"Damian! My man!" It's Xu Shito, approaching me with a broad smile on his face as he lay his arms wide as if he's about to hug me.
"Hello, my brother! What brings you here?" I also responded to his smile with a much broader smile as respect.
Right now I'm in my newly built house. After graduating college in economics, I pursued another course which is automotive design education to help me establish my business. Since I know business and car making, I can work for Shin while establishing my own business brand.
This man right here is a famous car dealer, his company 'Shin' is known as one of the world's most expensive and good quality cars, it received excellent reviews across the globe and working there has lots of benefits for me. During my college intern, the owner gave me a chance to work for him for around a month and a half, and my designs pleased him to the point that he asked me to be his brother. He kept in touch with me right away and promised that he would personally hire me for his company after I graduated.
Studying while doing business is a tough thing to do, luckily my mind can handle complex problems and solve them in an efficient manner. This house's construction started two years ago. At that time, my business was growing, and I was still studying in my second college year. Right now, Xu Shito is here to hire me in his company.
"My man! Your house looks superb! It looks like a mansion to me!" He looked around, and he flicked his thumbs up and raised it towards me.
I swayed my hand into the air. "Nah, this is nothing compared to yours," I smirked.
"You think so? When I was at your age, I could barely earn anything."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you started pretty strong, and not everyone can do that."
I smiled and somehow shook my head off.
"I guess I'm pretty lucky then?" I smiled.
He grabbed both of my shoulders and shook me off. "No!" He said as he waves his pointing finger in front of me, left and right. "You're smart, luck is short-term, you did it for many years until now." He released his grasp on my shoulder, and he walked away, "Imagine being a consistent rank one in class since high school. You even got yourself accelerated from the first year to the fourth year in high school and still able to cope up with all the lessons." He shook his head off as he grinned, "That ain't no luck brother."
I smiled and bowed since I couldn't straightly look into him with all the flattery.
"What brings you here?"
"You know the deal brother, I pick you up for your first day at work."
"You come to pick me up personally?"
"Yes, why not? Besides, we should also celebrate your graduation, especially your achievements. We're families remember?"
'Family eh?' A word I never felt for several years until now. Very nostalgic.
I was about to take a step to follow him when I feel a familiar feeling that occurs when the scenario is about to change. And yes, I am right. This time, it's the scene that I hate reminiscing the most.
Right now, I am wearing a good-looking suit. I brought my Bugatti La Voiture Noire with me, and to be honest, my attire and my car don't fit this roguish place. But of course, I still have to go here, because I made a promise.
As I walked out of the car, I noticed mobs of people staring at me. They must be wondering where the hell I came from and what am I doing in this place.
To my surprise, this place hasn't changed at all for a decade. Same people but older faces, same house but uglier. Nothing changed; nothing improved. It's just them and their pathetic lives. If I didn't leave this place, my situation would be no better than theirs. As I walk past these people and old familiar houses, the more I realize that leaving this place is truly a blessing.
A young woman was running towards our old house and shouted, "Jane! Let us go to the plaza together!"
It took a while when suddenly a young woman came out of the house wearing rugged trousers and a shirt with cuts and few stitches, and she's carrying a small pouch with her. She shouldered the girl as she smiles to greet her. "Let's go?" Jane said as she walked up front.
"Where are you going?" She chuckled. "The plaza is this way." The girl said as the both of them faced backward.
At that very moment, Jane's eyes and mine met. But it took a while for her to recognize me. Her tears are slowly clotting from her eyes as she dropped the pouch that she was carrying.
"D-damian? B-brother? Is that you?"
I approached her and kneeled in front of her while patting her head. "Yes, it's me, little sister." I smiled.
"W-why did you come back?"
"I'm here to fulfill my promise."
"But, I thought you will never come back again?"
"Who told you that?"
"M-mother."
I took a deep breath, "Where is she?"
Jane pointed her fingers towards our house. "She's there, doing her usual job, disintegrating junks she got from yesterday to sell."
I shook my head off. I was about to get up when I heard someone shouted.
"Janeeeee!! What are you doing? Where are yo-" She didn't finish her words when she saw me.
"Who are you?" She frantically walked outside as she grabbed Jane's wrists and pulled her away from me. "I told you not to talk to strangers Jane, how many times do I have to tell you that?"
"B-but mom! She's my brother Damian, he's back, he fulfilled his promise!"
Mom looked at me with her eyes piercing through my skin.
"Y-you have no brother whose name is Damian." She hugged Jane, "Didn't I tell you that a long time ago?"
"B-but mom, how can I forget someone like him? He's been always a good brother to me."
"He's not, remember Jane? He left us! Just like your dad!"
