"How do you feel about leaving the hospital?" Austin asked as he helped me put on my jacket

"Really fucking good, it was suffocating staying here, staring at this white walls every day was annoying" I said as I fixed the jacket making sure I was careful with my stitches

"Well you're leaving today so you will never see them again" Austin said

"Amen too that" I said and a few seconds later Shane walked Into the room without Sophie, which made me wonder where she was?

"Buddy, where is Sophia?" I asked

"With some guy In the reception, she told me to go but I didn't want to leave her because she didn't look nervous but she told me it was okay" Shane signed, he looked really worried which made Austin and I exchanged wary glances

"Buddy can you take us to where you left her?" I asked and he nodded as we all left the room as we headed for the reception

On getting to the reception, I spotted Sophia immediately and she looked like she was about to lose it.

As I stared at the the person she

"Have you watched it?" I asked as i stared at Austin "Nope, I haven't watched it yet, I wanted us to do it together, and also, i was too worked up to watch it after what they said"Let's go outside so we can have some privacy because if it's as graphic as you said, we can't let Shane walk in on us while we are watching it." I said as Austin nodded, and we both left the house and sat in front of the house door"You ready?" Austin asked, "yeah and there is no audio so we can't hear what they are saying and the film isn't that clear so we can't really make out the faces but they are sure it's a video about Athena because that was the only accident at school that day""Okay you can play it" I said, Austin nodded and played the video, as it started we playing we saw a small petite figure coming out of the rooftop door, and I knew it was Athena immediately, she looked around for a bit then turned back to go back when she stopped and three other larger figure came out of the shadows From h

I'm currently sitting in my room wondering if I should listen to Leo or not. I don't want to go to school. So why is he insisting I go? He and Austin don't get to go to school, so why can't I stay until Athena wakes up too.I know he cares, but he should stop treating me like a kid, I haven't been one for a long time, thanks to 'Daddy Dearest'. If I don't go down, he is definitely going to come up here and give me an ear full, so it's best I just get ready. I could just tell my teachers I'm sick and need to go to the infirmary where I could hide till the end of the day.As I was about to get off my bed, a knock came from the door, thinking it was Leo. I ignored it, but the knocking didn't stop, so I went to see who it was. When I opened the door, I saw Austin on the other side, a small smile on his face "Hey, kiddo," he greeted with a wave"What are you doing here? Did Leo send you?" I signed as a sigh left his lips, "Yes and No," Austin said, which confused me"Which one is

"I-," Leo said, but he had no response to what Shane had just confessed. He let out a frustrated sigh, running his hands through his hair as his gaze moved back to Shane, who looked like he was about to cry."Shane, it was stupid of me to think you were fine after what happened. I should have been more considerate of your feelings. You act so tough sometimes that I forget you're still a kid. I'm very sorry," Leo said as Shane stared at him for a moment before letting out an inaudible sigh."Sometimes you make it hard to stay mad at you, and yes, I should have said something, but everyone was going through so much shit.""Language!" Leo warned."Seriously?" Shane signed, amusement evident in his eyes."You don't get to curse; you're still very young," Leo said, causing a smile to break out on Shane's face."I'm going to ignore you now," Shane signed. "Where was I? Yes, everyone was going through so much that I didn't want to burden all of us with my problems.""I get that," Leo replied

"Now that everyone is settled, let's get back to the lesson," Mr. Jack said. He took out a textbook and placed it on the table in front of him. "Take out your textbooks and open to page 23."Everyone followed the instructions, but Xavier didn't. He stared back at Mr. Jack with an uninterested look. I wasn't the only one who noticed; Mr. Jack also noticed that Xavier was the only one without a textbook."Where is your textbook, Mr. Martin?" Mr. Jack asked."I don't got one," Xavier answered, and a frown formed on Mr. Jack's face."Why is he talking like that?" one of the other kids said as they laughed at Xavier, which made a frown form on his face."Are you even ready to learn? Weren't you given your required textbooks after payment of your school fees?" Mr. Jack asked, staring at him with a look of disdain."We don't got money to buy books," Xavier said, his anger evident in his tone."Use proper English when speaking to me, boy," Mr. Jack said, glaring at Xavier. "Freaks eating together, how cute," Zack's annoying voice echoed in the room as he approached. Okay, before I wanted to ignore him, but now he's getting on my nerves. Doesn't he have anything better to do than follow us around and call us names?"What do you want, Zack? If you keep showing up around us, it's going to make people think you actually like our company," Summer joked as Zack glared at her."I would never hang out with you guys, even if you were the last people on earth. I'd rather die," Zack said as his buddies chuckled behind him."Your loss, we're awesome," Summer said as she popped a piece of fries into her mouth, a small smile forming on her face."Shut up, freak. Everyone knows what really happened to you, so you shouldn't brag too much," Zack said as Summer's face immediately turned angry. And I knew I had to intervene immediately"Zack, if you don't want me to knock your teeth out, it's best you walk away because you're playing with fire," I wrote in a book and showe

