I woke to the sound of rain hitting the window softly and an irritating vibrating noise that made me groan. I rolled over looking for my phone along my nightstand. I finally found it and glared at the text message coming in from Nel. I rolled back over, running my hand over the bed which was apparently empty.
I opened my eyes again and searched for her. The rain on the window got harder and drew my eyes over to the balcony doors which were swung open. I sat up and looked out them to see my mate standing on the balcony in the rain. Her back was to me and she was standing with her hands out to her sides.
I pulled myself out of bed and walked towards her, growing more concerned as I watched the rain increase around her, falling faster and rolling off her shoulders.
“Baby?” I said as I reached the balcony door. She didn’t react. She stayed absolutely still so I repeated myself, but still
{ Raine }I couldn’t seem to come to terms with the new power that I could literally feel surging through me. I could sense water, in the house, outside, I could feel how far away the ocean was from us as a definitive measurement and it was calling to me in a way I had never experienced. My wolf seemed as excited as I was, she said that she could feel the power, that it was in her as well which was a question I had had since this came about and we learned I was the first werewolf elemental.I wandered out of our bedroom and towards the kitchen. We had a small kitchenette on our floor that needed updating. Clearly the boys hadn’t ever used it and it had basically been sitting here since Alex’s parents handed him the alpha title. I walked through it and made a mental note of the things it needed. Appliances, groceries, utensils, etc. I wanted a place for us to be able to eat together on occasion and also have a pl
“whoa…” I breathed out. “That was 17 years ago. Thanks to a witch that Earth knows, we were able to alter the memories of the villagers and keep our secret safe. But there will always be someone who wants us gone, just like there are werewolf hunters.” Baby?-- I jumped as his voice filled my head. Alex. Yes I’m here, what is it?- I need you to come up to the office if you have a minute- Yes, I’m at my dads but I’ll be there in 5- “Dad, Alex is in a conference call with other alphas, we finally got some of the other countries outside of Europe. Anyway he needs me for a minute, can be continue this later?” “Of course Rainey, I have to get everything ready in the spare room for Air and Earth anyway. They will be here in a couple hours and then we can all meet up for lunch,” I gave h
{ Alex } I pushed back my chair and released a sigh as we hung up the phone with the last Alpha we needed to contact for a little while at least. We had spent the entire morning on the phone, updating others with the information we knew and gaining more information from them as well. Somewhere in the middle of the longest call with all the Alphas my mate disappeared and had just reappeared with a few warriors. They all had items in their hands and she told me to redirect the phone calls to the empty spare room on our floor. When I came into the spare room I was shocked to say the least. She had turned It into a war room in a matter of minutes. Warriors removed all the furniture, they brought in a big table and several chairs lined the walls along the perimeter. There was small table with a coffee maker and a dozen mugs on a rack with a mini fridge full of snacks and creamer. On the main table in the center of the room were maps. The larg
I was watching the water dance off her shoulders and run down her back disappearing past her sweet ass as it journeyed to the drain. She must have felt my lust wash over her in the mind link because she turned around and eyed me up and down.“Still not sated, Alpha?” she asked me coyly. Then I watched as she slowly dropped to her knees in front of me without breaking eye contact. She reached a hand out, grasping me while her other hand found my balls and began massaging. I reached one hand to the wall to stabalize myself and the other to the back of her head as I released a deep, loud growl.“Holy fuck, Raine…”She leaned out and gave a sharp lick from my base to the tip earning a groan from me. She took her time, teasing before eventually dropping her mouth over me and taking me in as far as she could. Her hands never stopped moving, one at the base moving in sync with her mouth. Her touch
{ Raine } As dad and I walked away from the packhouse I got a little more nervous. I didn’t know exactly what to expect from the other elementals. Dad seemed like he really liked them, but I also couldn’t help the expectations that I felt weighed on me from the previous Water, the fact they had to wait 17 years for me to gain my powers, and the fact I Was the first of my kind as a were-elemental. “Relax honey,: dad said, noticing my fidgeting fingers. “They are kind, and very laid back. They are excited to meet you!” I just nodded in response as we walked up his steps to his cabin. He opened the door and I took a deep breath before we walked in. Sitting on the couch was a man with curly blonde hair that looked slightly unkempt. He looked up as he heard us and I saw he had the most piercing green eyes. They were breathtaking and I couldn’t help but smile as I took them in. I then turned to see the slightly older, bu
