Chapter 6 : Lie and Master

“The deal is closed.” It’s not a question but a statement, indicating there is no reason for him to go. Still, Levi didn’t back off rather replied, “Yes, Master. But I had to collect my reward I won yesterday from the gambling.”

He knew it’s a lame excuse but that’s the only one his mind could make up in such a short notice. Shit! He should’ve come prepared about what to say beforehand but then he didn’t plan to ask Master directly. He should blame his impulsiveness.

He waited for the Master to say something or anything but again only silence greeted him. In his nervousness to make his reason sound more reasonable, he told series of lies which just popped up in his head.

“Yesterday, I met someone in the club who are in urgent need of money and I promised to help them thus I gambled but because of our limited time I couldn’t collect the money. So, I had to meet him today, it’s an emergency. Please, let me go, Master.”

The window was rolled up and the engine roared to life as the car drove off. Then Levi stood straight while realising that, Master neither agreed nor denied his request. He just went without giving a reply.

Milo who was waved by Master before driving off, signalling him to deal with Levi came forward to question him about the person he mentioned. Levi told him about Neil then Milo contacted the bar manager to enquire.

Master never allows the clan people to use their personal mobiles for trust issues. Only few people were assigned to carry mobiles for communication and enquiries. Even all those mobiles were tapped by Master, He knows everything they do with them.

When Milo learnt about the fight happened in the bar last night, he pulled Levi by collar, threatening him to speak truth. Levi gritted his teeth to maintain his composure and explained calmly that it was just a misunderstanding and he wants to apologize for his actions by offering them the money they needed.

Levi thanked the bar manager in his mind for not selling out the details of the fight, if he did Milo would’ve killed him right away.

“You should not lie to master, Levi.” With each word, Milo’s grip on Levi tightened and when he said the words, ‘Lie’ and ‘Master’ he strangled Levi until he couldn’t inhale properly, to prove the point. He then released his grip, letting Levi take deep breaths and shoved him aside.

Not only Master but his third-in-command was also too hard to talk and to deal with. Of course, what he uttered earlier were lies-thankfully, Milo sensed only one- because he knew it will be his last day on earth if he said that he had a fight with the civilians. And, Master will be the one to kill him.

“I’m sorry.” Levi apologized still catching his breath, kneeling on the ground but Milo ignored what he said rather warned him to return in less than five hours before sending a word to the guards to open gates for Levi. It takes almost two hours to reach Kandon so Levi only had at most an hour to deal with that bitch. He asked for two hours but Milo gave him only an hour. He shouldn’t protest but feel lucky to even get agreed for his request.

“Levi, my men will monitor all your actions remember.” Milo spoke to Levi who was walking away to his car, halting his steps.

“I know.” Even though his reply was docile, his eyes were anything but.

“Why did you even gamble in the first place? You were sent to the club to close a deal.”

Milo questioned him, just when Levi thought all this charade came to an end. The words, ‘you indulged yourself with other pleasures when the given task should be your first priority’ rang high in the air even though those were never spoken. What he did was a grave mistake. Definitely.

Except when ordered, they were not allowed to go out of the fort. If they wanted to have fun and relax, they have bar and casino build inside the fort and if they wanted to have sex then Dylan will personally send them out. The manager dealing with prostitutes have direct contact with Dylan and relays all the information and thus nobody can misuse the excuse for their own benefit.

Levi managed to swallow his fear and answered with fake sincerity, facing Milo.

“As I said earlier, the man named Neil needed money and when he tried to involve police because of that misunderstanding. I negotiated to solve the matter with compensation as I don’t want to trouble our clan with such trivial matters. To end it as soon as possible, I had to gamble for that money but at the end I couldn’t collect my reward and hand it over to Neil as our time is limited and we had to return soon. But before leaving I promised Neil to settle our feud today.”

Milo didn’t question Levi any further because everyone in the clan knew of the consequences for misusing their power. Death will be less painful than the punishments issued by Master. Levi bowed to Milo, turned around and hopped in before driving off.

………..

“Here’s your pastry.”

Thiago placed the piece of vanilla cake on the table in front of Fiona before taking his seat. They all met again after two days at a café when Gwen texted in their group chat, asking them to meet here as she has a news to share.

“I decided to join business school.” Gwen spoke casually, munching on her burger like her friends were not looking at her as though a pair of horns were grown on her head.

“What the fuck? We are art students, Gwen.”

Darla spit out what others were also itching to ask. Business School? Seriously?

“So what? My parents want me to take over their business in the future. Then I better take Business Management for college.”

Neil was silent because he knew about her choice though he too was shocked initially, he supports her decision. That’s her life and as a good boyfriend, he needs to accept that.

“But…”

Fiona was about to question but Gwen cut her off, dropping the half-eaten burger on the plate and pulled out a tissue from the wooden box placed on the table, wiping her mouth while declaring her decision confidently.

“They didn’t force me. I wanted to be like my parents. In fact, I love what they do so I willingly accepted their offer.”

Darla and Fiona rolled their eyes. It’s her career and if she is so determined on her commitment to business then there is no need to judge her or try to change her mind.

“What about you, Thiago?” Sensing the tension in the air, Neil in an attempt to save the situation, directed the attention to Thiago who was busy with his phone as always.

“I sent my application to few art colleges. Waiting for their call.” He answered even without lifting his head from the screen.

Then Neil spoke about his interest in handicrafts. He wants to pursue bachelor’s in Art and Craft and also applied for the same too. Everyone already knew about his passion in crafts but liked his daring and unique idea to develop a career in the said field.

