Emma leaned against the wall, her eyes glazed as if everything happening in front of her had nothing to do with her. She pretended to be asleep as the woman placed her child down to one side. The woman hurried over to the group, clutching the hem of her shirt with trembling hands, yet she tried to stay calm. Hearing the sound, they turned and saw the woman approaching with a weak and frail appearance, their faces twisted in anger as they glared at her.

“What are you doing out here? Do you want to get beaten to death?”
