"Alvin, what are you doing here?" Patricia asked in surprise that evening, her brows furrowed as she sat at the edge of her bed.

After the sumptuous dinner that Mang Lope had thoughtfully prepared for them, Patricia had taken the time to indulge in a warm, soothing bath. The water had felt like silk against her skin, easing the day’s weariness, and now she was ready to slip into the comforting embrace of sleep.
