Chapter 5: Awaken Werewolf

He transfixed for some time before moving forward and took what caught his fancy inside the freezer.

He left it open, and saw a cup at the dining table, he strode over and stared at it blankly.

Cross took it, and returned to his seat, he sat down and reclined on the chair, and he shook the juice.

“What kind of wine is this?” he mumbled, and shook his head, he twisted it several angles, before opening it, and pouring himself a drink.

He sat calmly and started sipping from the cup leisurely, Katie stirred and grumbled, she woke up, and her eyes widened in shock when she saw the stranger that she took in sitting down leisurely, and sipping juice.

She gasped when he saw her late father's favourite tea cup in his hand, she stood on her feet and snatched it from him 

“Hey, not this one,” she said and kept the tea cup away after disposing of the juice.

“Why are you naked?” she grumbled, and threw a duvet at him, she webbed her hair with her palm in frustration.

A knock came at the door “don't move” she signalled to him before walking to the door, she opened it slightly and peaked.

“Child, are you alright? I heard a wolf howl?” Granny Fray told her, Katie looked at her confused.

“That will be from the backyard, you know, there are many wolves in the wounds” she replied.

Granny Fray nodded “just be careful child” she cautioned Katie who nodded her head several times in agreement.

She bade Granny Fray goodbye, and turned, only, to see the man still sitting calmly on the chair without moving a muscle.

She stomped her feet, and stood before him with arms akimbo, “so, who are you?” she inquired.

A knock disrupted the moment, “ah! Who is it again?” she grumbled, and went to get the door, she opened it and saw Chloe's angry face glaring at her.

She shoved Chloe and shut the door behind her, “Katie Clyde” Chloe shouted at her with all her strength.

A deafening ear-wrenching scream made Katie's ears tingle, she covered her ears with her palms and crunched her eyebrows, “Chloe, what was that for? Ouch! My eardrums” she whined.

“Good for you!” Chloe smirked and maintained her angry demeanour “Katie, you will be the death of me, I was so close, very close, to getting my crush…”

Katie interjected “sorry, I thought you have numerous crushes, I mean crushes if put in plural” 

Chloe's frown deepened “I mean the one at the top of the list, Brien, you just messed up everything, you are such a terrible friend” she complained bitterly.

Katie didn't know how she messed up Chloe's plans of getting hooked with another of her crushes, she gave her an askance look

 “Chloe, how did innocent me, mess up your plan while we are thousands of miles from each other?” she asked, curiously wondering how plausible could that be.

Chloe stomped her feet angrily, and pointed a finger at her, “of course you did!”

Katie shook her head in pity and slumped her shoulders, “I hereby declare the accused, guilty” she mimicked a judge she saw on a TV screen.

Her phone started ringing, she brought it out, and her eyes widened when saw the series of familiar numbers, the moment she picked up the call, a voice roared “Katie Clyde, where the fuck are you?” 

“On my way” she responded, and quickly ended the call, she pulled Chloe away and started talking relentlessly 

“Chloe, you just made me go late, and I will appreciate it if you will be a good friend, and go home, we will see maybe, weekend, or tomorrow, whenever”

She let go of her arms, and ran inside, Chloe watched in a daze “is Katie going insane?” she mumbled.

Katie barged inside the room and exhaled in relief when she saw that the man she took in sat calmly.

She ran inside her bedroom and picked up her identity card, and her company pass, she came out, and ran out of the house, moving frantically without caution.

“Oh- my God!” she exclaimed and re-entered the house, she stared at the stranger she took in, and saw that he hasn't eaten anything.

“I know you are hungry, let us get you what to eat,” she said, without waiting for him, she went into the kitchen, microwaved some food, and served him.

“don't move” she warned him again, before running off, Chloe stuck around even when “Katie!” she called out to her friend.

“I am late Chloe” Katie reposted, and got into her trunk “don't misbehave, don't misbehave” she stuttered and twitched the key with her eyes shut tightly.

The engine roared to life, and she opened her eyes filled with a sea of stars and smiled smugly, “aham!” she exclaimed excitedly.

Katie Clyde parked her trunk and came down, right at the company parking lot, her old trunk looking oddly improper.

She ran inside the company, and frowned when she saw the manager on duty, he didn't give Katie any breather, before yelling “Katie Clyde, you are twenty minutes, fifteen seconds late; therefore, I am deducting it from your paycheck” he spoke with a tone of finality.

Katie lowered her head looking pitiful and swapped an imaginary tear, “Sir”

“Another five seconds late” he added more numbers, Katie Clyde's eyes widened in shock “what the fuck!” she cursed, and ran into the changing room.

“Manager Duke, what a cone-headed bastard” she scolded him viciously.

Another worker who just signed and she was also changing into the routine uniform overheard her, “Katie, what is the matter?”

Katie became flustered “Ah, nothing, nothing” she explained with exasperation, and scurried away.

Her colleague stared at her and shook her head, “what a pity” she commented, and left.

Katie changed and came out, wearing the helmet “your first order, Katie Clyde, don't delay, your time starts now” the man warned ruthlessly, and pointed to a package.

Katie resisted the urge to roll her eyes and grabbed the package, got on her assigned bike, and rode off with her electric bike.
