MELISSA'S POV.Thankfully I managed to hide that one thing from her and was able to get rid of it while I was discharged. We got home safely, and I was expecting her to go back home as soon as we got to my doorstep, but she stood firmly."I think you need to rest now, Layla." I said, looking at her with concern. She had tried so much for me and I was grateful for this. it was hard to see a friend who would stand by you, the way she did."I can have my rest with you. Since when did it seem like I do not have my rest when we come here?" She asked as she placed her right hand on her waist. "Well, I mean... I am certain you are coming here to watch me, when I am clearly fine.""Clearly fine, my foot." She said as she walked into the house and held the door. "Won't you come in?"I sighed. I knew how stubborn she was, and it was better to just do her will than continue to talk about it when it's still her will that would be done."Don't worry. Just this night. I need to be sure that you a
STEFAN'S POV.I looked back immediately, but saw no one."Who are you?" I asked, looking around my car, cautiously."Oh, come on. Did you think you were going to see me, if you looked so fast?" The deep voice said, almost feeling like he was teasing me."What do you mean, by that?" I asked, wondering what game he was trying to play, with me."Look around, slowly, without rush, and then you'll see what you're looking for.""I don't want to see what I am looking for..I want to see who you are and why you are you pulling tricks on me." I said, with clenched teeth."Oh, come on. I told you already. It's left for you to take heed. And we do not have much time, left." The voice said.I had no choice than to heed to what he said, and to my surprise, it was a cloak, without a body, sitting on my backseat. This was a wandering spirit. Legend has it that wandering spirits are those who lost their five coins to give to the ferry man for them to go over to the other world."What are you doing he
MELISSA’S POV.Then Corey bursts into laughter, and I was wondering why he was laughing in the face of danger. There was a ghost here, and those in a dark cloak, do seem to be the bad type.“Why are you laughing?”“Because you fell for my joke. I just wanted to spice up the atmosphere and to show you that I am completely fine now.” He chuckled. Then I looked back again, but I still saw the ghost, in a cloak, and it was certain that it was staring at me, even if I could see no flesh. “What are you talking about? There is truly a ghost, over there.” I said, looking frightened.“Okay, okay, you know what? You win, alright? I am already getting scared, so you can stop.” Corey said, trying not to show how much fear was building inside of him.“I’m not joking. If I were joking, I would have stopped.” I said, with worry as I moved backwards. Then we heard the sound of a car, right behind us, and we looked back. It was Stefan, and I watched as he got down from the car. I could see a baffled
MELISSA’S POV.As I got home, I kept wishing that I hadn’t met Stefan at all. Since he tried revealing himself to me, my life has been filled with war and all. I got to the fridge and took out a bottle of water, gulping it down as I was really thirsty. I had never imagined that I would have to go on a quest for a wandering spirit, which could possibly cost my life. I just hoped that his strength and viciousness won’t be for nothing, in this quest. At least, with his strength and all, this quest ought to be a successful one.I went straight to bed, pulled off my clothes and laid on my bed. Usually, I would turn off the lights, but this time, I didn’t. I couldn’t bear to sleep without light as the experiences I have been having, lately was too frightening for me. I managed to close my eyes and hopefully, mother sleep would be merciful enough to visit me, soon.~The next day, I prepared for work and as usual in the office, Britney came to me with a smile, asking us to brainstorm. “So
MELISSA’S POV.I woke up, panting hard, and sweat dripping, down to my chin. That was a horrible dream, one that I prayed never to have, anymore. Could it be my guilt, haunting me? I really hope that Stefan is alive, and it wasn’t his resentful ghost, that appeared to me while I was asleep.I started preparing for work as I wouldn’t want to be late, at all. I got to work, early, and started working, but I couldn’t fully concentrate. It felt as If Stefan wasn’t here as I had not seen him. This got me more worried. When it was break, I went to the vending machine and ordered a cola, but I couldn’t drink the cola, and only looked at the stairs, leading to the rooftop. I was curious, but I wouldn’t dare to go to the rooftop, all by myself. What if it was Stefan’s dead body I met there, and I was blamed for it, and taken to jail? But that was not the main thing, I was going to feel bad, all my life. Then a voice interrupted my thoughts.“Melisssssaa.” The voice called out to me, in a whis
MELISSA'S POV."Look. Let's try something. Why don't you try catching up with me? And after running, if you still feel like what's on your mind is still disturbing you, then you can go ahead to tell me." He said, with a smile. If he had said this, a few minutes ago, I would have agreed not to tell him anything, but now that I have seen this demon, it is the more reason why I needed to ask for advise. Then Edward started running and I ran after him, also looking at the back, at intervals. The demon was still there, walking slowly towards us while we were running so fast. Then Edward stopped at a more secluded part of the beach, and I looked back, only to see that the demon was no longer there. Edward was trying to catch his breath, and I was doing the same.I was glad that Edward had told us to have a run. That was the perfect opportunity to make use of, to run from the demon without letting anyone know that I can see one. They would think I am crazy and Stefan wasn't here to help."S
STEFAN’S POV.I could not believe my eyes. I opened it and read the letter. She was truly leaving and I wouldn’t forgive myself if I let her slip out of my hands, just like that. So, I dashed out of my office, then went to her office, but she wasn’t there. Neither were her things there. She would have informed them that she was leaving.“Shit!”I ran out of the company, and then drove off to her house, and knocked.“Melissa, open up. Come on, open up.” Then I calmed down to listen, I could tell that there was no one in her house. Then I brought out my phone, and called Layla. Her phone kept ringing, and there was no answer.“Come on, come on, pick up the phone.” I said, feeling frustrated already.Still, there was no answer and I almost threw my phone on the floor, in anger. “Where the hell are you, Melissa?” I said as I slammed my hand on my face.MELISSA’S POVI had decided to heed to Edward’s advice, although, he didn’t know who exactly I was referring to, and that was much bett
STEFAN’S POV.During break, I decided to go to the rooftop, and being on the rooftop was helping me focus on a lot of things. Also, it helped me to think of how I can help Melissa work as one, with me. Chasing her all the time was also taking a toll on my strength as the wounds I got from the demon was also weakening me as my body parts were gradually turning into a spirit.Suddenly, I heard Melissa call my name. Was it because I was thinking of her? It was so weird to hear her voice, this loud. But why was it persistent? Immediately, I looked back only to see her pointing at a direction in fear, and fortunately, I was able to catch sight of the demon, as I could see a trace of the demon. Then my claws came out, and I pierced the demon in his heart, then cut the necklace off his neck, and removed the broken piece of the key, then kept it in my pocket. I felt relieved, and to my surprise, Melissa ran towards me, and hugged me tight.“Thank you so much for keeping to your word. I reall
