The way she excused herself from the dining room left me baffled. At first, I brushed it off, thinking she might be teasing, trying to be a bit playful or hard to get.

But as I saw the seriousness in her eyes when she glanced at the table, my attention wavered.

She had an intense, almost sombre expression, hardly touching her food as her hands absently toyed with her fork.

It was disconcerting, and I found it difficult to focus on my own meal. My eyes kept drifting toward her.

Her silence was unusual, and I couldn't help but wonder if something was bothering her. I began to piece together that maybe she was upset with me for how I had treated her earlier that morning.

I knew I had been in the wrong, and I had planned to apologise, but it seemed like my actions had hurt her on a deeper level than I had initially realised.
