Chapter-05

A sleek black Rolls-Royce entered the Wilson Residence and Edwin got down from it with his cold demeanor.

Who would have thought this man was the same person who grew up in this villa and used to play like a normal kid, full of joy and mischief?

Lara Wilson, Edwin’s grandma, often misses that boy who used to run around her and laugh all the time. But it changed when she lost his son and Daughter-in-law in a car crash.

Edwin was sixteen at that time. They were returning from a business trip and they never thought they would get their body instead.

Edwin grew up in a day, he took every responsibility on his shoulder and took over the Wilson group in his father’s place.

Edward, Edwin’s grandpa, never wanted his grandchildren to lose their childhood.

But he had already retired and it wasn’t easy for him to take over the business after such a long time.

But he didn’t stop Edwin, either.

It’s been ten years and Edwin never disappointed him after that.

Wilson Group has only seen success.

The only thing they lost was that carefree Edwin, who was the apple of their eyes.

Edwin still cared for them, but it wasn’t out of love, more than gratitude.

“Hey, Bro. Why are you so late? Granny didn’t let me eat because of you.” Elisa, Edwin’s sister, jumped on him when he entered the villa.

“Ell,” Edwin groaned, as she never acted like a lady. She was already a grown-up 22-year-old girl. But she still acted like a teenager.

“Don’t,” Elisa already warned him before he could start his scolding.

“If you promise not to scold me, I will tip you.” Elisa raised her finger and moved back from Edwin.

“What?” Edwin rubbed his forehead and asked in a bored tone.

“Someone was waiting for you inside, but stay away from her, She is not someone I want as my Sister-in-law. Too overbearing.” Elisa sighed with disdain.

Edwin understood why his grandma was so eager to invite him, it was not a family dinner but a blind date.

“Don’t worry.” Edwin flicked her head and walked inside, leaving a groaning Elisa behind.

“You promised,” Elisa complained while rubbing her forehead.

“I didn’t,” Edwin said without turning around and walking inside.

Elisa also followed him with a sad face.

When Edwin reached the living room, his grandparents were sitting there and enjoying their tea.

Roman, the butler of Wilson’s, was serving them tea. And Edwin found out about the new guest.

A young girl, sitting there and talking with his grandparents.

She was wearing a bright red dress, which could make anyone blind, and Edwin was annoyed without even looking at her face.

Though the dress came from a top brand, it also projected someone’s poor taste.

Who would wear such bright colors for a family dinner?

“Edwin.” Lara got up happily and walked toward Edwin, noticing him standing there.

“Grams, Grandpa.” Edwin greeted and when his grandma took his arm and dragged him toward the sofa, he reluctantly sat facing that girl.

The girl was good-looking, but Edwin didn’t know why he only felt reluctant toward her.

“Meet Chesley White. The elder daughter of the Whites.” Lara introduced.

“Hi.” Chesley didn’t waste time greeting him and forwarded her hand.

But Edwin wasn’t in the mood to touch her.

“Hi.” He greeted her coldly, not moving an inch from his place.

Though it offended Chesley, she maintained her fake smile.

“You may have seen each other at office parties. I didn’t know White has a daughter close to your age. When I heard about her at the kitty party, I couldn’t stop myself from inviting her.” Lara said, smiling.

Edwin knew his grandmother was hinting at him why she invited Chesley, but Edwin looked uninterested as always.

“Can we have dinner?” Elisa stopped Lara from talking further as she knew her grandma would say something that would force Edwin to talk with Chelsey.

Moreover, Elisa was super hungry.

But she was smiling inside, thinking Edwin had taken her advice and he behaved indifferently with Elisa.

Edwin got up and walked toward the dining room even without considering her grandparents and Elisa followed behind.

Lara has tried many times to hook Edwin with a few girls from their social circle and Edwin has always behaved indifferently.

Though it had always made Lara dissatisfied, she had never stopped.

Edward knew this would be the same this time too, but he couldn’t persuade his wife as he has always doted on Lara.

Lara took Chesley’s hand and walked toward the dining room and when Lara wanted to make Chesley sit beside Edwin, Elisa took the chance and sat before Chesley could walk.

