MILDRED'S P.O.V
“I'm talking to you!!” She yelled and she gripped my hand.“Let me go..” I slowly muttered. I was on eggshells here, I had no idea about her name or identity, and Enid, who was supposed to protect me, just let me go with her. When he knew I didn't know her.“I see you're growing wings.” She scoffed as she slowly let go of my hand.“Know that I'm watching you Ximena, divorce Enid immediately or stick to our plan and get out of here. You have just 72 hours to do so, or I'm going to tell Enid your little, dirty secret..” she threatened as she slowly let go of my hand.“Now have a nice day..” she uttered with pure sarcasm and she walked away. She hated me, no Ximena, I could see it in her eyes and she wanted to get rid of her. They also shared a secret, a secret which she used in threatening Ximena, who I think was hiding something very huge and only she knew of it, not even Enid. Now I was caught in the middle of it all.I sucked in a deep breath and I slowly walked to Enid, who just finished talking to a guest.“What did Marcella say to you?” He asked and I immediately guessed Marcella was the rude lady.“Nothing..” I replied, as I slowly rubbed my sore arm as she had held me so tight.I possessed no wolf and I healed so slowly, sometimes I healed like a normal human.“I'll send a file to you tomorrow. It contains everything you need to know about me and the people around me..” he informed me as I slowly shook my head while I contemplated if I should tell him about Marcella and what she said. The threat also.“How much do I look like Ximena?” I found myself asking.I was curious, my own parents didn't recognize me as their daughter and Molly barely recognized me, regardless of the fact, that she stood so close to me.“Very much. The only difference between you two is your features..” he replied as our eyes met.“And your…” his voice trailed off as he held himself back from saying something.“My?” I raised a brow at him.“Nothing..” he looked away from me and took a sip from the wine he was drinking.…..I sat on the bed in my room waiting for Enid. The maid had already prepared me for him, for our first night.I was sure nothing was going to happen as he didn't even kiss me.The minutes ticked by, each one seeming to last an eternity. I was filled with anxiety, unsure of what would happen next. I had no idea what to expect from my new husband, or what he would expect from me. I just wanted to be anywhere but here, with him.I was still lost in my thoughts when the door opened and Enid walked in.“Good day, Your Highness..” I quickly stood up to greet him, not forgetting my manners. He still had not changed clothes.“I told you to drop all formalities or does your hearing not work well?” He asked, raising his voice at me.“I'm sorry..” I muttered softly.“Keep your apology to yourself!” he snapped at me, running his hands through his hair as he walked over to sit in a chair while I remained standing. He brought out a cigarette, which he lit and began to smoke.“Don't expect anything from this bullshit called marriage..” he deadpanned and I only shook my head slowly.“No one must know that you're not Ximena. Got it?”“Yes, I do..” I replied in a low tone.I feared Enid a lot, his charisma was exceptional. He was a domineering man and a scary Alpha.I got myself in this mess, it was best I dealt with it.“You're not Mildred. Make sure to stay away from your family. Don't get close to any of them to avoid suspicions..” he pointed out, laying out rules for me.I even had no plans of going near those people I called family.“What if Ximena shows up?” I asked curiously. That would be a problem, right?“That's my problem to deal with, not yours. Just do what you are asked!” He fired at me, obviously trying to tell me not to overstep my boundaries.“The elders and people are going to expect so much from us. So whenever we're around them. Act like things are cool between us and please stay away from those cunning old men..” he warned. He didn't hide his dislike for the elders. He just really wanted to get rid of them. If he could go as far as getting married to a woman he didn't like.I felt a chill run down my spine at his words. I had known that there was something not quite right about this marriage, but I hadn't realized how deep the tension between Enid and the elders went. What was the history there? What had happened to cause such a rift? And why had he married me, if he didn't like me?"I will do as you ask," I responded, trying to keep my voice steady.“Good..”“Don't expect anything from me. No love, no affection. Nothing. You still disgust me. Who would have believed the moon goddess would bestow a person like you as my mate? I've always had expectations really..” he clicked his tongue as he shook his head.“I won't..” I replied obediently.“That's better, as long as you make No mistakes. We won't have a problem with each other..” he blew out smoke from his mouth and stood up.“I guess we're done here..” he announced.“Have a nice and blissful wedding night..” he scoffed sarcastically walking out of the room as he slammed the door after him, loudly, as if pouring his anger on the poor door.MILDREDI groaned and rolled, fighting the morning sun. The bed was soft and warm, the room big and airy, but I just wanted to sleep.Someone nudged me. Then a harder push. I didn't like it. I grabbed the blanket and covered my head, wishing they'd go away."She's just lazy," a mean voice cut through the air. "A lazy, ugly nothing. Can't believe she's our Luna."I stayed quiet, pretending to sleep, but I listened."Always knew she was no good," another voice snapped. "Look at her, sleeping like she's nothing special."A nicer voice tried to defend me. "She's our Luna, we should respect her."The mean voice laughed. "I'm not serving her. She's not fit to be Luna."The room got quiet, the air thick with their words. I peeked out from under the blanket. They couldn't see my face, but inside, their words hurt. Then the kind voice said, "Let's wake her up, get her to breakfast."*I opened my eyes slowly, yawning big. The kind maid, Vanessa, smiled at me. "Morning, Luna Ximena. It's a beaut
