Janet hid her face in her hand while pulling her knees toward her chest.

Her mind was a mess, and she felt so horrible she started to howl like a child.

She felt so helpless, so alone she didn’t know what to do.

They were treating her like this because of Edwin, but she helplessly sat inside Edwin’s house, in his bed.

Didn’t what they said was true? She was Edwin’s mistress.

“Janet, don’t cry like this.” Edwin was out of ideas about how to comfort her when she was pushing him away.

But he couldn’t tolerate how she was crying, he felt pained, and though it was wise to stay put, he moved toward Janet.

“Janet, listen to me once!” Edwin moved forward to console her, but feeling his touch Janet again moved away.

“Don’t touch me. I am not your whore,” Janet said and her words were like the biggest slap on his face.

“Janet,” Edwin said in disbelief.
