Aurora's POV.

I found myself in the quietness of my room, my vacant gaze fixated on nothingness as deep, heavy sighs flowed from my lips.

Safety had enveloped me within the shelter of this new pack, a group led by someone whose affection for me was boundless.

However, despite the warmth surrounding me, my mind couldn't escape the relentless pull of memories from my past.

Who was I fooling? Why was it so impossible to cease my thoughts from wandering back to Lucious? An anxious lump formed in my throat, and my eyes darted around in slow, torturous motion whenever his image invaded my mind.

It was at this moment that I painfully acknowledged the truth; my heart had stealthily surrendered to Lucious, and even his chilling proclamation about our unborn child couldn't extinguish the flames of love that still burned within me.

Once more, I expelled a weary sigh, sinking further into the embrace of the bed's headboard, my hands instinctively cradling my growing belly.