MARCELLAMy anger and frustration towards Ximena heightened as I hoisted from the floor. I muffled a curse as I dashed to her in giant strides before she could make it halfway from the dining area. I grabbed her arm again and this time she jerked free in a manner that made my jaws sag. Ximena would never react this way. Or was her ruthless attitude fueled by the fact that she was now married to Enid? Did she imagine she had immunity from me just because she wore that huge rock on her finger? A deal was a deal and she failed to keep her part, I could treat her however I chose to. "How dare you walk out on me!" I scowled, not seeing the need to mask my displeasure. "You were hurting me that's why I—"I raised my hand and she instantly grew silent, the gesture must've stunned her. "Why did you not leave as I commanded you to?"The confusion on her face gnawed at my patience strings. It was now a battle of nerves to keep myself from pouncing on her. "Why would I want to do that? Wh
MILDREDI broke free from Marcella's grasp as we got to the living room. Marcella's gaze momentarily widened at me and her cherry red painted lips crimped in disapproval, suggesting she was taken aback by my actions toward her.But I would rather appear rude to one of Enid's friends than be caught dead on the spot. I couldn't risk my family recognizing me.My gaze darted the entire living room in a futile attempt to glean the perfect spot to deck until I could figure out a getaway plan.Time seemed to freeze as I vacillated between scurrying up the stairs or slipping behind the gigantic flower vase a few spaces away. The latter seemed to be the safest option.I bolted straight away from the brooding family that bore nothing but pain and stealthily stood behind the gigantic flower vase. It was the only place I could remain unnoticed. Sauntering up the stairs was only going to steer my family's attention my way. And that wasn't healthy. But why were they here? Did they notice me during
MILDREDMolly's anxious smiles were etched in my mind forever. How fervently her eyes wanted to please me and how eager she was to get on my good side brought a sense of vendetta to me. I was going to carry out my revenge on them. I glanced at Navaeh, she was smiling at the white-haired nobleman who was saying something to her. It was a matter of time, I was going to get my sweet revenge on them for how badly they had treated me.My eyes drifted from Navaeh to the assistants behind the Butler, bringing in more gifts and bouquets of roses. This made me wonder what kind of woman Ximena was. Did the people actually love her for real or was this a nice gesture for their Alpha? Was Enid a kind ruler and the only way people ever could repay his kindness was to send Felicitations in gifts and kind. Before I could make it out of the living room, I could see Marcella approach Molly. Molly's face was now lit up in glee as Marcella's smiles settled her way.I knew Marcella was interested in fi
MARCELLA"It gladdens my heart to see Enid this happy!" I forced a smile and let the emotions clog my throat. The emotion everyone misinterpreted as care. Enid and I have been friends since fifth grade and that friendship had thrived in a way that a very lonely part of me had prayed it turned to love. I had prayed on everything I held scared Enid be mine but the Goddess was as deaf as rock when it came to this one request. My dreams all failed when Ximena walked down the aisle to the love of my life. And she was going to pay for it. Every second she breathed I was ready to make it tormenting until she eventually let go of her reins on Enid. Enid would have chosen me if she did not reappear. I would have been the Luna of Moonlight Pack soon-to-be Queen of Selenia. But Ximena chose to steal that lifelong dream from me. A server appeared in a black blazer and an arm arched behind him stretching the gold tray our way. I picked out two champagne flutes, handing one to the girl before
ENIDAll through the morning, my mind was out the window from where I stood and it swirled around the elders' decision. How long was it going to take before I got crowned as the King of Selenia? I had met all the criteria they shoved up my face before I was crowned King of Selenia. Then why was no elder speaking of the coronation date? Then it occurred to me that yesterday was my marriage. They were leaving me some time to enjoy my honeymoon. I heaved a sigh.My mind returned to the wolfless girl prancing in my mansion and pretending to be my wife. Of course, she was my wife, we were married in the sight of the goddess and the sight of the law. There was a rap on my door and shortly after my bedroom door opened and without looking back I knew exactly who it was. "The guests are duly entertained, I think it's time for you to join them, my Alpha."Drew, my assistant, called out a few distance from me. "Any memo about the coronation Drew?" I asked without bothering to look his way, m
