Comforting her

After they were done making plans for how to look for Mia, Sophia ventured outside the packhouse and into the garden outside.

It was a peaceful night, with a clear star-lit sky.

But there was no peace for her. There would never be. Liam was gone, and it was all her fault.

She had been so hopeful that she would find Mia at Blackstorm and make her pay for what she had done.

But she had failed at that too.

She had not only been unable to protect her little brother, but now, she could also not make his murderer pay.

What kind of sister was she?

She recalled Liam’s pained cries as he begged her to help him. He had thought she could help him because she was his big sister. But she had turned out to be useless. She had failed him when he needed her the most, and she could never make it up to him.

She should have gone looking for him as soon as he went silent. She should have known it was all Mia’s plan–who else had a beef against them at the moment?
