"Drusilla!"

Liviana flinched at her husband's raised voice, rushing up the stairs behind him. "Blaze!" She hisses, begging him to slow down and wait - to talk to her.

"You're not the one I want to talk to," he tells, scoffing as he insists that it was Drusilla he needed to have a word with. "And you know what? It's not going to be a very nice one."

"Blaze, please, just wait a second," she pleads. "Let's just talk about this-"

"What's there to talk about?" He asks, spinning around and glaring down at his wife, who comes to a stop a step below. "Your mother has been digging around in my past- my business for... what? Fun? Recon?"

"No-" she tries to deny, shaking her head and assuring her husband it wasn't like that. "She was probably... I'm sure she was just-"

Blaze cuts her off with a laugh of disbelief, turning to continue his way up the staircase. "Unbelievable! You can't even think of a good enough lie to justify it, can you?" He scoffs. "What am I saying? Of course you can't- there

The argument lasted no more than five minutes as the moment Blaze and Liviana had finally caught Drusilla and cornered her, ready to confront her, they were quickly interrupted- ending the confrontation almost as quickly as it began."Mom?" Liviana calls, peeking around the corner into their living room- the last place she expected to find her mother, and yet, there Drusilla sat. "There you are!""Yes," Drusilla huffs, tossing the remote control to the side. "Here I am. Dying of boredom! Did you know you have no good channels on this thing?" She complains. "I can't find one decent movie on this program! It's so disappointing."Liviana sighs, joining her mother in the room. "Mom... we need to talk-""About what?" The woman asks. "The fact that you have all this money, and yet you can't afford to buy some decent cable?""I'm afraid it's much more serious than that, Drusilla," Blaze says, following his wife into the room a moment later.Drusilla, surprised, raises a brow. "Oh... Blaze,"

Merely four days had passed since Liviana's "Castelli training" commenced, and it was safe to say it was much worse than she originally thought. The woman was exhausted. She couldn't believe she had agreed to this, and she began to question her sanity when she was only two lessons deep into this secret plan that her husband and his sister had constructed for her. Liviana wouldn't lie. She began to loathe the two and their scheming and the stress it was putting her body through. And although she believed them, and she knew that she wouldn't see results without putting in the work, she couldn't help but hate the work. She much preferred her life of being a couch potato who occasionally wandered into the kitchen to bake. Life was much more peaceful back then. She tells her husband as much, whining as the two lounges around their bedroom after another hard evenings workout session - because "to fight is to be fit", And Liviana, as healthy as she was, wasn't very fit. She was far from it

The question plagued Liviana's mind, and it didn't take long for the fear and worry to join it.She couldn't stop thinking about it. Why would Emilia run away when it seems as though she already had everything worked out? She had a plan, and Emilia had always been strict with her practicality. What would be grave enough to have her abandoned it all completely? What could possibly be so bad that it would make Emilia abandon her family? Her siblings? Liviana didn't understand. It was all so sudden, and yet, that night, she never thought to question it.Liviana cursed herself for being so thoughtless, though she couldn't hold herself at fault entirely. Back then, she had no reason to question her sister - who had mentioned running away more times than she could remember during their youth. In all honesty, Livi believed it was only a matter of time before Emilia snapped and finally went through with it. And though she missed her sister dearly, she could never blame or resent Emilia for he

It was as if the moment the words left her mouth, the world around them changed. Life was different. Liviana couldn't explain how, as it was a mere feeling- a pang in her heart every so often as she becomes painfully aware of her situation. The realization hit like a truck when the thought first crossed her mind. She didn't want to believe it, but there was a nagging feeling in her gut that told her something was wrong, and she needed to look deeper. It was over the course of a week, after days of trying to ignore that unsettling feeling stirring inside her, that Liviana's demeanor began to crack and the thoughts she had tried so hard to ignore became all she could think about. They consumed her, and soon, they were the only thing on her mind. She should have known it would have come spilling out of her sooner or later- she never had been good at secrets of her own.Liviana hoped that telling Blaze would help. She wasn't sure how as there was nothing he could do- he was a mere listene