I heaved a deep sigh as I once again missed the mark and tried to refocus my emotions.“You’re thinking too much, feel Raine, Feel.” I heard Gust’s voice echo from somewhere off to the side of me. It had been I dont even know how many days since he and Tell had arrived and I felt as if I was no closer to controlling my element. They disagreed, always telling me I was stronger already than they were years in, but I didn’t need strength without control. That would hurt my people. So here I was, in the cove on pack lands that was well hidden from the other pack members, trying to harness the water that called to my soul.“You need to find the one emotion that triggers it. And I can already tell you it isn’t anger, so focus on the one you know you have to but don’t want to,” Tell told me.I huffed. He was right. Anger wasn’t my emotion. Anger wasn’t tied to wa
I felt my eyes widen and his grip on me tightened as he saw me begin to panic.“I-I don’t know, what that entails, or what, will they want me, or be happy, or?” I felt the worry rising each second but my mate simply chuckled.“Baby we have been mated for weeks, really this is just a ceremony, you are already Luna to me and to them, this is to make it official and bond you with the pack. They adore you, I have had nothing but good comments on the way you drop in to help different areas like daycare, pack clinic, anywhere you are needed. You always have time to talk, you are compassionate and patient. You are a Luna, so don’t worry about whether you can do it, because you have been since you moved here in a lot of ways,” he told me softly as he stroked me cheek.I took in his words, thinking back to all the things he said that I’ve done and do. I wasn’t scared of being
{ Alex }I paced the office thinking of the evening to come. I was nervous, excited, all the emotions running over me but none as powerful as happiness. Every moment of every day I was thinking about Raine. In under a month I had gone from a single dad and Alpha to a lovesick puppy. And tonight was officially going to be my Luna. I had been through this ceremony before. I could feel the emotions of that night lingering in the back ground, my doubt as Caroline took the oath, the lack of emotion from the pack, nothing was right and I hated myself for ignoring the signs. Tonight on the other hand, the pack was busy and excited. Everyone had pitched in, the ceremony that was going to be a BBQ turned into a night of actual celebration thanks to my mother. We had dinner being served, a dance floor built, it was going to be a night for love and happiness and I couldn’t wait.I heard a knock on my door and Nel stepped in. He was dressed
9 years later.{ Raine }“MAMAAAAAAA!!”I released a deep sigh as her loud voice echoed through the house. What now for the love of the Goddess above, I muttered to myself.“Yes mija?” I called out.“Cooper stole my ice cream again!” Isabella, my youngest screeched..“Ok mija, where is he?”“Across the field, by the training house,” she called out and sniffled. She was my baby, at only 7.5 years old. And while her brother was the sweetest and gentlest with her of his siblings, there were extenuating circumstances sometimes, and in this particular one, it wasn’t actually about his sister at all.I walked out to the front door and peered over. Sure enough, there he was. Cooper was 12 now, and standing there by the field building with him was Catalina, the only girl he had eyes for. This was the third time he had taken something from his sister to give to her. It was always the same, Catalina’s favorite ice cream was also Bellas favorite. But I Wasn’t having this at all.I mindlinked the
The thought occurs to me as I watch the breeze continue while Alex tickles Cooper and his sweet giggles float across the wind and make me smile and so I voice it.“Wait, what is the emotion that affects Air?”In all the time I had known and trained with Gus he never once mentioned what his emotion was like my dad and Tellus had. Happiness, Anger, Sadness… what was the mystical fourth one?The softest and smallest smile crossed Tellus’ face as he looked to me and then to my son and finally to my dad who shared the same smile as him.“I didn’t realize you had never asked Gus, I wish you would have. He always had the best explanation for it, the best way to describe it.” Dad said.“It’s love,” Tellus said to me.Love…“Oh,” I said more to myself. Love. I was havi
As we walked away I felt the heartache begin to fade. I stopped in my tracks and I watched as my father and Tellus did the same. “That was fast,” Tellus said more to himself. “Yeah,” my dad breathed out. They both looked at me and noticed my confusion that mirrored theirs, except I didn’t have the answer that they clearly did. “What just happened?” I asked when neither off them offered it up. “What do you mean?” Alex responded with worry etched on his faced. He glanced at me and looked me over from top to toe. I noticed him shift between his feet and then glance toward the direction of the battle, then back to me. “Another was already chosen,” Tellus tells us. “Another Air,” my dad adds as he looks at both of us to make sure we understand. “What? Already?” I asked, shocked. “Wow,
