Frightened, Crystal moved from the desk without dropping the documents she had already found. The person looking at her was the same one who was stalking her to find the destiny he had imposed on her. The smile on his depredator was something she couldn't stand no matter how hard she tried.
"What is this all about?” She asked annoyingly, what she was beginning to feel for her grandfather was just hate, hatred and nothing more than that.
"Have you not read them? Or, do you once again need time to realize what it says and what you have committed to do?”
"Tell me once and for all what this is about!”
"Don't you dare yell at me!”
"I won't do it as long as you tell me what's happening!”
"This is a new contract, my dear granddaughter, haven't you read it? Do you need someone to come and translate it for you? Do you need Brandon to come and find out about this?”
Crystal shook her head, not wanting to see the monster that had raised her. Her grandfather was never good, her grandfather only wanted her to stay by his side because he always had his granddaughter's destiny in his power.
"Let me read you the new contract you have to sign," the man said, clearing his throat. "Dear daughter, now that circumstances have changed and given that you have not been able to get pregnant with the future heir of the Lambert family, I find it necessary to make you sign this contract in which it clearly states the date on which you must become pregnant. This time I won't allow one more day, I wanted to be patient, Crystal and you know it better than anyone, but I see that you don't leave me any other option. You have one month to get pregnant and considering that there will be nine months in which you will suffer, you have ten months in total so that you can fill the Lambert family with joy as was stated in the first contract.”
Crystal couldn't believe her grandfather's words. He was a monster, a damn monster who only saw his interests, who didn't care about anything else, who didn't care about the suffering she might be going through.
"What makes you believe I'm not pregnant?" Crystal asked with tears in her eyes.
"Your strange way of acting, daughter, don't think I'm stupid, I know perfectly well that you and Brandon are hiding something from us, and what more could it be than this?”
Crystal had been foolish to think that no one would know but Brandon.
"Not this time, dear grandfather, this time things will not be done as you intend, realize that things have changed," Crystal said smiling, it was only a matter of days until she delivered the final blow. "It's a shame that you continue to see hope in me. You can keep your damn contract because I'm not signing it! I was your puppet once, I won't be again,” Crystal said, walking towards the door.
"Are you sure you're not going to sign even knowing that I have your parents in my hands? What would happen if I told you if I was thinking about taking them out of that damn grave they were in, sending them to be cremated, and never letting you see them?”
Those words made her stop so suddenly. No, that couldn't be possible, her grandfather couldn't be playing with it, with the memory of his parents that was all she had left.
"What?" She asked, turning to look at him.
"Just as you heard it, your parents in exchange for signing that document!”
No doubt he would always make her suffer. He would always find a way to do it, to block her way, to make her feel less than trash.
"How can you do this to me?”
"Prove that you're pregnant and I promise not to get into your damn life again! Don't you know that your husband's family is beginning to despair?”
"I don't have to prove anything to you or anyone.”
"It's a shame we have to come to this then.”
"Cursed the day my parents left and left me in your care, cursed the day I thought I could see you as a father, cursed you and your life.”
"Don't you dare talk to me like that, Crystal! And if you're already pregnant, and if you really don't know anything yet, let's go to the hospital first thing tomorrow morning and see the damn result once and for all.”
"I'm not going anywhere!” Crystal shouted, resisting the pain in her soul as she felt betrayed by her own family.
"Then sign! Tell me, what will you do the moment the Lambert family starts asking questions? What will you do, Crystal Bennett?”
"I will do whatever I have to do to make you and everyone who hurt me pay!”
Crystal's grandfather laughed mockingly. "This is not a damn action movie, this is not a revenge story!" He shouted.
"Why don't you let me be free, grandfather? What did I do to you to make you do this to me?!”
And without either of them knowing, outside, just behind the office doors, a man was walking around with a glass of wine in his hand. Shoes well polished, other hand in his pants pocket. At first he just seemed to be walking around but it was Crystal and his grandfather's screams that caught his attention.
"You fell in love with him like an idiot, right?" Crystal's grandfather asked.
Inside she only knew how to stay silent. She shouldn't have those feelings for him.
And outside, Wyatt who smiled like he had rarely done before. Crystal hadn't said a word about that and to finish them off, he had warned her.
"I'm talking to you, Crystal! You've fallen in love with him, haven't you?!” He asked. "And above all, now I can understand the reason why you didn't want to give him a child! You don't want to do it because you would make the life of the love of your life miserable!” Crystal's grandfather said laughing.
