ANNA
Four years later.
"I would love to follow you to work, Mum," Andy murmured, wrapping his little hands around my legs. His lips were pouted as he stared up at me while I transferred his meal into his lunch box.
I let a cheerful smile beautify my face. "Don't say that, okay? You have to go to school and don't worry, I will make arrangements to change your school, okay?" I reassured him as I bent down to his height level. He nodded his head.
"But promise me that you will tell me who my dad is if I should go to school today?" he said, and my smile began to fade. The warmth in my eyes dimmed, replaced with a cold gaze. Not today. Why does he always bring that up?
I can't tell him that; over my dead body will that happen. I would rather lose my wolf than tell him his father's name, let alone take him there.
"Daddy Mike is here!" Mandy, my daughter, yelled as I turned to look in that direction. I saw her running towards him, almost falling as she hugged him.
Seeing him brought a smile to my face and brightened me up.
It has been eight years since I left Moon Rose Pack. I returned to the orphanage where I was raised, and there I met a very kind old woman who sympathized with me after hearing my story. She took me into her home and provided me with a place to stay.
I entered the human city of New York and pursued a medical degree at the university. I graduated with a Ph.D. in medicine and surgery.
During my time at the university, I met a man named Mike. He was the person who saved my youngest child, Sandy, from attempting to shift at a very young age. It was abnormal for a child to experience such a thing, and it happened two years ago, the day we discovered that
werewolves existed.
I had tried to hide the fact that we were werewolves, as I wanted to avoid questions about their father and the challenges they might face in a human school. However, it proved impossible to
keep it from them. They were intelligent enough to research wolves on the internet and also asked Mike about it.
I stood up and walked towards him. He greeted me with his charming smile, revealing his deep dimples, as he wrapped his hands around my waist and I wrapped mine around his neck.
"Good morning, love," he said, gently kissing my cheek.
"I thought you wouldn't come today since you stayed at the hospital throughout the night," I said, acknowledging his presence.
"My kids will be late for school, and you have an important surgery today, right?" he asked, to which I nodded. He was the Alpha of the Red Crescent Pack and also the owner of the
renowned Red Crescent Hospital in New York City. Humans were unaware that the hospital's name originated from his pack, as they knew nothing about the existence of werewolves.
He was incredibly kind and lovable. We started dating two years ago, and he trained me well when I joined his team at Red Crescent Hospital. Through his guidance, I became a successful and well-known surgeon in the city.
Now, I live in a mansion with my adorable triplets. Although I never forgot the help of the kind old woman who took me in, she sadly passed away due to cancer.
"As much as I like Daddy Mike, I can never see him as my daddy," Andy, the stubborn one among my children, declared all of a sudden. I noticed Mike's happy face change to a sad expression as he slightly lowered his head.
It angered me, and I tried to scold Andy, but Mike held me back. "No, let him be. Don't scold your children, okay? I understand," he said, comforting me.
"Go and apologize to Daddy Mike now!" Sandy, my youngest daughter, insisted, while Mandy nodded in agreement and tried to pull Andy towards Mike's side.
I gently removed his hands from mine and went to Andy's side since he wasn't complying with his sisters. His adamant stance about his father annoyed me, and it broke my heart to see that he didn't appreciate Mike's kindness.
Taking a deep breath, I knelt so I wouldn't come across as harsh. "Look at me," I pleaded, placing my hand on his jaw and turning his face towards mine.
"Please, dear, I raised you to know how to respect your elders and treat people kindly. What you just said isn't fair. It not only hurt him, but it hurt me as your mother," I whispered. Andy kept his head down, his forehead furrowed.
I was about to say more when he abruptly left me and ran to his place, kneeling. I was taken aback and stood up, unsure of what was happening.
"Please forgive me, Mike," Andy murmured, his head still lowered. Mike smiled and lifted him, holding him with one hand as if he were still a two-year-old child.