"I hate them!"A young Liviana startled in her seat when, out of nowhere, her bedroom door is thrown open and Emilia storms into her room with the complaint. "I hate it here," the older sister pouted, kicking the door shut behind her before collapsing onto her sister's satin sheets, climbing into the bed with her to vent. "I can't wait to grow up and leave. I need to get out of here!"Livi frowns, reaching over to gently pat Emilia's back, watching as she takes a moment to bury her face in a pillow and scream. She couldn't help but chuckle as she observed the action, asking the dreadful question only after her sister quieted. "What did they do now?"Emilia pushes herself up, propping herself up on her elbows to face her sister, who frowns at the sight of tears glistening in Emilia's eyes. "They lied," she says. "Again."Head tilting in her confusion, Liviana asks, "what?" She questions softly. "What did they lie about?""The car," Emilia answers, watching as her sister grows all the

"Are you sure about this?" Liviana asked, sparing a paranoid glance over her shoulder in worry. She couldn't believe they were doing this."Yep," Emilia nods, marching through their parents' garage with a determination Livi had never seen in her sister until now. And in all honesty, the look in her eyes scared Liviana, and she couldn't help but disagree."I don't know about this," she says, slowing to a stop and looking back at the elevator they had come from, scared of who could follow. "I think we should just go back-""Livi!" Emilia throws her head back with a groan. "Come on, it's fine! Just come look before you leave-""But what if-""What if we live a little?" Emilia cuts her sister off, spinning on her heels to face her sister with the question. "What if we do this and it's the best night of our lives?"Liviana frowns, arms crossing over her chest as she ponders the thought. Would one night be worth it? "What if it's not?""But what if it is?" Emilia stresses. "We'll never know

Blaze could practically feel his heart tie itself into a knot in his chest at the sound of another distraction. Would he ever get the timing right? He sighs at the thought, turning around to greet the man, whose voice he recognizes immediately."Bryce," he greets, pushing out of his chair and offering the man his hand to shake. "There you are! We were beginning to think you got lost.""What can I say? I run on my own time." Bryce shrugs it off, giving Blaze's hand a shake before he rounds the table to take the seat across from the 'happy couple.'"That would have been something to mention days ago when we arranged this meeting," Blaze points, and the detective rolls his eyes. "I specifically asked for a time that suited you-""I'm here, aren't I?"Blaze only hums, narrowing his eyes at his 'old friend', and Liviana coughs."Uh- Blaze," she murmurs, reaching to take his hand in hers and giving it a gentle tug with a silent demand- if not a gentle ask for him to sit. A younger Liviana wrung her hands together as she climbed the stairs, following her mother's bellows all the way to her bedroom door. "Liviana?!"She flinches at the screech of her name, taking a step back to compose herself. "Breathe," she reminds herself, stilling for that of second before she's startled by another shout of her name. "Shit," she curses, rounding the corner into her mother's bedroom and asking, "yes, mom?""Finally!" Drusilla throws her arms up. "Where in God's name have you been?" She demands, asking what had taken her so long. "Didn't you hear me calling?""I'm sorry, mom," Liviana apologizes. "I was outside with-""I don't care to hear your excuses, young lady!" Drusilla scoffs, scolding the girl for her lack of responsibility. "What if I was hurt, hmm?" She questions. "What if I was in danger? Or worse, dying? What would you have to say for yourself then, huh?""I'm sorry-"Drusilla scoffs once again. "Your apologies mean nothing to me, Liviana. Do better!" She

Before she knew it, and much faster than either cared to acknowledge, two hours had flown by and the two were soon forced to sit and face the intimidating discussion that, in all honesty, they couldn’t have dreaded more.Their morning had come to an end and there was no more running from it, no more avoiding their responsibility. They had matters to attend to, people to see and to discuss - people to punish. In order to place blame and punish anyone, there was a conversation to be had, precautions they needed to take. And so, for better or for worse, Liviana and Blaze sat down and got to work.At least, they tried to. But it turned out to be something much easier said than done, and even Blaze found himself struggling to strike up the conversation. The two sat quietly, the surrounding air packed with the tension of all those things that have gone unsaid. Questions, answers, accusations, and everything in between.Yet, despite the lingering words lost between them, neither could seem t