Outside, Wyatt had already heard it all. Her doubts had been resolved, she was not pregnant with Brandon, she had nothing that tied her to him and among all that, she really was in love with Brandon, as in love as leaving him free, letting him go with the person he really wanted when the reality was that Brandon didn't love anyone. He didn't know what love was.
What to say about Wyatt? Never before had he felt such happiness in his soul, Crystal was a free woman at the end of the day, a woman who would always be able to give her heart to the man who put her first. That was Wyatt's goal at the time.
Perhaps without knowing it, he was in love with her. Perhaps without knowing it, he needed her more than he himself would have thought.
"Those are things that don't matter to you!" Crystal said with tears flooding her beautiful eyes.
"You're right, these are things that don't matter to me!”
And without further ado, fed up with his granddaughter's words, he went to her, taking her arm abruptly. He would never have wanted to go to that point before. Never before would he have wanted to expose his granddaughter the way he was going to do it, but apparently, that was the only way he would have to force her to have that child that the Lambert family was already demanding of her.
While at the party, Brandon kept observing the hallways of the Bennett house without seeing his wife coming out from anywhere, something was not right and now that he thought about it, what was right in his life from the moment they two had joined in marriage? Nothing was right. Nothing. At his side, Crystal's cousin arrived."Do you know where my cousin is?" Sebastian asked, drinking from his wine. Brandon looked at him. "I saw she came in with you, where is she?”"Well, you see she's not with me." Sebastian said, watching Brandon worry. Now that he thought about it, he had seen his wife and her grandfather talking. That could only mean one thing, one thing only. Crystal, his wife, was in trouble.Just as Brandon decided to go look for her, his cell phone immediately started ringing. Brandon looked at Sebastian as if asking his permission to answer before seeing his wife."Do whatever you want," Sebastian said, walking forward to see his cousin. And without anything stopping him,
For her part, Crystal didn't know what else to think, first he was the man who had treated her with so much love one night before and now he was the man who had just watched everything from a distance while she was humiliated by her own grandfather along with Mr. Lambert.Scared or rather, wanting to look like she was scared when she was really happy about what she had just seen they had done to Crystal, Tábata went after them.Right at the exit she saw them, all that her eyes witnessed was the detestable way in which Crystal pushed Brandon aside as if she didn't want him to be her protection at that moment and given the circumstances, who would like a man to act as her protection in front of everyone when the reality is that he had made fun of her from a few meters back?"Let go of me and let me go," she asked with tears in her eyes."I won't do it! Why do you see everything how only you want to see it? Why don't you realize the reality? Why don't you realize that now I have stayed h
While at the Lambert house, Mr. Lambert and Mrs. Victoria, and Enrique drank and ate the sandwiches that the servants had brought. There was nothing else to talk about there other than business and more business."At least my grandson is doing something right," said Mr. Lambert, clearly still upset by what he had not managed to do that morning. He was on his way to the Bennett house when Enrique's call made a detour just to tell him that he needed to talk to Brandon about a business that was going to start taking place between them."Please, Mr. Lambert, my son has always shown himself to be a person who takes everything that has to do with the company responsibly," said Mrs. Victoria. Mr. Lambert only made a not very friendly gesture and then drank from his wine."Well, why don't you tell us about the business? I deserve to know too, don't I?”"Of course, Mr. Lambert," Enrique said.At that moment, the front door was heard opening. The person they were waiting for had arrived. Wi
In Crystal's house, the same one that Victoria had told her was not hers, she was sitting on the couch, unable to stop looking at the document that her mother-in-law had left her. All that woman wanted was to continue enjoying everything that money gave her along with the power that her son had to lead the company. How much more was Brandon going to endure in the same situation? How much longer until he realized that his mother was just using him? And even if he already knew it, how much more time would have to pass before the day would come when he would rebel against his mother? No calls on his cell phone. She no longer cared at all what she had to endure because sooner rather than later she was going to be free as she always wanted to be, Crystal would live the life she wanted from the beginning, Brandon would finally be able to marry Tábata, there was nothing that prevented them from being together now. Crystal's heart couldn't be happier, she simply couldn't imagine what a littl