Mandy and Sandy ran towards them, holding hands. The two girls were closer to Mike compared to Andy, the only boy among them.
They turned to wave goodbye to me, and I waved back. Mike blew me a flying kiss before they all zoomed off together. At least I wouldn't be late for my surgery, and I had my car.
I picked up my bag and walked out of the house. My car was parked outside the gate since it was undergoing repairs. I strode towards the gate, opened my Lamborghini, got inside, and zoomed off.
**********************************************
It was already late at night, and I had finished my work for the day. Thank the Moon Goddess that all the surgeries went well. I felt exhausted and stretched out my body to relieve some
tension.
As I stood up from my seat and grabbed my bag, ready to leave my office, I made my way to the counter and signed the paper indicating that I had completed my work for the day. I was eager to go home and rest.
However, just as I was about to open my car door, a hand abruptly stopped me. I furrowed my brow, my tiredness evident on my face, as I turned to face the unexpected interruption. Two men stood before me, appearing quite formidable.
"And how may I help you?" I asked, staring at them, perplexed. They handed me a letter, and I hesitated before taking it from their hands. I wondered what it could be as I opened the letter.
Before I could even finish reading it, they summarized its contents for me. "Alpha Alfred orders you to come back to his pack."
As I stared at the letter, the words spoken by one of the men lingered in my mind. I clenched my fists, feeling a surge of anger, and tore the paper into tiny pieces, throwing them at them.
"Well, tell your Alpha that I, Anna, won't even set foot in his pack," I bellowed, my voice filled with defiance. They exchanged glances and let out sighs.
"He seriously needs your help, and..."
"Even if every member of his pack is on the brink of death, I will not come. Do you understand?" I yelled the words emanating from the depths of my being. The audacity of Alfred to think he
could order me back into his pack after everything he had done to me.
I didn't know whom they were speaking to on the phone just now, but they started advancing towards me, causing fear to well up within me. I instinctively took a step back, my heart
pounding in my chest.
_ALFRED:I stared at the phone in my hand, contemplating the situation. "Kidnap her and let's end thisconversation. She must be in this pack before midnight, understood?! If you know that you value your job that well then do exactly what I ask of you." I had yelled at the person on the other end before abruptly ending the call. I quickly slid my phone into my pocket, my heart racing and panting as the thought of Anna ran through my mind."Kidnap?" a voice questioned from behind me. I turned around and saw my father, Alpha Logan, entering the room with his walking stick. He was visibly sick, so I was surprised to see him here."Dad?" I called out, rushing to his side. I placed my hands around his neck and positioned one of his hands across my shoulders, ready to assist him in walking. However, he forcefully shoved me away."How dare you son?” He fired back at me, distancing himself away from me.“Dad..I don’t know what you are talking about. Is…there..any..” I stuttered, acting as i
ANNAMy vision blurred as I stretched my hands, signaling the dawn of a new day. The bed feltincredibly comfy as my hand landed on a warm face. Furrowing my brows, I smiled, thinking it was Alpha Mike since he always showed up in my room when I was asleep. As my eyes cleared, I looked at the person in front of me. Jerking immediately, my eyes widened, and I sat up straight, my face furrowed upon seeing Alfred there.“What the hell are you doing in here? Don't tell me you slept in this room,” I asked, shifting far away from his side. He scoffed as he stood up from the bed, stretching his hands. Oh no! He had truly slept here. I calmed down, thinking about my kids. I didn't want to be harsh in my words, so he wouldn't refuse me.“Get me out of here, please. I need to leave,” I said with a worried voice. He smirked, walking closer to me, bending his head as I turned my face away. “As far as I'm concerned, you're not going anywhere.”I was on the verge of speaking when Mira stormed i
