EDMOND'S POV.

I stood with my back to the door, my hands clasped behind me, as I faced the window.

The fresh air gently caressed my face, and I sighed in contentment, savoring the moment of tranquility.

My gaze was fixed on the ground far below, the scenery seeming distant and blurred as I lost myself in thought.

Suddenly, loud noises erupted from behind the door, jolting me from my reverie. A frown settled on my face, my curiosity piqued.

What could the maids be up to now? Their commotion was unusual and unwelcome.

The door swung open, and Camilla’s face appeared, her expression far from pleased.

The displeasure etched on her features only deepened as she stepped into the room, her demeanor growing increasingly agitated.

“You sneaky old liar!” she burst out, her voice sharp and accusing. Her words took me by surprise, and I turned to face her, confusion etched on my face.

“What’s wrong, Camilla? Why are you here?” I asked, my tone more curious than concerned.

DANE'S POV.It had been six weeks since the full moon, two weeks since our heated argument, and six weeks since we last addressed the growing distance between us. I was unsure of how to behave or what to hope for, but it seemed I had reached my limit. She nestled even closer against me, and I couldn't help but smile as I watched her gradually wake up, a soft yawn escaping her lips.“Good morning, my love,” I greeted her gently, my voice filled with warmth. She responded with a faint smile, her eyes still heavy with sleep, and instinctively drew even nearer to me.I cherished these moments deeply; times when our world seemed to shrink to just the two of us, and all our worries faded away. I wished for nothing more than to hold onto these serene, intimate moments forever, where the only thing that mattered was being wrapped in each other's embrace. This was my sole desire, and it was enough to fill my heart.“What?” she asked, her laughter bubbling up as she noticed my unwavering gaze

ASTRID'S POV.“Seems good enough; you can leave now,” I instructed the maid who had assisted with preparing breakfast. She gave a polite nod and exited the room, her soft footsteps fading down the hallway.I began arranging the breakfast, carefully dishing out my portion as well as Dane’s. Once the plates were ready, I moved over to the dining table, ensuring everything was in its place: the jugs of juice and coffee, the cups, cutlery, and neatly folded napkins. Each item was set with precision, creating an inviting breakfast setting. After making sure everything was perfectly arranged, I took a final, satisfied look at the table. The meal was prepared, and now all that was left was to call Dane and enjoy our breakfast together. As I started up the stairs to find him, I noticed someone standing midway up by the entrance. It was a male figure with his back turned to me. I could see through the open doorway that Ivar was present, his posture unusually tense. But it was Dane’s deep f

DANE'S POVThe frown on my face deepened as I cut into the bacon on my plate with growing irritation. My appetite had vanished entirely when Ethan arrived, requested his own meal, and settled into a chair at the table.Initially, I had tried to hold back my frustration, not wanting to seem like an overly jealous and insecure mate. I didn't want to come across as too controlling or possessive, so I made an effort to stay composed. However, my patience was wearing thin.I could no longer ignore how Ethan’s frequent glances at Astrid were affecting me. She was engrossed in her meal, unaware of the way my brother’s eyes kept drifting toward her. Despite the clear and firm warning I had given him to stay away and my reminder that she was my mate, Ethan showed no respect. His unashamed, lingering looks in her direction were increasingly upsetting. This persistent behaviour was making me feel a level of irritation and discomfort that I had never experienced before. It was becoming harder

ASTRID'S POV.Slowly, I pushed myself up from the warm, fluffy fabric that had cradled me in a place of comfort. My eyes fluttered open, and I took a moment to adjust to the bright overhead lights. As I glanced around the room, a wave of confusion washed over me. I was in the hospital once again, in the same sterile room I had occupied just two weeks ago. But how did I end up back here? Why was I here? And when did it all happen? The familiar sounds of beeping machines and distant voices floated around me, grounding me in reality. I shifted slightly, the softness of the blanket brushing against my skin, reminding me of the vulnerability I felt in this place. My mind raced as I tried to piece together the fragments of my memory. The last thing I remembered was the tension that had hung thick in the air as Ethan and Dane argued. Their voices had risen, sharp and angry, each of them refusing to let go of my arm, their grip a mix of desperation and determination. I could still feel t

The words hung in the air between us like a dark cloud, and I could see the confusion washing over Dane’s face. His brows furrowed, and his lips parted slightly, but no words came out. He just stared at me, trying to process what I had just revealed. For a moment, we stood frozen in the silence, locked in each other’s gaze. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, each beat louder than the last. My mind raced, wondering what he was thinking. Did he understand? Was he angry? Hurt? His expression gave nothing away, and the longer the silence stretched, the more anxious I became.“You have to talk to me, Astrid,” Dane finally said, breaking the silence. His voice was calm, but there was an edge of desperation in it. “What exactly is going on? I need to kn

Halfdan's POV.I stood on the balcony, hands behind my back, staring up at the sky. I had felt off all night, but something about being out here shifted my mood. A small smile formed on my lips as I gazed at the red sky. It wasn't the death of an alpha; I would’ve been invited if that were the case. No, this meant something else—a moon healer had been born. How fortunate their parents were. A child with such a rare gift was both a blessing and a burden. The entire world would come for them, and I would have to protect that child. It was my duty. But deep down, I wished I’d been given that choice, to have a child of my own to protect. I wanted it so badly, and I would die for my child if it came to that. But not everything in life goes the way we want it to.A sharp knock at the door snapped me out of my thoughts, and I turned my head toward the sound.“Alpha Halfdan!” Drake shouted as he burst onto the balcony, panting heavily.“What is it now, Drake?” I asked, rolling my eyes. DANE'S POV"Camilla," I called out, my voice firm. She didn’t even flinch, her cold, hard glare fixed on Astrid. Astrid, who looked exhausted and fragile. She had just given birth. She needed rest, not this. She shouldn’t be standing here, facing Camilla. All I could think was, ‘Have I ever done anything right?’ Ever since she came into my life, all I’d done was cause her pain and worry. And now I had a son too. I couldn’t let this cruel fate fall on them both. They deserved peace— ‘they deserved better than me.’Camilla took a step forward, her lips curling into a cruel smile. Her eyes locked onto the baby. My son. I stepped in front of Astrid, blocking her view."I’m going to need the child," Camilla said, her voice dripping with malice. The smirk on her face widened, her eyes glowing with hatred. My jaw tightened, my body tense. "What makes you think I’ll give you my son?" I growled, glaring at her. But my words only made her smile bigger. She looked back at me with the same ch

To make things worse, she misunderstood something I said, thinking I would hurt our child. What did she think of me?That night, after I apologised again and again, she ran off. People walked past me, ignoring my pleas. No one knew who I was, and they didn’t care. I was invisible.“See where avoiding me got you?” Ethan’s voice came from behind me. I turned, and for the first time in my life, I was relieved to hear him.“Let’s get you somewhere safe,” he said, grabbing my arm and guiding me toward his car. I didn’t fight him. I couldn’t. It was getting dark outside, and I had no idea how long I’d been asleep. Where was Dane?I stretched and got out of bed, glancing around. The room felt empty. Dane should’ve been here by now.
