KAIDEN’S POV

“Release her.”

The guards let her go immediately, taking two steps backwards.

“Now are you ready to tell the truth?” I asked and she nodded, her hand raised shakily as she pointed towards another direction, into the crowd.

“Be…Benita. It's Benita. She's the owner of the rose handkerchief.” She answered, her entire body still shaken.

I looked up and saw a lady’s head poking out from the crowd, but as soon as she met my gaze, her eyes widened in horror and she ducked immediately, as if that was enough to hide her from me.

I looked down at this, “Who is she to you?”

“She's my…best friend.” She stammered.

“So much for your friendship. She didn't even try to save you.” The maid in question looked like an innocent soul, the kind that would do anything for anyone close to them. Her actions proved so now. She was ready to die for her so-called best friend. Benita must have known and decided to exploit her.