"No mom! He left us for good! Dad never came back, but brother, he's here now already." She averted from mother's embrace and ran towards me.
"M-mother, look how Jane missed me, didn't you missed me too?" I smiled as I approach her. However, she took off her slippers and threw them at me. "You scoundrel! Don't you dare touch my daughter! You are a molester! A despicable human being!" She exclaimed to the point that her veins would almost pop out as her tears drip rapidly, that her face is now all wet. "I don't have and I will never have a son like you!" Everyone was now staring at us with a questioning look etched on their face.
I nodded my head and wiped my tears with my hands. "Understood, I'm sorry for disturbing you, I just thought that maybe I pick you guys up so that you can come and live with me, I just thought that maybe I can give you a better life now."
"Better life? So you think you're living a better life just because you have the money and all that luxurious shit around you?" She smirked and shook her head off, "If you think that our life here is trash, let me tell you this straight Damian," She pointed her finger at me, "A son who abandons his family is no better than trash. I'd rather live like in hell like this than being in heaven with a traitor like you."
"I'm sorry," I said as I bow my head down.
"B-brother! Never mind mom, she's just frustrated and depressed that she couldn't do anything to make you stay! All those words! She didn't mean that!"
"Nah, I understand, it's completely fine." I sighed.
Mother somehow calmed herself a bit, "Damian! Please! Leave this place, the moment you walked out of the house and chose to be selfish, you're no longer a part of this family. We don't need you now, and we will never need you." She said as she fell on her knees. Jane assisted her and helped her to stand up. I can see many people are watching us, and I can hear their murmurs. "I can never forgive you, Damian! Remember that."
That's it. That line woke up the hell out of me. Why am I here anyway? I did this for them; I did this for their good, but hell yeah, of course, I did this for myself. I have accomplished my goal, and their opinion is no longer valid.
I nod in agreement with what my mother has said. "You're right, you're right, don't worry, I understand." I once again walked away from the people I once called my family, but this time, I'll never come back. If they don't accept me, then so am I. "Jane, send my regards to the others. I'll head home now." I looked back and smiled at her. "Bye."
It etched the anger on my heart, but I don't want to waste my emotions on people like them who don't understand how life works. I have achieved my goal already, and people like them are irrelevant. If there's an obstacle, eliminate it. Indeed, from what I can see, these so-called 'family' are a bunch of obstacles that I have to eliminate now.
Once again, after that last scene from my piece of memory, a familiar feeling rose, devouring my entire existence. But this time, there's no new memory came up. It's the darkness that engulfed everything before me.

'What now?'
"Aurken's POV""Shiiiiiiit !!!!" I shouted. That kuishinbo nearly killed me, damn!"There are still many kuishinbos!" Simon shouted as he fled. "Stay alert!""Fuck! " On the other hand, Shiro is killing the devourers, also known as 'Kuishinbo' "Sir! This is bad! What are supposed to do?"Shiiiiit, considering the situation, we might all be finished, it's not right, I just ranked up, it can't be, I need to think of something."Call the tanks!" We will not win if we are scattered. I have to devise some sort of formation. "Fighters! Lure all of the kuishinbos here!" I looked at the fighters, and they nod. "While tanks! As the kuishinbos are being brought here, absorb all the damage! We will retreat for the meantime as you build three rows on the frontline!" All of the tanks agreed. This is a typical hunter group. We are assigned to hunt kuishinbos to gather their ashes that is essential in forging weapons. We have three fighters, t
The last thing I felt was like falling from the sky and landed in some weird place. But then again, it was just a dream. Somehow I felt like I regained my consciousness, and I tried to open my eyes. When my eyes are opened, I slightly lifted my head and looked around and noticed that I am lying on a floor in an old building that is pretty wrecked. I tried to stand up and to look around closely, and I noticed that I am somewhere on the top floor of a building. Probably on the seventh or eighth floor of the building, I don't know, I'm not sure. There's nothing unusual except for two things: One is that I really am in the body of myself when I was a teenager, and second is the sound I hear from afar. It's a deafening sound, proving that there are more humans in this world.'I wonder how am I supposed to start?'I started walking around to find a way down. I slowly traversed the messy and dusty surroundings of this abandoned office. Then suddenly I heard a lo
Damon's POV'Arghh! What is this light?'I slowly opened my eyes and looked around.'A hospital? Who brought me here?'I fell asleep when I suddenly remembered the last thing that happened, fuck! There's a monster! Where is that? Where am I? You can't tell me that someone killed that monster. Who could've done that?I moved my body and tried to sit up when I heard a voice from outside.Surprisingly, they are a bit far away, and their voices are not loud either, but every word they say is clear to my ears. Which is kind of weird?"Too hasty Aurken, I just gave you an overview for you to understand, the third type I mentioned, which is being reborn with half of one's original age consume, can also drain one's necro if the necro of a reborn is not enough. So talented reborn of this class is because being able to provide the necessary amount of necro in their reborn state, means they have massive amounts of necro." A voice from a seemingl
