Chapter 6

Renee's POV

I had a lot of questions to ask my parents and things to tell them. I was in my room, currently in my own world, thinking about what had happened since this morning. I was doing my homework, but I couldn't say, "Renee! Dinner is ready!" My mother yelled from downstairs. I sighed and pushed my homework aside. I'll have to do that later.

I got downstairs and headed into the kitchen.

I saw my dad reading a magazine while mom was getting the table ready.

"Dad, I thought you were coming home late today." I told him and sat on a chair. He looked at me and put the magazine down.

"I did too, but Samuel said he'd be taking my shift today." He answered and stretched his arms. "I'm so tired!" He grumbled. I rolled my eyes at him.

Samuel is my dad's best friend. He and his wife took part in taking care of me when

I was a little kid, and with that, they were like my second parents. But unfortunately, I haven't been in contact with them since then.
