It was very late at night, so hearing someone knocking on the door was enough to put Alpha Christian in protective mode.Who could be knocking on our door by this time of the night? And why didn't anyone inform him that someone was coming towards the door?We were quiet for a minute with only the sound of us breathing and the girl outside the door crying.I looked outside to see that none of the guards that were patrolling earlier were there right now.Confusion written all over Christian's face as he tried to make sense of everything.I walked slowly towards the window to check if anybody else was outside. I couldn't see anything but I could sense the change of energy.Things were tense as we moved towards the door at the same time but he signaled me to stay hidden.I did as I was told as he went to open the door. As he opened the door the girl behind it started to come into view. She slowly walked inside limping and saying ‘thank you, omg thank you’ over and over again.I watched fr
As light started to peek through the blinds, I slowly gained consciousness and my head throbbed to the beat of my heart.I was so confused about what was currently happening but I had the faintest idea.At this point I was getting used to passing out and waking up at different places. That doesn't necessarily mean I wanted it to happen again though. It all started to come back to me as I tried to sit up and gauge my environment. I was in the room I currently occupy in the house. That could only mean that Alpha Christian brought me here himself. So where was he? Where was the girl from last night?I needed answers about what happened and I wasn't going to get them sitting on this bed.Still dressed in yesterday's clothes, not even bothered to change or shower I left the room and started down the hall.If he was confident enough to leave me in that room then that meant it was safe enough to still stay here. There's still this feeling like we were out of the loop for some reason and I w
“Oh my Goddess you scared the bejeezus out of me” I said, clutching my heart when I noticed it was Alpha Christian behind me.He kept staring at me intensely. I was beginning to feel very self conscious under his stare. And because I was feeling anxious with the way he wasn't saying to me I started babbling off.“I know what it looks like but….I saw this weird looking bag on the counter and I was curious and that's why I started going through it which….now that I'm saying it out loud was very wrong for me to do because it's not proper to go through someone's bag without their consent…” I continued running off with my mouth and I didn't notice him walk towards me until he was right in front of me.“It's okay,” he said, smiling a little bit despite the situation.Cutting myself short because I didn't hear him the first time “what?” I said.“I said…” he took a piece of my hair that was falling on my eyes and put it behind my ear “it's okay” he said.I was stunned. It felt like a thousan
After Alpha Christian left me, I took it upon myself to find the nearest computer to do some research on witches and grimoires. Before today I had never met one personally, it seems I had a lot to learn if I wanted to keep my guard up against stuff like that. Also, I thought the only enemy against our kind was rival packs, silver bullets and bloodsuckers. I've been introduced to witches and I don't like the feeling of helplessness that comes with it.After checking every room I could enter save for the ones that were locked I couldn't find even one computer in sight. They weren't kidding when they said this was a safehouse and nothing more. It might have beautiful interior decoration but it was quite empty.I miss my friends. If I had my phone I would've sent a text or something to Riley but even then I know I couldn't reach her.The thought alone made me sad but I willed myself to focus on the task at hand. When I entered a room that I thought would be my last before I gave up, I sa
I was in a dream. And in that dream, everything was white. A straight white room with nothing in it but me.I tried to scream but my voice wasn't coming out of my mouth. It was a struggle and it felt like I was trying to claw my way out of my body. This had to be a form of torture where they forced you to enter a dream state then make you go crazy by stealing your voice. Then suddenly, I turned around and a wolf I had never seen before started circling me. It kept looking at me with blue green eyes that were a contrast of mine.I noticed it had silver like white fur which was very rare. It had a lightning streak at the side of its body.Walking around and around me like a predator hunting and stalking its prey. I took on a defensive stance, ready for when it pounced. But the wolf looked at me for a few more seconds and opened its mouth to speak. The voice I heard speaking shocked me so much that I didn't hear what she said the first time.“It's time to wake up, Your Highness,” the wol
We were in a very open position on the road. In front of us two cars were positioned to block us.And behind they were cars blocking our exit too. I was on the verge of combursting with how intense the whole situation was.“Oh no” I said, from my side of the car.I looked to Christian to assess the kind of damage we were in. I dare not speak to him right now when the only expression on his face was concerntration. In front of us one of the guards from earlier came down from the car, walked a few feet from it and just stood there. While this was happening, I noticed the men in the driver's seat and passenger seat were eerily quiet too. What were these dangerous people planning exactly? And why were we being targeted over and over again?I was getting fed up of being attacked and captured and tortured by foreign enemies I knew nada about. It was time we fought back.During my internal monologue, I hadn't noticed that Christian had taken off his jacket and unbuttoned the shirt he was wea
