CHAPTER FIFTY-FOUR

MATTEO

It's been thirty minutes since Zelda left. I hoped that she didn't go to bring another of their kind because she was going to be in grave danger of death if they were found by the warriors.

I stood up, pacing around the room as I waited. Beautrix was still moving around Lilith.

I walked into the bathroom and walking out, I carried a bowl of water and a towel. Placing the bowl of water by the table stand, I sat beside her, sliding my hands around her neck, raising her head, and making her rest on her chest.

Beatrix flew and perched by the side, watching me as I cleaned Lilith up, and when I was done, I placed the wet towel on her forehead.

Minutes later, the door flew open, and Nora walked in with Zelda in her arms.

She rushed over to me, placing Zelda on the floor. "Why are you the one here?" I asked her as she pulled closer to me, staring at Lilith.

"Who were you expecting to come?" Nora asked me as she raised her hand on top of Lilith, unsure of herself.