Two wooden doors that opened in front of his eyes. Crystal sighed. Even if everything she had been through had made her fall, made her go weak, that was the last thing she should show in front of the two men who were already waiting for her and who smiled when she saw her there, in front of them."It's nice to see you here once again, Miss Crystal Bennett," Enrique said."Go ahead, daughter, go ahead," said Mr. Brown tenderly. That was what that young woman with the sad look caused to Mr. Brown. While in Mr. Aguilera's office, Enrique was finishing understanding everything that had happened just a few seconds ago."No, that can't be possible. I refuse to believe it." Enrique said while his head was spinning."Just as you heard, she is Brandon Lambert's wife.”"How do you know? Why didn't anyone tell me anything? Did you know it from the beginning?”"She asked me to never say anything, she needed an impulse that would make her move forward and bring back her freedom.”"What freedom are you talking about? She's Brandon's wife!”"Wife under contract!” Said the man defending Crystal, because he knew better than anyone what it was like to live a life that we never wanted before."In the end she is his wife and that is what matters, I can't believe that his own wife intends to do this to him, to become his rival.”"More than being the rival of the Lamberts, she intends to be the rival of her own grandfather, Mr. Bennett.”"Why? Is this a romance and revenge movie?”"Precisely for t
A little disoriented, knowing that Brandon had left early and had not even slept with her that night, she couldn't come up with an idea of the person who could be knocking on her door.Carefully and because of the high shoes she was wearing, she went down the stairs. She could be destroyed, she could be feeling that her soul was leaving her body but she was never going to represent it in her physical state. That morning she was wearing a black dress, a little shorter than normal with high heels while her wavy brown hair fell over her shoulders.Sighing heavily she opened the door. She no longer wanted to be the prey of any more surprises, she was tired of the same thing. And as soon as she opened the door she noticed that a woman of no more than forty-five years old, reddish hair, dressed very elegantly, was taking off her sunglasses in front of her while a smile invaded her face. She must have imagined it, always. She must have had her in mind before anyone else.He was not a good
TWO DAYS LATER"So this is the end?" Brandon asked as he stopped with Tábata's suitcases.Tabata smiled immediately. "It's not the end, I already told you, I've told you thousands of times," she said, wanting and hoping that Brandon was okay. She knew better than anyone how much it had cost him to get to that point where Brandon could now dress as a confident man, a man who went against everything and everyone no matter what. For him life had not been simple at all, for him life had always been that way, stumble after stumble with the difference that now he knew how to go against that. The last thing Tábata wanted was for her best friend and almost soul brother to relapse once again. He just didn't deserve it, he just didn't, of all people he didn't. He had already fought enough for things to be different. He had fought enough, Brandon couldn't just fall into the flames of his grandfather's hell once again. "You're going to be okay, Brandon, you're going to be okay," she said, cares
What had become of the people who were involved in that story that seemed to never end? A story without end, that was it, a story that was never going to be made head or tail of because this was not the sweet love story between a sad CEO and a needy secretary like the majority found outside, this was the story of someone who suffers, of someone who goes out of their way for the time that passes and the time that stops being for every time he thought of her the way he still did after five years.Five years had passed for everyone, for some it was a time that passed slowly while for others they could describe those five years as the time that passes and is the same that is not felt.Crystal's cousin, Sebastian, had found happiness in the hands and eyes of another person. The same one that came as a light on his path after so much that had happened, Crystal and Brandon weren't the only ones who had problems in the world, Sebastian also had problems with himself, with the world around him
FIVE YEARS LATERLike time that passes slowly, like time that goes away and never comes back, how we end up paying for our mistakes, in the way we behave, in the way we act, always being the one that directed us to the destination that is before us. prepared not because it has been written that way but because simply, we choose it, we are the owners of our lives, we are the ones who decide to live life as we see fit. Unfortunately, there are mistakes that stay forever, there are mistakes that in life can never be repaired, such as Brandon's mistake with Crystal. This was not the typical love story where she could forgive him everything just because while they stayed together living happily ever after when the reality is that she would continue to be the one to deal with the insecurity problems that her husband had.Neither Brandon sought to make her more miserable nor did she herself seek to stay where she knew the destiny that could always be waiting for her.Five years had passed an
