SONG OF THE LOST PUP

April's POV

I sobbed late into the night, my heart heavy with the accumulation of catastrophes that had followed me everywhere, beyond my control. The tears stung my eyes, and I couldn't hold them back. But as I cried, I began to hum a tune, and before I realized it, I was singing. It was a song I hadn't sung in a long time, one that told the story of a lost pup found by driads and wood nymphs in the mountains.

The pup grew up, but its fate was a tragic one it devoured the children of the very creatures that had taken it in. The song was a lament, a sad tale of a mother past her fertile years, mourning the loss of her only child to a stray pup they had shown kindness to. My voice tore through the darkness, echoing off the walls of the cave room.

I sang on, the melody pouring out of me like a river, carrying with it all my sorrow, pain, and longing. The song became a cry for help, a plea to the universe to end my suffering, to take away the pain that had become my constant companion.
