CHAPTER 6

Frightened, Crystal moved from the desk without dropping the documents she had already found. The person looking at her was the same one who was stalking her to find the destiny he had imposed on her. The smile on his depredator was something she couldn't stand no matter how hard she tried.

"What is this all about?” She asked annoyingly, what she was beginning to feel for her grandfather was just hate, hatred and nothing more than that.

"Have you not read them? Or, do you once again need time to realize what it says and what you have committed to do?”

"Tell me once and for all what this is about!”

"Don't you dare yell at me!”

"I won't do it as long as you tell me what's happening!”

"This is a new contract, my dear granddaughter, haven't you read it? Do you need someone to come and translate it for you? Do you need Brandon to come and find out about this?”

Crystal shook her head, not wanting to see the monster that had raised her. Her grandfather was never good, her grandfather only wanted her to stay by his side because he always had his granddaughter's destiny in his power.

"Let me read you the new contract you have to sign," the man said, clearing his throat. "Dear daughter, now that circumstances have changed and given that you have not been able to get pregnant with the future heir of the Lambert family, I find it necessary to make you sign this contract in which it clearly states the date on which you must become pregnant. This time I won't allow one more day, I wanted to be patient, Crystal and you know it better than anyone, but I see that you don't leave me any other option. You have one month to get pregnant and considering that there will be nine months in which you will suffer, you have ten months in total so that you can fill the Lambert family with joy as was stated in the first contract.”

Crystal couldn't believe her grandfather's words. He was a monster, a damn monster who only saw his interests, who didn't care about anything else, who didn't care about the suffering she might be going through.

"What makes you believe I'm not pregnant?" Crystal asked with tears in her eyes.

"Your strange way of acting, daughter, don't think I'm stupid, I know perfectly well that you and Brandon are hiding something from us, and what more could it be than this?”

Crystal had been foolish to think that no one would know but Brandon.

"Not this time, dear grandfather, this time things will not be done as you intend, realize that things have changed," Crystal said smiling, it was only a matter of days until she delivered the final blow. "It's a shame that you continue to see hope in me. You can keep your damn contract because I'm not signing it! I was your puppet once, I won't be again,” Crystal said, walking towards the door.

"Are you sure you're not going to sign even knowing that I have your parents in my hands? What would happen if I told you if I was thinking about taking them out of that damn grave they were in, sending them to be cremated, and never letting you see them?”

Those words made her stop so suddenly. No, that couldn't be possible, her grandfather couldn't be playing with it, with the memory of his parents that was all she had left.

"What?" She asked, turning to look at him.

"Just as you heard it, your parents in exchange for signing that document!”

No doubt he would always make her suffer. He would always find a way to do it, to block her way, to make her feel less than trash.

"How can you do this to me?”

"Prove that you're pregnant and I promise not to get into your damn life again! Don't you know that your husband's family is beginning to despair?”

"I don't have to prove anything to you or anyone.”

"It's a shame we have to come to this then.”

"Cursed the day my parents left and left me in your care, cursed the day I thought I could see you as a father, cursed you and your life.”

"Don't you dare talk to me like that, Crystal! And if you're already pregnant, and if you really don't know anything yet, let's go to the hospital first thing tomorrow morning and see the damn result once and for all.”

"I'm not going anywhere!” Crystal shouted, resisting the pain in her soul as she felt betrayed by her own family.

"Then sign! Tell me, what will you do the moment the Lambert family starts asking questions? What will you do, Crystal Bennett?”

"I will do whatever I have to do to make you and everyone who hurt me pay!”

Crystal's grandfather laughed mockingly. "This is not a damn action movie, this is not a revenge story!" He shouted.

"Why don't you let me be free, grandfather? What did I do to you to make you do this to me?!”

And without either of them knowing, outside, just behind the office doors, a man was walking around with a glass of wine in his hand. Shoes well polished, other hand in his pants pocket. At first he just seemed to be walking around but it was Crystal and his grandfather's screams that caught his attention.

"You fell in love with him like an idiot, right?" Crystal's grandfather asked.

Inside she only knew how to stay silent. She shouldn't have those feelings for him.

And outside, Wyatt who smiled like he had rarely done before. Crystal hadn't said a word about that and to finish them off, he had warned her.

"I'm talking to you, Crystal! You've fallen in love with him, haven't you?!” He asked. "And above all, now I can understand the reason why you didn't want to give him a child! You don't want to do it because you would make the life of the love of your life miserable!” Crystal's grandfather said laughing.

Outside, Wyatt had already heard it all. Her doubts had been resolved, she was not pregnant with Brandon, she had nothing that tied her to him and among all that, she really was in love with Brandon, as in love as leaving him free, letting him go with the person he really wanted when the reality was that Brandon didn't love anyone. He didn't know what love was.

What to say about Wyatt? Never before had he felt such happiness in his soul, Crystal was a free woman at the end of the day, a woman who would always be able to give her heart to the man who put her first. That was Wyatt's goal at the time.

Perhaps without knowing it, he was in love with her. Perhaps without knowing it, he needed her more than he himself would have thought.

"Those are things that don't matter to you!" Crystal said with tears flooding her beautiful eyes.

"You're right, these are things that don't matter to me!”

And without further ado, fed up with his granddaughter's words, he went to her, taking her arm abruptly. He would never have wanted to go to that point before. Never before would he have wanted to expose his granddaughter the way he was going to do it, but apparently, that was the only way he would have to force her to have that child that the Lambert family was already demanding of her.