The terrifying sound of my blood coddling scream traveled from the very car I was in to Christian's ear in a matter of seconds. He turned around startled by the sound but alert to the danger of it.When he saw that someone had managed to burst through the car window and was reaching for the handle, he started towards the car.Two men tried to block his part but he easily took them down. On reaching the car he noticed the man had succeeded in opening the car and was reaching for me.“Let me go you…” I said firmly, but you could hear the fear in my voice. The man still tried to grab her leg as I was trying and failing to kick him away.He clamped on my leg with a vice grip so my efforts in trying to push him away were in vain.Suddenly, I felt an instant release in the spot where he was holding me and the man in question was nowhere to be found. It was eerily quiet as I slowly moved to the door and opened it. Christian was walking menacingly towards me. I just stood there awkwardly, won
The lake house was perfect and I could boldly say I loved it here. For someone who hadn't traveled a lot I've been to more places than I imagined these past few days even with the things that were occuring.Sighing heavily, I took in the scenery in front of me. Yes I enjoyed it here but I wasn't at peace. Not entirely.I was so worried about Riley. I endured the horrors of that place for a few days but I could just imagine how horrible it will be now knowing they lost their prized possession.Derek and his crazy sister. I shuddered at the thought of them. I had heard stories but this by far took the cake. I waited patiently for news of the captives they had managed to free but Christian keeps reminding me to be patient.“They are risking their lives and they have to be extra careful because of it. If they get caught now that they've managed to escape there's no telling exactly what that mad man would do to them” he had said.He was being sympathetic and I was grateful for that but I
I looked at Riley in surprise, things had started to get scary in familiar territory and I wasn't feeling really safe anymore.I remembered what Riley told me just this morning about the weird things going on in the pack.“We just want to see Alpha Christian, there's no need to throw names at her,” Riley said to the guard. She was very irritated at the behavior but was restraining herself, so was I to be very honest.A lot had changed since we had gotten captured by Derek and his men. The time away had caused the pack’s mentality to change. Most of them at least, I hoped that a few still had their common sense amongst them.“This is absurd. I'm a proud member of this pack!” I exclaimed in defiance when he stubbornly stood in our way.He scoffed, “You're really testing my patience right now, do as I say and turn around before I do something nasty” he growled.I flinched back in disgust, his face had turned ugly. Any single ounce of patience I had left evaporated at the sight of it.“We
“What?” I all but yelled at her. Several people turned to look at me with judgement on their faces but I didn't really care.Riley tried to shush me but I wasn't having it right now.“Please tell me you're joking” I said pleadingly.Even as I said it, I knew it wasn't a joke. This was really happening before my very eyes.“I'm not joking. I don't know what the reason is but he refused to tell anyone you're his mate” she said, whispering the last part.I stayed silent, I knew exactly why he hadn't said anything to anyone. But now it was putting us into trouble.“Why would they give him that kind of ultimatum though? What is going on?” I asked incredulously.I shook my head wildly looking from left to right. Something wasn't right. First they made him a rogue, now he's back they're making him be with someone that is not his mate.“They said…. And it's very ridiculous…if he hasn't found a mate, he has to choose someone and make them Luna” she said exasperated.I was stunned, I tried to t
“No, that's nonsense!” I said, my eyes flashing with anger. What in the hell did she mean by punishing? And I wasn't born from a human. This was definitely nonsense.“They're wrong” I shouted, turning back to walk back towards my house.I wasn't hearing any of this nonsense anymore, but she stopped me.“Hey! Don't just storm out, I– I am just trying to help you, don't go” she said forcing me to halt in my tracks.I sighed heavily, she was right. I didn't mean to be rude to her, it just came out of nowhere. It hurt me deeply to hear that about my dad. They were wrong. They had to be wrong. If they were right then why wouldn't he tell me?“Look” she said, trying to steer me to a tree where we could sit for a while.“We can't know for sure if these rumors are true or false,” she said, shaking her head at me.“I'm sorry I shouted at you” I said solemnly, looking down at my feet.I heard her chuckling, but she didn't say anything immediately.“Why don't you just ask him? It's time you knew
My father had tried to distract me throughout our meal, bringing up conversation after conversation of what happened during the time we were hiding.I had entertained him up until I noticed he was finding it hard to breathe as he talked. This bothered me a lot. I wanted to know how serious his health issues are.I wanted to know why he was also keeping it from me, it's not like I wouldn't find out eventually.I didn't know how to go about the conversation and it was beginning to feel like a burden on my chest.“Dad,” I said suddenly, cutting him off as he spoke. He looked at me sharply, probably noticing the change in my countenance.“Are you going to tell me what's wrong with me? Do I have to beg? Tell me, please. I'm sure I can help” I said pleadingly. He looked at me with eyes filled with sorrow. His lips quivering a bit as he continued staring at me.But just like that the look was gone and he was back to his cheery self.“You don't worry about this old man. I will be good before
I ran towards him hurriedly, almost tripping on myself in the process. The minute I came in contact with him I felt tears that had been bottled up for the longest time spill out immediately.I missed him so much, just the thought that I wasn't going to be stuck in some house or cellar for the longest time gave me cause to squeeze him even more.“Oh dad” I said, crying on his shoulder like a pup that had been ripped from his mother's breasts.“My baby. Oh Celeste. I thought I had lost you forever” he said, gently patting my back over and over again.Fresh tears threatened to pour out at the sound of that but I maintained my cool. Coughing, I let go of him slightly and just looked at him.He seemed to have aged a lot since the last time I saw him. His weight had greatly reduced and he had worry lines on his face.I frowned, taking in his composure and stance to detect any signs of illness or maybe it was just fatigued.“Dad?...” I began to say but he waved me off and just took my hand.