The night that started off as slow was anything but the moment her emotions started to roll. What started off as questionary, awkward, soon turned into something worse, something vulnerable. And that was her undoing.Livi hated it. Hated the feeling, the way it all unraveled, how she let it. She hated it so much that she began to feel as though she preferred the tension to the sensitivity, almost wanting to cling to it like some sort of shield, as if that could protect her from what was coming, what needed to be said, done.Of course, it couldn't. It all came crumpling down before she had so much as a chance to harvest it, use it. And then, just like that, she found herself back in his arms, the one place she shouldn't be, exactly where she didn't deserve to be.Being held by him was a luxury she almost couldn't afford. The safety he offered her, the comfort and the understanding, the pure kindness that came with the action of being wrapped up in his essence, was nearly too much. Much

One night. It was a deal Liviana made with herself, intending to enjoy the last bit of her husbands whiskey before climbing into the bed she prayed she would never have to leave - the outside world was just too dreadful and she couldn't handle the thought of having to face it again. So, for as long as she was allowed to, she was going to avoid it. She was going to crawl into bed and hide under the covers, and wait for the moment she could retreat into the world of her dreams.Fortunately, that moment was forced to wait when her husband decided to join her. He had strutted into the room with that sour question, "are you okay?" And in all honesty, she wasn't. She knew it, and he knew it too. He knew because he was just as exhausted as she was, just as miserable. And nothing sounded better than to drown in it with her by his side, washing down the bitter taste with a glass of whiskey and letting the sound of her voice drown out his woes. It was the perfect ending to a perfectly awful day

"You owe me."The words ring loudly in her head like some kind of siren, a warning and a reminder of her worst mistakes. And it was all because of one stupid party.Little Livi's heart drops and she's leaping toward her sister once again at the feeling, latching onto the older girl who offers a sense of safety despite her earlier harshness.Emilia is quick to return the sentiment, her free hand coming to rest over Liviana's that holds tightly onto her arm. She pulls her closer, the two taking a swift step back as she does so."Oh, my God- Dad!" Emilia gasps, wide eyes locking onto her dad's dark ones. She could already see it in there. The way the cogs spun in his brain, the anger that lurked beneath the green, something that she was sure was doing nothing more than fueling on some ridiculous plan, some way to spin this in his favor.Of course, she was right."What's going on here?" The sound of the alarm blared loudly through the home, the sisters practically jumping out of their skin at the sound."The hell is that?" Liviana complains, hand moving to grip at her at the side of her head, where the throbbing only gets worse. The noise wasn't helping her haze at all."I don't know," Emilia murmurs, head twisting and turning in an attempt to catch the cause of the sound. She couldn't see anything out of place or hear a sound aside from the ringing of the security system echoing through the deserted halls."Whatever it is, make it stop!"The sound of her sister's whines has Emilia huffing, rolling her eyes at the show of her mess of priorities. "No," she replies simply, watching as the girl's face twists in confusion at the response."Why not?!" The pout resting on her lips was almost priceless, looking like a little kid who had just been told that they couldn't have their way. "It's loud, and- and it hurts! And worse? It's annoying!""It is." Emilia doesn't disagre

Creeping in through the window was a task that she could hardly handle sober, but after all those drinks she downed, she couldn't do it with her best effort."Livi- Livi!" Emilia whisper-shouts, hauling the girl up from the floor when she takes a tumble through the frame, nearly landing on her face from such a fall. "Hey, are you okay?"For a second, she's quiet, not speaking a word as her sister drags her to her feet, only huffing and puffing as she goes. Then, finally, she nods. "Yeah," she breathes, and all Emilia can do is frown. She wasn't convinced."Are you sure?" She asks, concern written across her face as she reaches out to touch her sister's, gently pushing the dark hair out of her eyes to get a better look at her. "You hit the ground pretty hard-""Fine- it's fine," she says, brushing it off with a small laugh. "I'm fine!"From behind her, Tino scoffs. "You don't sound fine." And Blaze Castelli would accept nothing but the best for himself and his wife. They deserved a nice place to call their home, and he made sure that that's exactly what they got. She could see the irritation flash across his face at the reminder, and she has to refrain from sighing as she switches from what seemed to be a sensitive topic.