“Chesley, come beside me,” Lara said, trying to manage the situation, and Chesley reluctantly took the seat opposite Edwin.

The dinner was served and everyone started their meal.

“Edwin, you know, Chesley has finished her study at Harvard. What was your major?” Lara asked, trying to start a conversation.

“International business,” Chesley replied, smiling.

“Boring,” Elisa spoke out, earning a glare from Lara.

“I was talking about broccoli.” Elisa forked out the broccoli from the salad and showed it to Lara.

“Don’t waste food. Bear with it, even if it’s not to your liking,” Edwin scolded her and Lara looked at the broccoli like it was her enemy and gulped it down sadly.

But she was smiling, thinking the comment also applied to something else.

“What I was saying? Oh, your major. I heard you are working in the White group. Which post?” Lara asked again.

“I am working as the CEO’s assistant. Dad wants me to take over the company, so he is training me beforehand.” Chesley replied haughtily.

“Bro, didn’t you offer me to join the Wilson group? Which position will you give me? CEO’s assistant?” Elisa asked eagerly. What is the big deal about working in your father’s company?

Even if she worked as a CEO it would be nothing but nepotism.

“No problem. Join the office tomorrow.” Edwin replied normally.

But his agreement was nothing but a slap for Chesely, which made Chesely’s well-maintained smile wear off.

“You are such a good brother,” Elisa said, smiling, but her eyes were mocking Chesley.

The white group was a mediocre company compared to the Wilson group.

Last year, Chesely’s father, David White, earned two large-scale business projects which let them become part of the upper business society.

Elisa was not a petty person. But how Chesely was showing off in front of their grandparents, Elisa couldn’t bear it.

Though Chesley looked beautiful, Elisa knew her heart wasn’t as pretty as her makeup-smearing face.

She even doubted Chesely had done a few plastic surgeries because her face was too perfect for a human being.

But more than her face, it irked Elisa how she was showing off her dress and accessories to Elisa even before Edwin came.

Elisa has always been dotted upon, though Edwin wasn’t friendly, he never stopped Elisa from doing anything.

Elisa got a hefty amount of pocket money every month.

Though the number was unknown, her card never reached its limit.

How could Elisa bear Chesley’s show-off?

She has always hated those types of people.

That was the reason for Elisa’s prejudice.

She could never let a crow act like a peacock.

After Elisa’s behavior, Lara was feeling guilty. She never thought Elisa would behave like this with their guest.

But Lara wasn’t so stupid to embarrass Elisa in front of an outsider.

She didn’t proceed with her plan, she can arrange other things later.

When the dinner was over, Lara wanted to make an opportunity for Chesley so she sent Elisa to fetch something from her room.

“I am feeling tired, Edward. Sorry, Chesley. I would love to take some rest. I think Edwin can keep your company.” Lara was getting up when Edwin’s phone rang up.

It was a call from Ben, and Edwin knew Ben wouldn’t disturb him unless it was something important.

“Excuse me, I need to take this call.” Edwin got up from his chair and walked outside.

Lara knew it was useless to stop him as it was already a blessing he showed up for dinner.

She didn’t find it appropriate to leave Chesley behind, so she took Chesley to chat in the living room.

They talked for some time but Edwin didn’t return even though almost an hour had passed.

“Roman, check what the young master was doing for so long?” Lara was getting anxious.

Roman walked out to find out his whereabouts but returned with a disappointed look.

“Madam, the Young master has left after getting a call. One maid saw him leaving, and according to her he was in a hurry,” Roman replied.

Roman has been working here for almost thirty years.

So, he could understand what was going on in his madam’s mind.

Though the girl wasn’t something Roman would want as Edwin’s wife too, he could wish only what his madam wanted.

“That boy,” Lara sighed sadly and looked at Chesley with an apologetic face.

But Elisa who was coming down the stairs, not getting the special box her grandma had sent her to search couldn’t help herself from dancing.

That’s why she loved her brother so much.

He never disappointed her.

Chesley, who was planning how to trap Edwin in her charm, could only bid her goodbye and leave Wilson’s villa.