I had mixed feelings about leaving the lake house. I was going to miss it dearly.I thought about asking Christian if we would be able to come back here once we were settled but I changed my mind.Assuming we would be together when all was said and done was scary. I hadn't thought that far.As for Riley, I know she was eavesdropping on our conversation yesterday and I also knew that she had a lot to say.But for some reason she was awfully quiet. It was both endearing and scary at the same time.On one hand I knew she just wanted me to think things through but on the other, she would've been buggering me to spill by now.I chalked it up to the fact that we were going back home and she was probably processing now.As for Christian, the last time we spoke about him leaving the pack, he said he was a rogue.Would things still be the same now that he was going back. I had this ever present feeling at the back of my mind.I didn't know what to make of it and that scared me a little. I just
We jumped apart at the sound of the knock at the door.I coughed into my elbow and she awkwardly went to the door.Reluctantly, she opened the door to answer whoever was there. With surprise on her face, she stepped to let the person in.Lo and behold, it was the same person we had been talking about that stepped into the room.Immediately I saw him I froze up like a deer caught in headlights. What was he doing in my room at this very moment? Wait! Has he been standing at the other side of the door listening in to our conversations all this time?Oh my days! I was as red as a cherry right now. This is so embarrassing. Okay, the best thing I could do for both of us was to pretend like I don't know what he's talking about. If he brings it up, I hope he doesn't bring it up.“Um, hi– hello. How can I–we help you?” I asked, behind him I saw Riley facepalming at my obvious discomfort.Yeah I was sweating buckets and I didn't know how to make it stop.“I just came to check up on you. So how
I was trying my possible best to not laugh at Riley's reaction. I mean she basically bugged me to tell her the reason and when I did, this was her reaction? She was currently looking at me like I had grown two heads, and I was curious to see if her eyes would stay in their sockets after all.She was shocked and so was I. But I had had enough time to process everything and honestly I had everything under wraps. The same could not be said for Riley, but I was glad. Oh I was feeling exulted. I had gotten everything off my chest, well not everything but she didn't have to know that. For the most part she knew all the details and now I could probably wrap my head around the whole thing.“How–are you sure he wanted to mark you?” She whispered fearfully.I nodded frantically and sat down next to her sighing heavily.“I cannot believe it” she said, with a far away look on her face.“Yeah, I felt his teeth grazing me over and over again like he was tasting me first, you know?” I said enthusias
“Ahhhhh”That was the sound of me attacking my best friend so that she would not embarrass more than she already had.“Celeste get off of me!” She said trying and succeeding to get me off her body.“I will if you would just stop walking towards the door and come with me” I hissed sharply.I dusted the non-existent stint from her clothes and proceeded to ignore me and continue her walk towards his office.“Why are you doing this??” I exclaimed, frustrated and out of breath.“You're keeping things from me and truthfully it sucks. But I will get answers even if it means I'll have to find them from someone else” she gestured towards the door we were currently headed to.“No– you– just stop, okay I told you I was being honest” I said, panicking at this point.Curse my small legs, I couldn't keep up with her as she was walking really fast at this point.“No no, I believe you. I just need extra information from the last person that saw you yesterday” she pointedly.Okay she was just pushing