ONE MONTH LATERExactly one month had passed since the last time Brandon Lambert had heard from the woman he loved most in his life. A month had passed since that moment of pain where he stayed on his knees in that airport in France wanting to think that at any moment Crystal was going to appear to illuminate his life, to make him strong when he was losing all his energy, a month had passed and the truth was that nothing he had done seemed to serve any purpose. Crystal simply seemed to have disappeared from the face of the earth. No one knew anything about Wyatt in the same way. Even Brandon had reached the end of his desperation that he had gone to his cousin, just to ask if she could know anything about Wyatt. She clearly told him that she had no contact with him since the moment he broke off their engagement. As Brandon investigated further, he began to think that Crystal was always a fake, she just wanted to have the power to leave with the person she really wanted, Tábata had bee
Without caring about anything, leaving the doors of the car that Brandon was getting out of, he arrived at the airport as he himself had proposed, he didn't know much about where she was going, he only had in mind the flight schedule, everything that he could do was run, run and run and believe that at any moment his eyes would be able to see the same beautiful woman with whom he had shared the previous night.People only saw him running like a crazy man, the women thinking that it was a romantic story in which he had done so much damage to the woman he loved the most, the woman he loved most in life, but in the end he realized his mistakes and now he went after her in the hope of finding her there. While men thought and saw him as a crazy man whose life was passing away, of course those who thought that were the same ones who had never felt love firsthand."Crystal, Crystal!" Brandon started shouting throughout the airport. He no longer cared who people saw him or how they were seein
To say that hatred grew in Brandon's heart was an understatement. He felt something beyond hatred. His best friend, the person who said he loved him the most, was the same person who had separated him from his great childhood love. "How could you, Tabata?”"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, Brandon." She looked down."It's because of you that I couldn't go behind her!”"Now I'm telling you, go after her, go and tell her how much you love her, don't let her go because she's about to board with Wyatt for France.”“What?!”"I'm sorry, Brandon, I'm so sorry with all my heart.”"That's not enough, Tábata, you are going to pay for this!” He said the moment he was about to leave.Laughter filled the office. "It's a shame that it's a child who is playing at love. Now I understand Wyatt's words, Crystal doesn't deserve a man like you. If you want to go after her, heal yourself and accept that you humiliated her and were the first to extinguish the flame of her love.” Passing close to him, Tábata left
Without stopping thinking over and over again about the words that Tábata had said to him the previous night, thinking that she could be right, he had to let Crystal be happy with Brandon. He couldn't help but continue thinking about the truth that she had given him. Tábata was not pregnant but Crystal was, on top of that they loved each other but the truth was that he couldn't allow Crystal, a woman who was so valuable, to stay with a jerk like Brandon. An immature man who had done so much to her. He deserved nothing in life but death itself.A little out of alignment, Wyatt arrived at his office and as he sat down, on the desk he saw a white envelope and with fine ink it had Wyatt's name written on it. That letter seemed to be for him. With great curiosity he began to unfold the letter. Who could have given him something like that? Then he started reading…Dear Wyatt….I hope you haven't forgotten my words in that cafeteria when I told you that I would think about your proposal, I t
Brandon and Crystal, those names sounded excellent together, it was a shame they had never been seen that way, it was a shame it was Crystal's eyes that filled with tears every time Brandon was near her, it was as if his presence would hurt in the same way it healed. By that moment, Crystal could already realize that she was facing a human being, a person who had just shown himself transparent to her, from whom the thousand chains that imprisoned him had fallen, from whom the white veils had been revealed in his against and had fallen to show Crystal who he truly was.Crystal and Brandon, two people who had dreams alike, people whose lives had been destroyed by other people. And while Brandon talked about that past that hurt so much in his soul, and while Crystal thought about his words, she realized that all she wanted to do was leave clean and that way she could start over in life with that little one who God had power in her womb. It was time to tell him that she was the girl who
In the same night in which some shared a single heart, in the same night in which the looks of those said more than words could say, there were also, under the same sky, those who went out of their way to find an answer to the love that they were feeling in their soul.Under the same sky there were also those who could not have an answer to their feelings."Why did you send for me, Tábata?" Wyatt asked, not knowing why she had called him in the middle of the night. It's been a long time since they saw each other, it's been a long time since they even met up to talk about the past, or about the good times that the three of them had and that made them not want to part with each other as well as the other. The moments together, the moments when Tábata couldn't leave Brandon's side for fear that he was going to miss his true mission, those days when she thought it was just her in his life were already behind him and there was nothing to do, now another person occupied the place that she a
