An instant smile spread across my face as I looked adoringly at Leo. In the three days since he’s been here, the night wolves have really taken a liking to him, but I could clearly see why. After our first night back together, me and Leo had woken up early to go hunting and he personally cooked the meat and sat around the fire with the night wolves and could see just how intimidated and sceptical they were of him, especially because they could sense his alpha blood, but instead of just ignoring them, or probing them with a million questions, he just sat there telling us all stories that his father used to tell him. He also told them about the times he used to train on Blue mountain and felt him and his father weren’t alone. The night wolves instantly became intrigued by that story and started to remember seeing a young teenage boy running and playing with his father, and they began to warm to him. Since that first morning, he has purposefully made time to get to know them, he’s helped

I led on the cool grass, calmly breathing the gentle breeze as I stared at the clear blue sky thinking about the fact that it had been tow weeks and three days since I put more focus onto Jocelyn and Frida but there was still no shifting from either of them. After our many attempts every single day, I’d take them somewhere quiet to relax, we’d all constantly shift and train in front of them, we’d encourage and optimistically tell them that they’d soon get it, but every time they closed their eyes and focused, it was as if they’d suddenly get stage fright or something, and the more they failed, the more they lost belief in themselves. I could personally understand a whole lot about not having that own self assurance and confidence in the abilities and strengths you can possess in just one claw. They both reminded me of myself and how I once was, and it made me count my blessings for how far I’d come and how different I was now. Once the wolfless pack girl, feeling like she had to hang

“You did well on your hunt today”. I complimented Patrick, Brandon and Gordon as we put away the leftovers from dinner. Today was their first time to hunt together without me supervising and they had come back with a deer and three rabbits. But with the guards, mother and grams leaving five days ago, there wasn’t so many of us to feed, so we had a lot of meat left over for the following mornings.“It felt so good to finally let our wolves hunt. Just to be out there enjoying the chase again”. Patrick commented looking pleased with himself.“Yes, we want to hunt for tomorrows dinner too. In fact, I think we’re going to want to do it every day!” Brandon chuckled as he put out the fire. “Our wolves picked up the scent so quickly, and we pounced on them before they got away. It was….”“Exciting?” I chimed, seeing the thrilling spark in his eyes.“Yes, exactly! And with all the training we’ve been doing too, my wolf has really been stretching it’s legs… it feels exhilarating”. “Well then,

Only a few days after my father’s surprising visit we were quickly faced with yet another problem… Luckily it was nothing me, Leo, Izzy and Dante couldn’t handle together, although at times we would pass each other the occasional doubtful glance. Our new problem started when all of the camp mates returned one afternoon, completely taking us by surprise and leaving us unprepared. The night wolves immediately looked threatened, their trust and belief in us flashed before their eyes as they grouped together, backing into a corner, ready to attack. Their eyes kept darting back and forth to me and the camps mates, confused and alarmed frowns, looking at me as if they were wondering why I wasn’t charging to protect them. Our camp mates looked just as caught off guards as the night wolves, both groups were startled and uneasy, me and Leo had to quickly whisk the night wolves away, just outside the camp to calm them and explain why so many people had suddenly turned up in their sanctuary. It was almost midnight by the time the half built wall came into our view, it was only three foot high and was far from surrounding the entire outskirts of our land. We cautiously walked through the small gap of the wall, where eventually two gates will stand, as the patrol guards gave respectful nods to Leo, commenting that it was good to have him back.I glanced along the top of the hill to our right where my house stood, and I could see dim lights glowing from the windows. My heart warmed as I smiled, to know that, for the first time since that nightmarish battle and the death of my uncle, it would be the first time that me, my mother, father and grams would be together again. I then looked to our left toward the footpath the wound through the wooded area just before the lake, and I told myself, that tomorrow, I would visit uncle’s resting place, but I still longed to have him here with us, so that he could see for himself….we did it!Leo held my hand tighter as we reached the entr

For once in the last year things felt slightly normal when me and Leo had spent the morning eating our breakfast and casually talking and laughing with father, mother and grams. We didn’t discuss Zach, Violet or any of the horrible things that had happened since we’d all been torn away from each other time after time. Instead we spoke of how relieved and happy everyone was now that they were back on their homeland, Grams told us that she spends parts of her days helping to patrol and how much she has become to enjoy it and her plans to visit Lundberg the following week to see some old friends and Wayne. We told mother and Grams how well the night wolves were doing and their decision to stay at the camp and call it their home, and our plans to visit them. Father told us that Caleb had finally been able to re-open the rest of our land after it being closed off for an entire year, and both me and Leo passed each other a playful glance, sharing the same thought of going back to the lake j

