Sixty

"Let's talk, Secretary Daniels," she told me before walking out of the room, clearly expecting me to tail after her. She had always treated people like that, like she was above everyone, but for some reason, today, it felt as though she was looking at me with ridiculing eyes.

But since she said she wanted to talk, I could only follow behind her. We stopped at a quiet part of the hallway, and she turned to me, crossing her arms.

"You must feel rather proud today," she remarked the moment we got there.

"Sorry?" I didn't understand why she suddenly said that.

She laughed suddenly, contempt shining her eyes as she uttered, "Don't bother acting dumb, Raven." Her gaze settled on me meaningfully. "We both know you must have done something. Whatever you did, I don't know, but let me warn you... what happened today will never happen again. I'll make sure of it."