ANNAThe room was silent as the only thing that I was able to hear was the sound of Alfred's endless footwalk and the heavy panting that was breathing out of his nose. I could see his dead eyes glancing at my body from my head down to my toes but I didn't flinch at all. He grunted and kept on stomping his feet on the floor as if he had a lot to say and from the way he kept on behaving I could see that he had a lot to say. “Anna, I want you to tell me the truth.” He finally spoke out for the second time. This time around it felt as if the world was about to crumble right in front of my eyes as I heard the question escape out of his mouth. I was dumbfounded and speechless at the same time lost in between what it's expected of me to say or what I need to say.My head was thrown to the ground with my mouth fidgeting, fighting so hard to say a word to him. I saw him walking right in front of me with his hands tightly squeezed with his phone that he had on me. He made use of his index
ALFREDI was surprised to hear the sound of a familiar voice coming from the background from where I stood closer to Anna. Even though I was fully engrossed in finding out the truth on whose kids those children are. “Alfred, so it's true about all that I heard.” I turned around to face my dad whose voice was becoming too loud in the room. The moment I turned my back to look at him properly there I found him with Mira as she stood right beside him with her hands wrapped on her chest wearing a straight and worried face and there he dawned on me that Mira was behind my father's presence in here. I totally released myself off Anna's body and set her aside just to give my father undivided attention, seeing that he might have had certain misconceptions about what he just witnessed. I cleared my throat and put on a broad smile on my cheeks with a straightened face, “Dad, I don't know what you are talking about.”Mira looked at me with a scornful face and scoffed aloud, “That's exactly wh
My eyes fell on Anna and the way she was confident with her words and speech made me wonder what has been going through her mind lately. I wasn't even bothered by how she reacted. All that was going through my mind was to take her to my father's chamber just the way he had instructed me to do. I cleared my throat, “You have no right to be asking me that kind of question. By the time you get to my father's chamber, you'll know why he summoned you.” Anna shook her head in despair, “Summoned me?” She clasped her hands mockingly. “Your father wouldn't have summoned me if you didn't kidnap me.” Her words fell on my ears and increased the anger I had been hoarding for far too long. I didn't want to use any vulgar words on her at all seeing the state of her condition but from the way she kept on attacking me with her words, I wouldn't bother to unleash at her. “You should be lucky that I brought you back to a place you can call your home rather than…”“This is not my home, Alfred. Since
ALFRED. I stood at the far end of the door that led to my father's chamber with my eyes stretched out a little while I peeped to eavesdrop on the conversation that was going on between Mira and the young maid. From the distance I stood the only thing I was able to see from Mira's eyes was nothing but pain and anger. Mira moved closer to the young maid with a condescending tone of voice, “Will you keep on standing and looking at me without saying a word?”“I.. I.. Was.. asked… as..” the young maid stutters with her words while still making use of her left hand to hold onto Anna who was at the verge of passing out due to the pain she felt on her leg. I watched from where I stood even though I was hiding from Mira just to see what she had in mind to say and how she would react if the maid finally gets to reveal who sent her. She banged her fist on the hardened wall with her eyes turning red and her voice roaring out loud in one accord.“Are you deaf? Do you want to lose your job as
ALFRED. My eyes popped out in shock and immediately I detached myself away from her. I took three steps backward from her as I couldn't wrap my head around what she wanted me to do just to prove that I loved her. “You see? There I have you.” She threw her hands up in the air, shaking her head in displeasure. “I know that you have something going on with her and this is the only justification I needed from you.” Her hands dropped down as she walked over to sit on the bed. My heart and mind was racing with different thoughts and silent voices that kept on whispering into my ears to walk over to Mira and beg her just for her to be at ease with me and herself but there I stood vehemently not willing to entertain any more drama by explaining myself to her. I ignored her rants and silent talks she made to herself as I reached for the door without looking back to say a word to her. “Alfred, for how long do you want to keep running away from your problems without providing a solution?”
