I couldn’t believe my eyes as I stood there in the forest clearing hugging my sister. I thought she had been taken from me for good. I have cared for her most of her life after our parents were killed when Shy was a baby. The woman who stood back watching us was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her hair was a rich brown and her eyes were shining an electric blue almost like neon signs. She had to be a shifter for them to be glowing but as I sniffed the air to find out which kind her scent of fresh rain filled my nose. It drove my wolf crazy and before I knew it the word Mate came out of my mouth. I sensed that whatever she was the magic she radiated was definitely powerful. The woman stood taller than most men close to six foot but she would come to my shoulders I just knew it. I released Shy and asked her what happened all the while never taking my eyes from the lovely woman standing next to Shy. Shy explained about her run and the kidnapping and being attacked and backed into a corner in an alley in town. Growls rang out as she spoke of the cat shifters and hatred glared in Selwyn’s eyes as they went from dark blue to that of his wolf eyes bright green. Shy continued on by telling them all how Rain killed the cats and saved her and that Rain was bringing her back home. I grabbed Shy and hugged her again looking over the top of her head at Rain I smiled. “ Thank you for saving my sister. Come with me now my mate we have much to discuss.” I said to Rain and grabbed her hand walking with her back to my home. Her hand was soft and warm and little shocking tingles races up my arm from my hand as we walked. This felt so right and I thanked the moon goddess for sending me this beautiful Angel. Maybe she really was one. I still wasn’t sure what exactly she was but I wasn’t going to ask in front of my most skilled warriors. This would be a subject for complete privacy. I smiled to myself hoping that she didn’t refuse our bond that was slowly forming inside me. I wondered if she felt the bond like I did. I was so turned on just from her scent and the fact that she was gorgeous. I admired the fact that she didn’t resist the idea of being my mate. She also held onto my hand as if we walked hand in hand all the time. Which of course we will if I have anything to do with it. I wanted so badly to kiss her and claim her. My wolf Maxim was fighting to be let free to mark his mate. I pushed him back down into my mind so I could focus on getting us back to the pack house as soon as possible. Before long the pack house came into view and Rain stopped and smiled. Her whole face lit up and pride washed thru me at the thought of my mate being appreciative of the home I will provide for her. Never will I let her walk away from this place or me. She was becoming my obsession and I didn’t even know her well yet. That thought alone should scare me but I didn’t fear being mates. I always wanted a strong mate to help lead the pack along side me. We walked up the stone path to the front door it flew open and Connie who was Shy’s best friend, came running out with her arms open wide and tears falling down her cheeks. She wrapped Shy in her arms and ushered her inside with the promise of a hot bath and food and plenty of sleep. I let Connie take Shy upstairs and tend to my little sister knowing she was safe again. Happiness flooded my mind as I walked Rain down the hall to my office and closed the door locking it so I wouldn’t be interrupted. I sat down in my leather chair behind my desk and pulled Rain down to sit in my lap not wanting to let her go now that I finally found her. A quick look of surprise crossed her face and she blushed a pretty shade of light pink. “So tell me sweetheart first off what’s your whole name?” She looked into my eyes and smiled shyly and licked her bottom lip. I grew hard at the motion of her tongue and wondered what it would feel like on my body. She shifted on my lap turning into me more so she could look into my eyes. It took a lot of self control and pushing Maxim back in my mind to keep me from spreading my mate across my desk and claiming her. The only thing stopping me at the moment was not knowing what she was yet. Her eyes stayed staring into mine and I knew they were glowing. Her smile never left her lips and I wondered if she was indeed feeling the mate bond. She opened her mouth and spoke clearly and softly saying “ My name is Rain Zepher and I am your fated mate.” Joy filled my mind and heart as she excepted our mate bond but I had to know what she was. Something about her features looked so familiar so I asked her what kind of shifter was she. Her last name rang a bell in my mind as I knew of Zephers but they were dragons and from what I had heard the cats had killed the last of their kind a few days ago. It still bothered me greatly that mighty dragons had been brought down by stinking cat men. It had been awhile since Xander Zepher visited me here and his loss was a huge blow to our pack. Xander and his Mate Carla were loved by all the pack. Surely she isn’t one of them or is she? They never claimed they had a daughter but also never said they didn’t. As I thought of all the possibilities and how if indeed she was a dragon there would be war when the cats found out that they left a dragon alive and she was my mate. This news would infuriate Talis and his clan. I hated that Alpha cat with a passion and I swore after Xander and Carla’s deaths that I would destroy Talis once and for all. I looked at her face again and saw the similarities of the Zephers I had been loyal to. Rain looked uncertain and nervous and for a moment I thought she wouldn’t tell me. Her gaze locked with mine and her eyes shone bright neon blue as she spoke. “ I am a dragon shifter and I am the daughter of the last Zephers in the world Xander and Carla. My parents were killed a few days ago by the Alpha Talis of the Cat shifter clan. They kept me hidden away from the world so no one would know who or what I am. It was the only way they could make sure I had a chance at finding my fated mate. I knew about the loyalty between you and them and was on my way here to meet with you and keep that loyalty strong. Your name was all I knew when I started my journey here and came upon Shy in that alley. I couldn’t just walk by and let them hurt her so I destroyed them that way Shy was safe and the cats don’t find out about me just yet. The magic I used to get rid of the cats is very ancient and only members of my family had that type. It's elemental energy magic and I used the electric energy in the air." She paused to gage my reaction searching my face and waiting to see my reaction. I immediately felt pride in my mate and it showed on my face as I smiled at her. She must have had a very sheltered and lonely life. I smiled at her and wrapped my arms around her hugging her to my chest. I couldn't wait any longer so I tipped her chin up and kissed her lips in a soft kiss. It only took a second for Rain to shyly kiss me back. I could tell that she was shy but wanted me and that made my heart soar. I needed to know all about how dragons bonded with their mate so I would know how to proceed with Rain. Wolves mated for life and when we found out fated mate we fell hard and fast knowing that we were with The One. All I could hope was that dragon shifters were the same. I knew she was more powerful than me and a part of me didn’t know if it was going to be a good thing. My Alpha command would never work with her. I had a feeling she would be able to command me. This made me a bit uneasy but I was still to full of excitement at finding my mate. Rain raised up in my lap and shrugged off her backpack and jacket setting them on the floor beside my chair. She leaned her long hot body back against me and laid her head on my chest. I wrapped my arms around her and hoped that she felt as attached to me as I was becoming to her.