ENIDI texted Chase to remind him of our little meeting later that day and it took him a decade to confirm the time. How typical of him! Clover replied in the shortest time and that warmed my heart. Clover was the brain behind our little strategy and with how ready he was to work, I couldn't help but get assured things were going to play out as planned.I thought about stopping by the glam room to be certain Mildred was getting her glam done and to douse my qualms she didn't escape the mansion as Ximena did. If she left it was game over for me. My throne would be taken away. I was in the last phase of this kingship. Once my wife and mate were crowned the Queen then the elders could fuck off to hell for all I cared but for now, whatever title I had now was not solid. That's why I needed Mildred to play a convincing part. I needed her to keep my throne. It troubled my heart that Mildred's nerve was going to desert her and she wouldn't hesitate spilling her guts. I was the Alpha Kin
MILDREDI stared at my reflection in the mirror by the vanity countertop in the bathroom. I was void of any feeling. There was no disgust, nor regret. All I knew was that my black tresses had gone down and were now dyed out to this offensive brown bobbed hair which made me a little bit skinnier than I actually was. I looked at my eyes. My hazel eyes were perfect, these honey-brown eyes made it disturbing for me to look at. My stomach built, and I felt the need to throw up. The disgust in the pit of my stomach rose back to my gut threatening to spill. This wasn't me. This wasn't who I was. How did I get here? Where did I go wrong to have the goddess take my life from me?When the need to throw up was consuming, I dashed to the toilet and emptied my bowels. I strengthened, flushed the toilet, brushed my teeth, and stripped, going into the shower. After a few minutes, I stepped out, towel dried my hair and body and it was a few minutes past eight p.m. when I retired to bed. I was i
MILDREDTHE END.I sat on a bench at the burial ground, surrounded by the peaceful silence of nature. In front of me lies the grave of my beloved sister, Ximena. I took a deep breath and began to speak, as if she's still with me."Ximena, it's been a year since you left us. I know you're no longer here, but I need to tell you everything that's happened. I need to make sure you know how much we've accomplished, how much we've healed."Elias and Naveah, they thought they could get away with taking you from us, but they were wrong. Enid and I worked together to bring them to justice. They're now serving life sentences with hard labor. Molly, who was sheepishly helping them, was released and came to me asking for forgiveness. I forgave her, and we've moved on. Marcella, who was also involved, was released but left the pack in shame. Elder Remy, Elias' accomplice, was given a one-year jail term and was banished from the pack as soon as he was released.I paused, looking at her grave."Toda
MILDREDFINALLYI woke up to a knock on the door, my heart was still heavy with grief and I didn’t expect that anyone would be at my door this early. My heart still aches badly. I had only met my twin sister, the Ximena I thought I was impersonating all along, I didn’t know that she was my other half, I had the opportunity to meet her, how could she even be gone already? This doesn’t even make sense! She was taken from me in an instant, by a bullet meant even for me. I felt very guilty even until this moment. I grumbled as I got out of bed and made my way to the door. Vanessa stood outside, her face looking really somber.I looked at Vanessa for a moment, then nodded and walked back to my bed. She suddenly hugged me tightly and burst into tears. I tried to hold back my tears, but I couldn't. We both cried for a while. Then, she held my hands and looked at me with sad eyes. "Someone is here to see you, Mildred," she said softly. "Who is it?" I asked, my voice barely audible. "Just c
MILDRED RIP XIMENA "Oh no, Ximena! Please wake up! We've just found each other, don't leave me now!" I screamed, my voice shaking desperately. Ximena's body lay limp on the ground, her eyes closed, her chest bleeding from the gunshot wound. "Take this madman away!" Enid yelled, and the police dragged Elias away, wresting the gun from his hand. Ximena's eyes flickered open, and she gazed at me with tears streaming down her face. "I'm so glad I found you, sister," she whispered, her voice weak. "Navaeh took me from our mother when we were babies. She used us being twins and that fact that it was a taboo and we will be killed if disclosed to blackmail me, but I'm free now." I held her hand, my heart breaking into a thousand pieces. "Don't worry, Ximena, you'll be okay. We'll get you to the hospital, and you'll survive this." But Ximena's smiled, even though I could see how sad she was through her eyes. "It's too late, Mildred. The bullet hit my heart. I'm sorry...there's nothi
