Astrid's POV.

“She's just a pawn to me!” The words rang out from Alpha Dane's study room, which instantly sent shivers running down my spine.

If there was anything that I wasn't expecting, it was definitely the part of him announcing that I was his pawn.

Here I was, beginning to think and believe that he was beginning to fall for me, not knowing he still had the thoughts of using me to his own advantage.

My fist clenched, and immediately, the tears in my eyes began to dry up. The pent-up anger that boiled and raged within me left no room for weakness.

Sniffling and trying to control my intense urge for him, I turned on my heels and headed back to my room at full speed.

I didn't bother turning around or looking back to know if Alpha Dane had left his study and found me; my focus was just getting to my room.