*Warning, chapter contains use of graphic violence*Me and Leo barely slept a wink last night as we thought over the fact that we had managed to convince Caleb to give us what we wanted, although, it was more Leo that did the convincing. When he had marched us into Caleb’s office, Leo was determined not to take no for an answer, regardless of Caleb insisting he needed more time to think it over.Leo almost flew into a rage, demanding Zach be dealt a brutal penalty for his crimes, and that technically if Zach hadn’t have run away when we escaped, we would have killed him ourselves anyway, or kept him as our prisoner ready for the night wolves to take as their own. The whole time Leo argued with his father, I stood there in shock and pride to see how much he had changed when it came to his parents. Back when we first came back into each other’s lives, as much as he tried to help and defend me, he was always still quite reserved when it came to standing his ground and his choices, but ye

I inhaled a long relaxed breath as my head rested on Leo’s chest, with my eyes closed I gratefully basked under the hot sun. We’d been coming here every evening for the last week since we took Zach to his death, just to remind ourselves why we bestowed him such a vicious death. It was for this… for everything we were so close to never experiencing again. Of course, the night he died, it did plague me, Leo, Izzy and Dante at first, we had barely spoken a word to each other when we walked away. We felt a slight sense of guilt, almost convincing ourselves that we must be monsters to allow him to die such a painful death, but when me and Leo woke up the next morning safely in each other’s arms and no longer a black cloud over our heads, we actually felt relief. We felt safe, calm and ready to move on with our lives, leaving the pain of what happened behind us, including the ones who caused it.Caleb had announced to the entire pack the following day after Zach’s death that they no longer

One week later:It was surprising and interesting to see how quickly everyone including myself and Leo were trying to readjust to pack life. Both of my parents had resumed their responsibilities almost the moment they set foot back into Whitlock, and the usual hustle and bustle of the village paths began every morning and evening just as it used to, and sometimes I’d look out my bedroom window and watch them all pass by. They’d causally greet each other, wave and smile and I’d sometimes feel this strange notion in my stomach from how normal and unaffected everything seemed to be, as if the last year never happened.Even though a wall was still being built right in front of their eyes, no one seemed to take any notice of it, or even of the shambled trees along the border that had been snapped and ripped apart during the battle. Of course, it was only natural that everyone wanted to get on with their lives, especially now that we all felt a lot safer and had finally destroyed our enemie

“I have something for you all”. I grinned mysteriously at the women. We had just finished another training session, which I had kept up with for the last six weeks of becoming Luna to reassure them that my dedication to them wouldn’t change.“You have something… what?” Abigail asked curiously as they all grouped together in front of me.I walked over to my bag that I always stuffed a towel and change of shirt into, but today I had something else… something I knew they had been wanting since we first started our sessions.I took out the document and held it out for them to see. Their eyes all wandered along it, but I could see the puzzlement in their faces.“What is it?” Clarissa questioned as they all looked at me.“Its what you all wanted”. I smiled. “As Luna, I gave the proposal to your new alpha, and…. “ I paused to build up their anticipation. “And your alpha, was more than happy to sign it off. So, from now on, any female of Whitlock that does the appropriate training can become

“Wow look at our little girl”. Mother cooed as she and my father beamed at me in my wedding dress. “Soon to be a Luna”. She sniffled as father subtly wiped a tear that was about to escape his eye.“She’s not so little now, is she?” Father commented as he let out a heavy bittersweet exhale. “Our little girl… going to be the Luna”. He said as he shook his head trying to accept how much had changed. “You have come so far, my girl, all on your own strength”. “She really has, hasn’t she”. Mother agreed with a watery smile as I grinned bashfully at them, swaying my dress side to side, listening to the sound of the material swooshing. On the surface I looked confident and excited, but in reality my hands were sweating and so were my legs. I couldn’t wait to marry Leo, but every member of our pack were going to be at the ceremony today and to celebrate with us afterward. Having all of that kind of attention and eyes on me was something I still wasn’t used to, and in a way, I kind of missed t

I stepped out of the bathroom with a towel secured around my chest as I dried my hair with another. I inwardly smiled as through the balcony glass doors, I could see the sun was beginning to set, so I walked out to the edge and rested my arms on the balcony wall looking out at Whitlock. Apart from a few children running and laughing on their way home from the lake, it all felt so warm, peaceful and safe. I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath, savouring the cool spring air and my heart thumped cheerfully at how happy I was to finally be back home.I had arrived back late last night, and the first thing I did as rush to Leo’s room and woke him up with a kiss on his cheek, and the moment he opened his eyes, he wrapped his arms around me, pulled me onto the bed and frantically tore each other’s clothes off from the yearning arousal we had the moment we were back in each other’s arms. The next morning, I surprised my parents for breakfast and told them all about how Clemonte was comin