ALFREDThe only thing I could feel after hearing the voice of pain coming out of her mouth was regret. I regretted not coming out of my hiding place when I realized Mira was requesting information from the young maid. I regretted not giving her a special room where no one would know that she was in the pack because of the pain she had gone through since the moment she was brought in here. I was weak to the core and embarrassed that I couldn't raise my head to look her in the eyes. The tears gushing out of her face only brought back sad memories of how she felt when she realized that I wasn't going to pick her as my Luna. After so much silence she finally spoke up, “I don't know what might be going through your mind right now Alfred. But, the last thing I'd ever do to myself at this point is to sit down and watch you explain yourself to me.” “Believe me, Anna.” I placed my hands softly on her skin with all sincerity in my eyes as I addressed her. “It was never my intention to brin
Alfred. My eyes were bloating out in a reddened state as I lashed out loud at Anna, “I need answers right now.” My father was shaking so badly that for every moment his leg shook my heart thumped in my chest so badly. I was unable to decode all that was happening. Everything was happening so fast and it was becoming almost impossible to grasp every step that was taken by Anna. The fact that she kept on feeding me with her repeated silence made me so furious that I was almost compelled to push her off from my father's grip. “Talk to me, Anna. I need you to say something to me rather than fuel me up with your dead-end silence.” I hunkered right beneath her and grabbed her ankle, “Don't force me to do what I might end up regretting.” Warning her vigorously I continued with my words. My words flew past her ear and she didn't say a word or utter anything in my ear at all to make me feel calm a little bit. She stood up from the bed-sized stool and brought up her hands that were being
Mira.“Answer me!” screaming out loud back at him I increased my grip around his neck while a part of my palm clung unto his collar bones, “ Where did you take the kids? I need to know thermir whereabouts as soon as possible, Zed?”“Indeed!” he gave a sharp nod that reclined with the word that came out of his mouth, “ You need their address so you can go after them and poison them or have them killed, right?”“Enough of the damn question and tell me all that I need to head about the kids whereabouts. I won’t stand right here watching you waste my time on things that aren't necessary at all. For the second time Zed, Where are the kids?”“If I may ask you, Mira. What makes you think that I have the location of where the kids might be? You only walked up to me with mere possible assumptions without any proof and backing and here you are holding the collar of my shirt asking me about something I have no information about.”Raising my eyebrows to a stretchy length,I hissed so loud at him,
MIRA. I tip-toed my way from the maid's dressing room where I stayed to protect myself from getting caught or seen by anyone over to the kid's room but to my surprise I was unable to see any of Anna's kids in their room. I was shocked to my bone marrow to see the room as clean as hell without traces of them in the room. I was unable to spot some of their clothes and their bags and that made me begin to ponder if they were still living in this pack. “Where exactly did Alpha Alfred put them in?” I said to myself packing back and forth right in the room to check if I could find any traces as to where their next location might be. “Damn! Why did he move them to another location without my notice?” I pulled over some of the boxes that were compiled fully to check if I'll be able to find anything but there was nothing to be found. “Fuck! What is your damn plan, Alfred? Why the hell do you keep sabotaging my plans?” I spoke into the thin air addressing him as if he was present in the ro
ANNA:“A knife?” He questioned with a long expression feeling a little bit lost as to why I needed to get a knife as soon as possible, “Why do you need a knife, Anna? If I may ask, what do you need a knife for?” “Do you want your father to be back to life or not, Alfred?” She fired back at me with a long face. “I want him to be back to life, Anna. But, the only thing hindering that is the fact that you want neyo get you a knife.”Her breathes were beginning to tension up as she inhaled and exhaled repeatedly struggling a bit not to pass out. I continued feeling a bit angry, “Take a look at the time it's barely tension minutes to midnight. There is nothing left to be done that would help me bring my father to life. I know he is struggling to fight his way by not getting into the outside world but it's already late.”“I don't know what you are talking about, Alfred.” Her wrist got tightened around my father's grip, “You have to get new a knife, Alfred. We have barely ten minutes and
