adventure in another world and became a woman. After all, wasn't it belonged to the Goddess of Hope? What the heck that thing doing in my former world?Geez! I really couldn't connect all these facts into a single line. My body became limp. I bowed my body like a ball while hugging the book with both hands and closed my eyes tightly. Suddenly, an idea came up. There was someone who seemed to know about this."Almira!" I cried. "Yes, it's true. She is Elvian. Maybe she k

The dusk wore on, the atmosphere in this bar was increasingly busy. Some workers who had finished their work stopped by here just to eat something or rest for a while after working all day long. From the double doors that opened wide, people who came in were more than going out. Making this shop more packed. So, sharing the table between them wasn't rare. The frenzied sound burst abysmally, made our meeting were not conducive. It seemed we picked the wrong place and time.Right now, Dimas, Kak Shella, Vian, Vani, and I were holding a meeting. Only five persons were present because of only us who were still living in Glafelden Town. The rest were mostly boys, signed into the royal army in the capital, or became an itinerant assistant merchants. We had just finished having dinner. Leaving dirty dishes on the table. I gathered them here to tell the information I just obtained a few days ago. The Spirit Crystal. I also mentioned two solutions given by Almira and asked for

A loud thumping sound was created as the wisp of wind smashed against the wall and caused part of the ceiling to collapse. Luminous rocks, dirt, and pebbles rained down from above. Half of the vast square was covered in thick dust, making it impossible to guess where Dimas was.My energy was gone. Chill ran down the spine and gave this body a feeling of intense horror. While hanging on to the root fibers of the Hanarusa tree, my eyes widened. Looking down, hoping that Dimas would immediately come out of the dust and attack the monster's feet like before. However, he still didn't appear even though time had passed. Beads of sweat dripped from my forehead. Not a word was spoken from this mouth while hoping for the best possibility. But when? Until when should I keep hoping? What if that hope never appeared?Negative questions kept coming to my head, making me unable to think clearly. Coupled with excessive indecision and anxiety, my fear is getting worse. I looked up. My eyes locked on two lights shining in the darkness. Part of my brain had sent orders to this body to leave immediately. But some were curious about what was behind the gap in the wall. The feeling of horror was increasingly enveloping my whole body and making me completely numb. Cold sweat started pouring down profusely when my ears caught a growling sound inside the gap. I froze, too shocked and couldn't remember to move. Needless to say, Dimas was frightened too. This was the first time I'd seen his hands shaking like this. Though usually, he was not afraid to face anyone, even though his opponent was the Elvian army.I forced myself free from the stiffness of my body, trying to move my legs little by little."Dimas! Dimas!" I screamed loudly, but the man ignored me. My hand grabbed Dimas' shoulder, then shook his body hard to wake him up."Uh, what?" he answered, looking confused. He was too fixated on a figure and ignored the other stuff."Let's get out of here quick

"No, Fool!" he replied curtly. "Haven't you gotten more of an idiot lately?""I already get it. But you don't really mean to go down there, do you? What if the Spirit Crystals aren't there?""We won't know unless we go, right?"I scratched the back of my head even though it didn't itch. Maybe it was an expression of my frustration when I found out what Dimas meant. At first glance, the idea may seem frivolous. Even though I saw a massive room underground, I wasn't sure what it was.It was like winning the bet if the Spirit Crystal was in that room. Conversely, we might find an underground monster lair. When using Super Sense, I only saw the dirt wall and the roots of the Giant Hanarusa tree. However, down there was still dangerous. It could be that there was a nest of centipedes, worms, or other monsters that were giant in size. However, I'm curious. After thinking for a while, I decided to go down the hole. Before finally leaving her job and family after marrying a human. Are we talking about the same person?" I immediately covered my wide-open mouth. Unable to contain the shock of such an unexpected coincidence, I shuffled back a little. "Yes, you're right. My friend Almira is indeed Elvian, who eloped with her husband," "How is she now? I haven't seen her in years," Elzhar asked enthusiastically as if he didn't care about the condition of his body that had not fully recovered. "She's fine, really. Indeed she lived a simple life, but she is now happy. I've never met her husband. I think he's a loving husband. Oh, yeah! The water discharge was swift enough to submerge this forest as deep as two meters in a short time.Fortunately, I was already on top of the Hanarusa tree, which was quite high and far from stagnant water. The Elvians called this giant bonsai tree that way. I didn't know where the name came from. At least now I knew the right name for this tree. Then for this forest, they named it the Hanarusa Sacred Forest. It seemed the Elvians respected highly to this forest for some reason I didn't understand."After this, we head to that tree!" exclaimed the limp young Elvian while pointing to a Hanarusa tree near me." We have to make a detour to a deserted place.""Okay," I answered briefly. It was a normal reaction for people from another world like us. Even when I first arrived in Ruvia City, I was just as enthusiastic as them. Looked around with sparkling eyes like a peasant. Looking back, my reaction was even worse."Let's go down immediately!" exclaimed Dimas, who immediately left me, followed by Shella behind him.Geez! Although the howl didn't last long, my energy was drained just to endure the deafening sound. My body almost fell to the ground if my brain didn't give me the command to stay alert. I cast my gaze forward. The bear monster had thick white fur similar to a polar bear, it was about three stories tall. The beast had two pairs of arms and two legs, with a fat, flabby body.I briefly remember the Biology lessons taught in my old world. This monster was similar to Tardigrada, a microscopic animal shaped like a bear. The shape of the head that only had a mouth without eyes was also very similar. I even felt that the monster standing in front of me was initially a Tardigrada who was enlarged with a Doraemon magnifying flashlight, then given a h