Nine weeks had come and gone… Nine weeks I had once again been away from home, and I was missing it more and more each day. Me and Leo had been able to speak twice a week on the phone, and I knew by his voice he was feeling the same as I was about us being apart for so long. But with his own duties, his training and taking over my classes with the she-wolves, there was just no time for him to visit.I had many conversations with Caleb and Wayne, and it was decided that Jonah would come to Clemonte with Wayne’s sister, Diana and her mate Corbin in just another weeks time. According to Wayne, most of Corbin’s family had since moved on to other packs and they had already been contemplating a new chapter in their lives, so it didn’t take as much persuasion as Wayne had thought. Jonah would help them for six months to settle in and learn their new roles as alpha and Luna to Clemonte, and with a son and daughter of their own, if they chose to mate with one of Clemonte’s members, that would

For the following week, me and my night wolves had taken over the rule of Clemonte. When Robert had killed James and we locked up his people, I spoke to both Caleb and Wayne about what had happened, and I was surprised by how relieved they sounded of his demise. But with no heirs, they had both asked that we begin to lead Clemonte back into shape until they could find someone to be its next ruler. We had no intentions of being cruel to them, neglect them or bully them whilst we were here, but from the way James and his pack house lived, there were clearly no strict rules, authority or structure. James always lived behind his wall that surrounded the pack house with his guards, their wives and whatever women they had become fond of and made the cut to living within his home.It baffled us at how little the rest of his people ever saw him or had protection from him or his guards. Every day, we let his people come out three times a day for fresh air, food and water, but we always kept th

We stormed all the way through the forest, until our tongues were hanging out of our mouths, and we were panting for breath. Luckily for our breed, the desire to protect and hunt down anyone targeting our own was stronger than the ache in our legs and the hunger in our stomach’s.As soon as we had Clemonte in sight, it gave us even more of a push to run faster. We sped along, growling deep in our chests as we stormed through his broken fence and across the field. Foolish James thought his mere wall would stop any intrusions but together as a pack we all rushed to it as a unit and smashed our bodies into it, smashing it to the floor, causing everyone outside of the pack house to scream and shout in alarm. We quickly rolled back onto our feet and began chasing all the men and women as they tried to flee or shift into their wolves. We’d grab them in our mouths, piercing their skin with our teeth, enough to cause them pain and submission but not to kill, and knocking them off their feet a

One month later:“Another successful session everyone!” I chimed to all the women as they wiped the sweat from their foreheads and walked toward me, panting with breaths.“Are we always going to be able to train? Because I don’t think I can go back to how things were before”. Clarissa asked as the other women nodded in agreement.“Of course. We’ll continue our sessions for as long as you all want to”. I responded, noticing the hopefulness in their eyes.“Oh, good, cause I haven’t had this much fun in a long time, and now I feel like I’m… I’m”. “Powerful?” Laura finished her sentence as Clarissa tried to find the right word.“Yes! Yes, that’s it”. She exclaimed. “I feel like I don’t have to be so scared now if any threat comes to our border again”. “Yea, me too”. All the other women agreed in unison“That’s amazing! That’s exactly why we’re doing these classes, it’s what I want you all to feel”. I smiled, seeing the passion in their eagerness to train.“But is there more?” Jodie quiz

You really think they could handle training alongside men?” Caleb asked with a doubtful frown as I filled out the progress of each she-wolf on their training forms.“Yes, I do”. I answered adamantly as I glanced up from the paperwork, but his frown didn’t shift.“But they’ve only been training for three weeks”. “Yes, but you should see them! They’re so determined to improve. They bring their A – game to every session. They’re honestly so skilled already”. “I don’t know”. Caleb sighed as he signed off the schedule sheets for the patrol shifts.I slumped my shoulders in annoyance that he wouldn’t even attend one session to see just how incredible the women of our pack were. For once they were given the opportunity to show their capability, and I was the first to say how impressed I was. “Could you at least consider it? Just think of all the new opportunities it would open up for them. They could help patrol the borders or become palace guards! They’d be so good at it, and I can see ho

I dragged him through the dirt, along the sharp stones, branches and thorns as he winged as my teeth still dug into his flesh and begged for me to let him go, but I knew a man like James and his pack needed a strong enough warning so that me and the other night wolves could be free to roam. The rest of the men all whimpered and didn’t try to retaliate as we led them all back to their land. We finally reached the border at first light as the ground beneath us now lay frosty and the grass was damp but the forest around us smelt fresh and earthly rich.We stopped at their dilapidated fence, and I glanced back at the night wolves to make some noise and they all howled together to alert Clemonte of our arrival. Moments later, James and a gathering of his men came out from his pack house walls and stopped at the top of the field, looking at us with apprehension. I dropped the man from my mouth and growled and he didn’t hesitate to try and scramble to his feet as he clutched his shoulder. He
