Matilda tossed her phone angrily onto the bed and screamed, “Haaaaaa!” at the top of her lungs, but none of the servants dared show up. They were used to this in the Anderson household. Everyone in the family, except Liliana Anderson, acted like a bunch of mad people—breaking things or yelling at the top of their lungs like it was some sort of therapy.

To say she wasn’t frustrated would be a big lie. Master was in New York, and how was she supposed to tell him that Liliana was no longer under their control?

Matilda herself had given Liliana the pill, and she’d almost died in the process. She knew that without Master’s help, she wouldn’t have been able to get rid of Evelyn or even imagine herself married to James.

She knew she couldn’t hide forever. Matilda had been coming up with excuses to avoid seeing him, but she knew it was only a matter of a day or two before he sent someone to drag her to him.

Matilda paced nervously in the driveway, clutching her car keys. Her usual driver had been dismissed with a cold excuse of needing “privacy,” and now, she was gripping the steering wheel of her luxury sedan like it was a lifeline. She didn’t often drive herself—why should she? But this wasn’t the kind of visit she wanted anyone else to witness. As the towering iron gates of an old, industrial-looking street loomed ahead, she slowed to a stop. A hulking man stepped out of a hidden booth, his body brimming with muscle and menace. His face was expressionless, but his sharp eyes bore into hers as he leaned down to peer through the window. Before Matilda could say a word, he stepped back and pressed a button on a small device. The gates groaned open, revealing a sprawling compound that looked like a blend of a high-tech laboratory and a fortress.Matilda’s fear grew with every inch the car rolled forward. Inside, the space was stark and clinical. The walls were metallic, with strips of gla

“So, you’re telling me that you fed my toy a pill?” Master’s voice thundered through the room, the walls seeming to vibrate with the sheer force of his anger. His piercing gaze bore into Matilda, who trembled on her knees, barely holding herself upright. “How the fuck did you get access to it?”The silence that followed was suffocating, broken only by Matilda’s shallow breaths and the faint hum of machinery in the background. The Master’s fists clenched tightly at his sides, his knuckles white with rage.Which one of his men had betrayed him? Who dared to give her access to something so dangerous? His mind raced, a volatile mix of confusion, fury, and disbelief swirling within him. How could this happen? And worse, how had she survived? The Master’s aura darkened, an almost tangible wave of menace radiating from him. It was as though the room itself shrank under the weight of his wrath, the air growing colder with each passing second.Matt, standing near the doorway, swallowed hard. H

The question struck Gray like a physical blow. His eyes darted nervously to Matilda, who was still trembling on her knees, then back to Master. “I—” he began, his voice faltering. He hadn’t checked in a long time. Months, maybe even longer. He had gotten complacent, assuming that nothing could disrupt her conditioning.“I-I don’t…” he stammered, his throat tightening.Master’s eyes narrowed, his expression a terrifying mask of cold rage. “Speak up!” he thundered, the force of his voice reverberating through the room.Gray flinched, his words choking in his throat. Before he could muster a response, Matilda’s muffled sobs broke the tense silence. The Master’s head snapped toward her, his gaze venomous. “If I hear so much as another breath from you,” he said, his voice dropping to an ominous growl, “I will cut off your head and feed it to my dog.”Matilda froze, her sobs dying in her throat as she clamped her hands over her mouth, desperate to stifle even the faintest sound. Matilda remained motionless, tears streaming silently down her face as she braced herself for the storm that showed no signs of subsiding. The room was heavy with dread, the atmosphere oppressive as Master’s wrath churned like a hurricane, threatening to consume everyone in its path.Master’s rampage continued, his fury a relentless force that demanded release. His voice boomed through the room, shaking even the walls. “You!” he bellowed, jabbing a finger at Gray. “I told you to always check! How dare you neglect your duty? Clark’s face went pale, beads of sweat rolling down his temples as he tried to blend into the background.

The silence in the car was deafening. The air between them crackled with unspoken tension, and every passing second felt like an eternity. Jerry had never been one for awkward moments—he usually thrived on them, twisting discomfort into charm. But even he found himself unable to break the heavy stillness.Chloe sat stiffly in her seat, her eyes glued to the window as if the blur of the city streets offered some escape from the man beside her. She hated how unsettled she felt, how her outburst earlier had chipped away at the armor she’d worked so hard to maintain.“Do you always sit this straight?” Jerry finally said, his voice light with feigned curiosity. “Or is it just because you’re sitting next to me?”Chloe didn’t flinch, didn’t even turn her head. “Focus on the road, Mr Manchester,” she replied, her tone ice-cold.“Oh, I am,” he said with a grin. “I just thought maybe you’d loosen up a little now that we’ve had our little heart-to-heart back there. Comforting someone? That’s about as likely as you taking a vow of silence.”“Now, that’s just mean,” Jerry said, his grin widening. “You know, darling, for someone who pretends to be all tough and unshakable, you’re awfully quick with the sass. Almost like you’re trying to impress me.”Chloe pinched the bridge of her nose, exhaling slowly as if summoning patience from some deep reserve. “No, Mr Manchester. I’m trying to survive this punishment without losing my sanity, and you’re not helping.”He shrugged, clearly enjoying every second of her exasperation. “Hey, if my presence is driving you crazy, that’s not my fault. Chloe went out and waited by the car for Jerry, who had just left her for a few minutes while stepping out to give some orders.Chloe was thinking about how to go about this new assignment, but she knew she needed her boss. However, Liliana’s new behavior reminded her of the Liliana that employed her—cold, calculative, and most importantly, emotionally unstable. But that was what made her who she was back then. A few months after working for her, the ice queen in her surfaced, and the old her seemed like a dream of hers. After her almost-death fiasco, Liliana changed to a more rational and emotionally empathetic person. All these changes made Chloe believe her boss might have a split personality, but she decided to go with the flow. The sound of Jerry’s footsteps pulled her from her thoughts. Fairy tales didn’t exist. Ray had always known that. And yet, he had let himself believe. Believe that after everything, he could finally have his happy ending. That Lily would come back, that they would put all the chaos behind them and just… be. But four months had passed. Four months, and she was nowhere to be found. And in those four months, she had caused more destruction than she probably even realized. The Anderson family was gone. The Manchester family had been silenced. The power structures that once dictated everything had crumbled beneath the weight of her actions. And yet, the world had gone eerily quiet. The media barely spoke about it. There were no reports, no scandalous headlines, no outrage. It was as if the universe had conspired to erase all traces of her, making her untouchable. He couldn’t reach her. He couldn’t speak to her. He couldn’t even see her. It was hell. And the worst part? It was starting to feel like the version of hell he had

You’ll carry this pain with you. Every damn day.”Jerry’s jaw clenched. He knew that already, he knows deep down he will never get over losing his love right before it could even blossom.Lilly reached out and placed a hand over his.“But you’ll learn to live with it,” she whispered. “Because that’s what Chloe would have wanted.