"Hey kiddo, how was school today?" Leo said as we both got out of the car and walked towards Shane. I noticed he had someone other than Summer by his side, which made me curious about who the little kid was because he looked like someone I'd met before and I haven't seen him around here before. When I reached Shane, I ruffled his hair while he tried to get away from me, but it was no use. After struggling for a few minutes, I let him go, and he pulled away from me. He glared at me while fixing his hair, then proceeded to give Leo an answer to his question. "It was cool, I guess, except for the parts Zack tried to pick on us, but we handled it," Shane signed as Leo and I gave him a concerned look."That little twat still hasn't learned his lesson after the last time. Do we need to speak to anyone, like the principal again?" Leo asked as his gaze moved to Shane before falling on the kid beside him. He didn't say anything, but I'm sure he was waiting for Shane to introduce him without ac

"Okay, then," Xavier shrugged as he shifted his gaze from his meal to Austin and me before continuing, "my parents aren't around much, which I'm thankful for because they suck. So, it's just me and my sister Riley. She's the best; she's been homeschooling me for a while now, but because of work, she had to enroll me in school. Luckily, I got a scholarship, so we don't have to pay.""Well, Xavier, it's nice to meet you. If you need anything, you can always tell Shane to inform me, and I will see what we can do to help," I said."I don't want to be rude, but I don't need your pity," Xavier said, a small frown forming on his face."Trust me, we know you don't need our pity because we were all in your position at one point in life, but everyone needs help once in a while. So, if that time comes, we will be here for you," Austin explained. Xavier looked skeptical, but he didn't say anything else and continued eating his burger."Now that it's cleared up, don't you want to know anything abo

As I hurried out of Athena's room, I went in search of Stephen. Upon reaching the reception, I asked the lady stationed there, "Please, do you by chance know where Dr. Stephen is? It's urgent I know where he is.""Oh no, I don't know where he is right now, dear. What's going on? Did something happen to Athena?" she asked, her tone worried, her concerned gaze focused on me."No, it's Sophia. She just started complaining of side pains, so we need Dr. Stephen to take a look at her. Maybe he can tell us what's wrong," I said, my breathing labored as I tried to catch my breath."First, take a breath, dear. Let me see if I can help," the lady said, then she looked through some files before her gaze moved back to me. "Try the Orthopedic department; he might be there. But I'm not 100% certain he is there.""Thank you, I will try my luck anyway," I said as I got to my feet and went straight to the Orthopedic department. I knew where it was because my father dearest gave me a few broken bones,

After a moment of silence, Silas spoke. "I just want to get to know him before it’s too late. I won’t justify my actions by saying I really didn’t know he existed because his mother never told me about him," he answered, a small smile forming on his face."What do you mean by 'before it’s too late?'" I asked, curious about his statement. Was something wrong? Was he leaving?"I have cancer, and I'm not responding to treatment. Like I said, I wasn't a good man, and it cost me everything, so I’m using the little time I have left to atone for my sins," Silas said, a pained smile tugging at his lips as the table fell silent again."I'm sorry you're sick, but if you hurt that boy again, the cancer won’t be what kills you—I will," Sophia threatened, and it was clear she meant what she had just said."I will keep that in mind, but I swear on my life, I won’t hurt Austin on purpose. Her anger shifted to shock as she stared at me. Does this dumb bitch think I'm bluffing? "Five, four, three—by the time I finish counting, if you're still here, I will slap you again, Lisa.""You wouldn't dare. My father's a policeman; he'll have you and your pathetic group thrown in jail," Lisa threatened, clearly expecting me to back down. But she was so wrong.Without a word, I slapped her again, harder this time. Morning came sooner than I expected. The soft light filtered through the hospital room's curtains, and I woke up feeling slightly refreshed. There was a knock on the door, and a nurse entered with a cheerful smile, bringing my breakfast and some containers that held medication that I assumed were mine. "Good morning, Athena. How are you feeling today?" she asked, placing the tray on the table beside me. She then took out an infrared thermometer and held it a few centimetres from my head to check my temperature. Once she had it, she moved on to check my pulse, jotting down each piece of information as she took it. "I'm feeling better, thank you," I replied, sitting up and taking the tray. The smell of the food reminded me how hungry I was. Even though it was hospital food and might not taste as good as what I usually ate, I still wanted some. "That's good to hear. After eating, make sure to take your medication. I will be back later to take the tray and check on you," she said war