Alfred. My fears were surpassing her willpower and I couldn't hide it anymore. I was having mixed feelings of both nervousness and eagerness to have her treat my dad before it clocked midnight. No matter how hard I try to hide my desperation, it keeps glaring right in front of my face that she could see it right in my eyes. Every single opportunity I had, I made use of it to set my eyes on the clock watching it tick one after the other.“Do you want me to do anything for you before you attend my father? If you need my help as long as it can hasten the speedy recovery of my father please don’t hesitate to let me know, Anna.” I looked at her in shock and fear of what was ahead of me even though I didn’t know if she had the full power to heal my father. She ignored my question, heaving out a deep sigh of relief as she hunkered beside my father where he lay lifeless, his eyes fully closed as his head was raised facing the ceiling directly as if he was staring at the ceiling. Her hands mo
ANNA. He looked at me feeling so surprised that I would end up showing at his father's ward even after I told him that he should shut the door and don't bother coming back.I could see the shock in his eyes from the way his eyes gawked on me and I know that if I don't end up speaking up one more time he might end up still staring right back into my eyes without saying a word. “I can try to heal your father but…”“Yes! Yes!” He responded without being patient enough to listen to allow that I have to say.“Once he gets better believe me when I say he has all the answers you've been seeking for. You can get to ask him any question in your mind to ask.” he doubled down his respond walking closer to me with his legs wobbling in tension. He held unto my hands and tightened his wrist around it, pulling me closer to have a better look at his father who is fighting so hard to recover. “Please, Anna I know that I have wronged you in so many ways but this is me appealing to you so you can a
ALFRED. My mood that was in high spirit suddenly went down the drain the moment I heard her response towards my father's health. At first I thought she would at least be less considerate and ask me how I've been coping but she wore in a hardened heart today and didn't bother looking at me. The only thing that she said was for me to close the door. “Gosh! What have I gotten myself into?” I threw my hands up in the air, while I rested my back on my father’s ward door as I lamented so badly. Everything was draining me so badly as if care isn't taking properly, I might end up losing my mind and sanity. I can't continue to watch my father groan out in pain while I fold my hands without doing nothing. “Common, Alfred!” I called out my name aggressively, “Why are you talking as if you haven't done your best. You've literally summoned all the best healers and they said there is nothing they can do about it. So, why are you talking like a failure when you aren't one?” My inner voice crawle
Anna.He stood right there at the entrance of the door and couldn’t say anything at all. Right there, at the entrance of the door, he was struggling to take a step forward for he knew that there was no way I’d ever think of my mother not to make mention of asking about her whereabouts.Taking a step further, he initiated his question to me, “Anna, are you sure everything is okay with you?” his voice heightened with a bit of concern.“Do I look like someone who something isn’t okay with? I only asked for my mother and there you are asking me if I’m mentally stable?” I bashed him so hard as if he wasn’t the same man I fell in love with the moment I laid my eyes on him.He heaved out a deep sigh of relief, kicking the chair that wasn’t too distant away from where I sat down so he could settle down.“I see no reason why you are here if you have no response to the simple question I asked you, Alpha Alfred. I need to know where my mother is and how I can be able to see her.” Doubling down o
MIRA. Locking the door from behind was a very difficult thing for me to do because the door makes a loud noise whenever anyone closes the door but I was being extra careful and considerate hence preventing myself from getting into trouble by shutting the door forcefully. My breath seized with my eyes fully tightened as I managed to shut the door from behind without making any noise, “Thank goodness!” I heaved out a deep sigh of relief. Turning my head from the front and back, I was confused on the next step of action to take. I was left with two options of going to pay the kids some visit or heading over to Alpha Logan's ward to finally end his life before things begins to get better for him. Just when I was about to take a step further, I heard the chattering of some maids coming towards my direction, “Damn! Not this time around!” I said to myself looking for a hiding spot to hide myself in until the coast was clear. My eyes were restless as I searched around every corners of t