{ Raine }I watched as Alex took off to Rick where I had landed him. That burst of water had been the perfect way to allow Alex the opening he needed to safely approach and challenge Rick. Once Alex and Rick were both shifted and circling each other, I moved my focus to the rest of the fight.I couldn’t help the smirk that formed on my face when I took in the chaos that my fellow elementals were causing. Wolves were literally on fire despite my heavy rains, those tornados from Gus were perfectly placed and Tell was a beast with his powers. I never would have guessed that his abilites could be so effective in a war. Himself and mine seem to be the least deadly, but we were proving otherwise.I heard a growl from the left of me and turned to see a rogue sneaking up on me. I quickly formed a puddle underneath him that go deeper and deeper. It was only a distraction though, and it worked perfectly. He moved his paws un
“You should not have come here.”“You are my daughter, you don’t belong here.” Nora yelled at her. Her voice cracked a bit but she recovered quickly and put up her front.“I belong with my pack,” Raine said with conviction.Nora sneered at her now, “Oh really? And with your… mate?”The disgust in her voice as she mentioned me seemed to make Raine angry.“There is no one and no where I would rather be than with him.” She held her chin up high as she addressed her mother while also keeping a side eye on her mother’s mate who seemed to be tense and uncomfortable.“Fool, they have told you such things. Packs are unforgiving and toxic. Have you forgotten what they did to me? To us?” Nora screamed at Raine.I saw Raine smack her tongue against the front o
{ Raine }I felt a rough hand grab mine as I counted down to 0 along with Alex. I knew from the feeling of fire burning up my arm it was my father. 5 seconds.“No more rogues are moving, over a hundred backed down, but they still have an impressive army. I don’t know what Alex said, but it really pissed off Nora and Rick, I can feel the anger coming off them in waves, even sensing them from here,” I told the room.It was myself, the other 3 elementals, and 5 of the warriors from our pack. We were in a house that was on the packlands, but separate from the packhouse and main area. If they did search for me at the main packlands they wouldn’t find me. This was a small cabin in the woods that Abuelo and Jason’s grandfather had built as a bit of a safe house if needed, but it was mostly used by the Luna and Mona of the packs over the years when they needed some peace. To make it the prime spot t
{ Alexander }I snaked my arm around Raine in an attempt to push back this bristled feeling that was growing every minute that we grew closer to the fight and she wasn’t hidden somewhere. I glanced at my watch for 6thtime this minute.39 minutes.I needed her safe. I needed her gone from here. I have no doubt the rogues will send out spys to see if we are here and if they see Raine they may attack early or worse, follow her to her hiding spot.“Baby,” I said for the umpteenth time. She put her hand on my hand that was on her waist to acknowledge me but didn’t respond to me as she was directing warriors to their positions. She was glorious right now, I took another moment to appreciate her in this role before I sent her away. Her stretegy was flawless, her insight was priceless and I did feel a touch bad that she wasn’t going to be able to be here closer
“They need to know Raine is here, they need to know you want to end this war, and where to meet. I don’t see them backing down from the challenge, they don’t know you have thousands of extra warriors here from our packs the local ones. This should be enough, but bottom line, you say what you need to to get them there,” Alex told him sternly. Jason, to his credit, held Alex’s gaze despite his growing and demanding aura the more he spoke.“Yes Your Highness,” he said with a bowed head. We pulled a phone over to the table and he tried the first number. It rang a few times, but then we got to a generic voicemail. He dialed the second number and after three rings, someone answered.“What?”I sucked in a breathe as my mother’s voice filled the other end of the line. This was it, this was the finally slap of reality. Any piece of me that had still hoped she wasn&
Once we were settled it was a long flight. We stopped in for gas on the East Coast of America briefly and I mindlinked Jason for an update. All our warriors ahead of us had now arrived and they were settled in. Jason was an impressive Alpha, and if pressed I would say that I would trust him to run all of America for me if needed. He was organized, thoughtful, merciful when necessary, and while I hate the word, obedient. He didn’t fight me near as much as the other Alphas still did. He had damn near everything ready for us when we arrived and I thanked him for it.A quick gas up and we were on our way. Raine and Cooper were asleep in the bed in the back of the plane, but I couldn’t sleep. I was mind linking Car and working through maps for tomorrow. It was the middle of the night now thanks to how long we had to fly, it would damn near be morning once we arrived. I wouldn’t have long to get everything in order to attack.I h