I decided to go with what Olivia says. After all, I have no other option. I'm new to this world, and Olivia's offer is to become part of the research guild. It's a perfect opportunity to learn new things.A man in a white lab gown with long hair nods as he checked my paper, "Hmm, you're so smart, Vander."I just smirked in agreement. As part of registration in their guild, they made me answer series of exams, it's kind of an IQ test, and they also tested what will be my response to different real-life situations. I wonder what's next?"Uhmm, is there anything else after this?" I asked."Hmm, there's actually another test, but you have an exception since you perfected the exam and you also have ostensibly no necro inside your body which is necessary for the next test." He replied as he led me to another hallway with many rooms on both sides.'Room 104.'After a while, we stopped in a room."This is your room" He smiled at me. "I
"How did you know I was going here?" I asked Olivia, who is now with me, to the training hall."Duh, I've been in our guild for a few years, of course, you're a rookie, I know where to take you after you passed." She answered while inserting the passcode at the door to enter the hall."Okay." I only asked a simple thing, and she said so much already."What am I going to do here?""Just enter, and you'll soon find out," She said before signalling that she is already leaving.*****~ Training Hall ~A tall, dark-skin toned man wearing some battle suit appeared in front, "You are perhaps, Vander, right?"After Olivia left, I went straight to the training hall. This training hall looks really vastand surrounded by lots of equipment that I do not understand. From the entrance, many people are wandering from here and there doing something. As I continue to walk further, I saw a large portal in the center. However, they ordere

I kept on running and running until I almost entirely ran out of breath. When I realized that I'm somehow far enough, I decided to stop and looked around, realizing that I'm already in the middle of the battlefield. My eyes wandered around all over, and everything seems so realistic,'I wonder what technology they are using?' I asked myself.I looked back, expecting to see the guy with spiky hair behind me. "Argh! Fucking shit!" As soon as I opened my eyes, I noticed a weight pressed half of my body. My vision is still quite blurry, but I know that I'm plunged by a large chunk of metal on the ground. Blood is also drenching around the floor.I tried to lift my head and shouted as hard as I can, "Hey! Is anyone around?" I tried to shout as hard as I can but its all in vain. They may be dead, or they might have fleed already to save their sorry assess. I tried to look up and noticed that it is already noon, we've started to leave the camp in the morning, the attack has been around at ten in the afternoon. I think it's already at five in the noon, and I've been lying here for about seven hours. If this is real, I could've died."We're pretty lucky." A familiar voice emerged out of nowhere; the voice is pretty loud, the man speaking is somewhere near me.Hearing a voice is like seeing a faint light when there's darkness surrounds me. After a few hours of rest inside the camp, a truck came to pick us up, and the captain ordered us to pack our things up and ready ourselves to go. The truck is very large with small windows enough for each person to peek from the inside.A guy beside me inside the truck suddenly leaned close to me and whispered, "You're a pretty amazing guy aren't you?" I gazed upon him and said, "What do you mean?""Well, you're like one of us now, and you even helped Lucia and Kisona defeat those twelve kuishinbo out there." I shook my head off and smirked, "That's nothing, really."He peered his eyes into me, "Are you sure?"I slightly moved away from him, "You're weird.""Oh I'm sorry if I bothered you," He gestured his hands to me and smiled, "My name is Adam." I lent and shook my hands with him and smiled, "Vander.""Where are you from?""I'm from somewhere you can't imagine." He giggled, "What do you mean?""I'm telling you the truth."
H-how? How did he do that, how? I am amazed by what I saw. Vander just pierced a kuishinbo, not just pierced, but he blew them into pieces. The moment he swung his sword, it released a powerful shockwave causing the kuishinbo to explode up to its core. The surrounding was damaged as well. What's more shocking is that he did that unconsciously. Amazingly, how is it possible, a necroless guy swung a lightborn that caused a massive shockwave. He didn't even flinch or experienced a recoil as well."Leon, did you see that?"Leon didn't even bother to answer my question. He just ignored me as he concentrated on the situation."I think I have an idea what just happened, though it's just a theory, it's reasonable," Leon said out of nowhere."What is it?""Hmm, the lightborn that Vander picked is from Regetta, one of the strongest charlander we put in the training.""So?""Lightborn are swords that are designed to detect the necros of i
