CHAPTER 57. ReeneI admired the scenery outside, through the glass windows, marveling at how beautiful it was. I had always been a nature lover, albeit. That wasn't the reason I was standing close to the window so early in the morning, still clad in my nightwear though. It was in a bid to divert my mind from Kaden.I hadn't slept a wink all night, tossing and turning around. Praying to the Moon goddess that morning would dawn soon enough.I couldn't wait to see him."Prinzessin," a knock came at the door just then. I whirled around, rubbing on my arms."Yes, come in." The door creaked open, and a servant walked in. One thing I had noticed at Hezen was that every single one of them, from the servants up to the Alpha, were always smartly dressed. And beautiful too."The Königin requests that you head downstairs for breakfast. The Alpha is also there with her." She bowed."Oh, sure. Tell them to start without me. I'd be downstairs soon." I smiled."Yes, Prinzessin."
CHAPTER 58. KadenThe hallway was large, and brightly illuminated. Brandon closely tailed me, however I knew he was also admiring the decor. I had always prided myself on the beauty of my pack, but at that moment, all pride dissolved into dust. The chandeliers were made from gold, I was sure, judging from how beautiful they looked. Roman styled ceilings added more subtle beauty to it. Most of the walls were made of glass, thick one.It had taken me a day to convince the council to allow me leave the pack. I hadn't told anyone, even Gaius about the call, or where I was headed to. When his pestering had become much, I had lied that I was going to the Redwood pack. That had created diversion enough. 'Plus lots of unnecessary advice I hadn't needed.' After walking for a while, the beautifully dressed servant stopped in front of a cream colored door."The Prinzessin would be here soon." And she ushered us in.A frown however crept up my face. I was fluent in different lan
CHAPTER 59. Reene"So," I broke away from the kiss. "Why don't I show you to our room?" I led him out of the room, and down the hallway, hoping I wouldn't get lost. I didn't.Once we were safely within 'our' room, he tried groping me, and pulling me close to him, but I held out my hand. My breaths came out in shallow pants. He had taken my confession calmer than I had expected. And it was better I told him about the miscarriage while we were at it.A concern made its way into his eyes. "What's wrong love?" My confidence left me, and I took a step back. "I have something else to tell you." I lowered my head, unable to meet his gaze."Can it wait?" I felt the urgency in his tone. An urgency that matched mine. Ever since I smelt his scent again, my wolf had been restless within me. We had missed him so much."I'm afraid it can't." If I didn't tell him now, I wasn't sure I'd do so later. "Look at me, Amber." He ordered calmly.I felt myself obeying his command. His stare
CHAPTER 60. Kaden"You must be mistaken. Gaius isn't a spy. He was my father's friend." I insisted. My eyes met Brandon's, and he winced."I'm afraid, it's the truth." Alpha Aurel sighed. I looked up at the ceiling, wishing on the goddess to wake me up from this nightmare. It didn't work. When I brought my gaze down, the others were staring at me solemnly. My childhood flashed through my mind. Gaius had been like my uncle. He had been so sweet and kind."But how?" It seemed ridiculous. If it was really true, then Alpha Dennison was a great force to be reckoned with.I gulped, and tried steadying my breath. Amber tightened her hold on my hand, and slowly but steadily, I regained my composure."Do you know about the witches?" Amber's mother spoke up. I shook my head, but didn't reply.Looking at her closely, she didn't seem like a werewolf. Her hair was white, and that was weird enough. "I am one. Alpha Dennison is joining hands with the rogue witches. They want to wipe
Chapter 61. Kaden"You should wipe off that grim look, Alpha Kaden." A teasing voice wafted into my ears.I narrowed my eyes at the owner. It was Detlef, Alpha Aurel's Beta. I had woken up on the wrong side of the bed today, and could the day get any worse?I was stuck in the same car with Detlef. It was already an incredible feat that I hadn't strangled him."I believe we aren't close enough for you to tell me what to do." I retorted."Well, I believe the Prinzessin wouldn't like to see that look on you." He shrugged, turning his gaze away.I stifled a growl. "Talk about her again, and you'd have your balls in your mouth." I threatened, my voice dripping with menace."Easy lover boy. Tch, that's the worse thing about love. It turns you into an idiot." He shook his head, and flashed me a mocking look of pity."Call me a lover boy again, and see how-" I began saying when Brandon interrupted me."What's the plan?" He asked in his characteristic calm tone.I swallowed down
Chapter 62. ReeneFor some reason, I couldn't tell, I'd felt unsettled all day. My heart felt as though it had been gripped by a vice and something bad was on its way, but I couldn't quite figure out what it was. Talk about waking up on the wrong side of the bed again. I shook my head, pacing my room restlessly as I glanced occasionally at the portrait on the wall. It was a beautifully drawn fountain.A creak sounded on the door, and I turned around sharply. With a calm demeanor, my mother stood at the door entrance."Königin," I muttered, flashing a ghost of a smile. I noticed her wince, which she quickly hid, with a smile. My heart clenched, and a brief feeling of guilt, washed over me. I should be calling her 'mother,' yet I couldn't bring myself to."You're still up?" I hugged myself, as she strolled in."Yeah, I couldn't sleep." She shrugged. "How is it going?" She continued, looking around the room. I could tell from the look on her face that she had somethin
Chapter 63. KadenA couple of days had passed since the harrowing rescue. I still remembered the moment like I was reliving it a second time because of how tedious and miraculous rescuing Trisha had been. At a point I thought it wasn't going to be possible but thankfully we were able to pull through it and get her out of the danger before it was too late. The Forest of Void wasn't a safe place for anybody to be due to the dangers that it housed. A lot of spine-chilling stories were told about the forest and the people who had got lost in it, never to be seen or heard from again. The life in Hezen, by the way, was gradually getting more and more familiar and I was gradually picking the morning rituals and routines that came with being here. I also found happiness whenever I was with Reene, not to mention. Alpha Aurel's help the whole time that we had been there. Since Trisha was getting better and everything at this point went like clockwork, I couldn'
Chapter 64. Reene.I stood at the balcony watching as the car roared to life. I couldn't help the way I felt about him leaving. I wished I could stop him now and let him know that I didn't quite trust him going back to the pack. They had clenched my heart again like a vice-grip and no matter how much he tried not to think about it, the thought always stuck like a leech. Something deep down told me that a very grave situation was about to happen within our Pack and him going back was only going to fuel it.As I stood there, watching as the SUV started getting tiny in the distance ,the pang of angst continued to intensify and I wondered if it was all connected to the terrible thoughts and feelings that had plagued me lately. I wished he had listened to me at least, things might not have been going this way. But he was always the stubborn type who never listened to advice and went on to do whatever came to his mind. After a while of standing there, I couldn't stay