MILDREDHE PULLED THE TRIGGER!"This is it, Marcella! You're going to pay for all the suffering you've caused me!" I snarled, my hand cracking against her cheek in a resounding slap. "And that's for Ximena! I turned my icy gaze on Navaeh, my eyes blazing with pain and fury. "Navaeh," I spat, my voice dripping with venom. She cowered, her body trembling like a leaf, as she beheld the wrath in my eyes. This was the moment I had been waiting for, the moment of reckoning."You treated me like dirt, Navaeh! You made me feel worthless, always favoring your own daughter, Molly, over me. You never cared about my well-being, only your own selfish interests."“Errmm, I…I…” Navaeh tried to speak, but I wouldn't let her. "No, you don't get to talk! You sent me out into the night, alone and vulnerable. If not for destiny, I would have never met Enid. You would have gotten me killed by gunmen or kidnappers because you obviously wouldn’t have paid a dime to get me out of there"My voice cracked w
ENIDMILDRED AND XIMENA ARE TWINSElder Remy's face turned beet red with rage. "You've betrayed the pack, Enid! You lied about Ximena! You're a disgrace to the throne!"Mildred dropped to her knees, pleading with the elders. "Please, have mercy! Enid had no part in this. I deceived everyone, I pretended to be Ximena. I'll accept my punishment, but spare him!"I watched, frustrated, as Mildred took the blame. Didn't she realize she was making things worse? I thought she had learned to think before acting, but apparently not. I felt a surge of annoyance, wanting to tell her to stop, to let me handle it. But I kept my cool, knowing that would only make things worse.Remy's harsh words towards Mildred ignited my anger. "Shut up!" he barked, and my blood boiled. How dare he disrespect my mate?Mildred's attempts to take the blame only made Remy more furious. "You're not fooling anyone, this was a plan between you and Enid. You'll face a harsher punishment," he snarled, ordering the guards
MILDRED OFFCOURSE SHE IS NOT XIMENA I paced back and forth in the room, my mind racing with questions. Why did Enid look so worried? What could be so important that he had to cut our night short? We had plans, plans that didn't involve returning to the pack's headquarters until whenever. I felt a knot in my stomach, my wolf senses tingling with unease. As I paced, my feet carried me to the window, where I gazed out into the night. The stars twinkled, but my eyes saw only darkness. My thoughts were a jumbled mess, my emotions raw. I couldn't believe what Enid had just revealed - that my stepmother, Navaeh, had locked my wolf away all these years. The pain and anger I felt were overwhelming. Eventually, my back ached from pacing, and I collapsed onto the bed, covering myself with the duvet. Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes, and I let them fall, my body shaking with silent sobs. I didn't know how long I cried, but exhaustion finally claimed me, and I drifted off into a f
ENIDMILDRED HAS A WOLFI couldn't contain my excitement. Today was going to be very beautiful and I just couldn't wait. I don't want to spill the tea to Mildred so I just asked her to get dressed but has been trying to ruin the surprise with too many questions."Where are we going?" she asked for the upteenth time, her eyes sparkling with curiosity."Somewhere special," I replied, my smile growing wider. "Just trust me."She laughed and chatted as she got ready, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of joy being around her. I helped her into the car and asked her to stay quiet.I signaled Courtney and she injected her with a sedative. I thanked Courtney and we drove to the forest, where Danda, a powerful shaman, was waiting for us.*"Mildred's wolf has been locked away," Danda revealed, his eyes looking serious. "Her stepmother's doing, no doubt." I was so shocked, how can someone penetrate such cruelty? What could she have done for him to have done that? She deserves to be punishe
ELIASTHE CAT’S OUTTA THE BAG!I swirled the wine in my glass, the rich aroma filling my senses as I sat in Elder Remy's cozy sitting room. The warm glow of the fireplace lighting the room and it made it exude an aura of wealth, but my mind was far from at ease.I summoned the Elder himself, elder Remy had so much power and influence in the pack and I knew he would be the best person to help me with this. My thoughts raced with the weight of the secret I carried - the truth about Ximena. Or rather, the imposter who had been masquerading as her.I took a sip of the wine, the flavors dancing on my tongue as I gathered my thoughts. How could I break the news to Elder Remy, to the entire pack, that the woman they believed was their beloved Ximena was a fraud? That Enid, of all people, had been deceiving them all?I began to have double thoughts. What if that scares them and they deny me the throne too since we are related and have same bloodline? Not possible! They will trust me and see
MARCELLAPLAN BI sobbed like a child who had been denied chocolate, feeling helpless and defeated. Elias's betrayal cut me really deep, and I couldn't bear the thought of him ruining my reputation with whatever video he took of me, but Alexis's warm embrace and gentle words of encouragement comforted me. "Marcella, it's not the end of the world," she said, trying to make me feel better. "We'll find a way to make it through this without Elias soiling your name."I looked up at her, tears streaming down my face. "But how? He's going to ruin me, Alexis. I've come too far to let him win." My voice cracked, and I felt fresh hot tears tingling at the corners of my eyes.Alexis' facial gesture changed, I could tell an idea had clicked. "We'll set him up, Marcella. I'll act like I want to get down with him, and then I'll raise an alarm, saying he tried to molest me. We'll turn the tables on him, and he'll be the one who's left looking bad."I sniffled, considering her plan. It was risky, bu
