CHAPTER FIFTY TWO

Claude shuffled through the papers in her hand as she watched her classmates filter out of the exam hall. She hadn't done too badly on the test, but her mind was preoccupied with a strange feeling she had encountered Lady Macbeth earlier.

As the last student exited the room, Claude took a deep breath and made her way over to Lady Macbeth, who was still sitting at her desk, sorting through the exam scripts.

"Excuse me, Lady Macbeth?" Claude said tentatively.

The older woman looked up and smiled warmly at her. "Yes, dear? Is there something I can help you with?"

Claude hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to broach the subject. But she figured she had nothing to lose.

"I was wondering if I could ask you about something that happened if we've met before?" she said, trying to keep her voice steady.

Lady Macbeth's expression shifted slightly, becoming more guarded.