“I also applied for a few art colleges but guys I badly wants to study here, in Kandon art and science university. That’s the only Uni I had my eyes on.” Darla said and then turned towards Fiona, gestured her to speak too.

“I…” As Fiona was about to talk, a waiter rushed to their table to inform Neil about a car accident. They all instantly stood up from their seats and followed the waiter suit, to see what was actually happening. Darla gasped spotting Levi who just closed his car door and went to stand beside Neil’s, with his half smoked cigarette.

“What the hell man?”

Neil checked his car, while shouting at Levi angrily. The windscreen of the car broke due to the clash and glass pieces were spread all over the leather seats and some on the hood too. The bumper of the car detached as result of the force of impact.

Levi leisurely dropped his cigarette butt and stuffed it under his boot and held Neil’s collar who is still examining his car.

“Didn’t you say you’re protecting me from that bitch? Now you see, you can’t even protect your damn car.” He said smirking and pushed Neil aside. Levi made it look like an accident to the onlookers by pretending to lost control over his accelerator and couldn’t hit break on time to stop clashing Neil’s car so that he can lie to Milo if this incident reaches him.

How dare this brat to insult him? Now he will realise what he is capable of. He should feel lucky that it’s his car he broke not his head.

Before leaving the bar on that day, Levi told a waiter whom he trust to spy on Neil. He can’t ask Manager as he was obviously loyal to Master and spills everything to Dylan. The waiter asked for a couple of days to gather the information. Since he didn’t have the privilege to use mobile as his Master allowed only a few of his henchmen to have it, he first drove to the club and learnt Neil’s address along with his car number and a few other details of his college and family.

As he was driving to the given address, to his utter luck he found a car with the same number he was given a few minutes ago, parked outside a café.

He risked being punished by his Master and even got threatened by Milo so he better make his visit worth all the sweat he shed and the tension he took.

Fiona who stood aside watching the whole drama, pulled the band from her wrist and tied her hair into a ponytail. She wore a baggy red t-shirt paired with blue denims and white shoes. Her luscious lips matches the colour of her t-shirt, painted with same red. The blush applied on her cheeks and nose were minimal, giving off natural look and mascara made her eyes stand out beautifully with thick and long lashes.

She loves how makeup pushes her confidence to next level and makes her feel more gorgeous. On the day of party, she unfortunately couldn’t get ready much as she was late already but she’s a makeup girlie all the time. As a painter she was also talented in blending her blushes and contours to look more radiant and carve her appearance just how she does in her paintings.

After fixing her hair in place, Fiona walked towards Levi who was still grinding his foot on the ground, killing the already dead cigarette butt, too stunned to notice his action by the beauty in front of him. Fiona used this moment of distraction to swing her leg and directed it at Levi's abdomen. He was late but not quite late enough to take the full blow of the kick rather received a tiny hit not sufficient to hurt him.

He instantly charged at her, swinging both his fists, one directed to her face and another to her stomach but Fiona was quick enough to bend backwards, escaping them easily. Furious, Levi started throwing his fists randomly want to hurt Fiona anyhow but his frustration and lack of strategy gave Fiona an upper hand.

She aimed at his legs, driving her fist to his right knee giving it all her strength, bending a little and quickly knocked the same leg with her right one, straightening. Levi groaned in pain, kneeling the hurt leg to the ground but Fiona didn’t give him a chance to dwell in the same pain rather went behind his back and kicked his spine with her right knee, sending him to the ground and constricted both of his hands behind his back, completely at the mercy of her.

Fiona warned her friends to stay put and twisted Levi’s hand not caring about his groans of pain. The onlookers were shocked to see a petite teenage girl who is hitting a man more stronger than her, he was easily subdued by the girl.

“Son of a…! Are you happy now? Did you like your place now?” Fiona asked, twisting his hand, inducing more pain into his system as she proceed to sit on his back, robbing his chance to get up.

“Let go of me, bitch. Do you know who I am? I work for….”

Levi spoke while gritting his teeth to endure the pain and started to wince in pain as Fiona pressed her leg into his spine. He never believed when they said she’s good at fighting. Looking at her fragile body he thought Neil was just blabbering but she hit him really hard. He’ll never let this matter slide.

He wanted to just scare her so he didn’t use much strength but later on the pathetic comments and looks directed at him from the people gathered around got to him really fast and that bitch caught him off guard at that time with her skills. Before he can realize her technique, she made him lie flat on the ground in front of so many people.

Her friends stood aside stifling laughs and feeling proud for their girl while Neil have an I-told-you-so look on his face. He should’ve taken his words seriously. No problem, now he got it though, in the hard way. He deserves it.

Just then Neil came forward, “Fio…” but couldn’t speak as he stood rooted beside them, inhaling sharply with eyes wide open. He saw something on Levi’s wrist. A tattoo.

“Fiona! Let him go.” Recovering quickly, he called on to Fiona who was still clutching Levi’s hand at his back.

“Get back, Neil. He should know his limits. Let me teach him…..”

Fiona was about to deliver another punch but Neil held her wrist and pulled her up, behind him.

“He’s from BlackWolf clan. Look at the tattoo on his wrist.”

Everyone stepped back on hearing Neil’s words even before they could confirm his words. Just like he said, a Black Wolf symbol was adorned on the inner side of his left wrist. People all over the country knew what that symbol represents - The mafia clan ruling Cylantra for the past seven years after Golden Eagle clan.
