“After you, Rohi. You must be freezing.” In the elevator, Rafik wrapped Tessa in his arms to warm her from the chill of the rainy London night.

“Is that better?” As his soft lips grazed her forehead, Tessa closed her eyes and nodded.

“Thank you.” Her breasts rose and fell against his abdomen as she sunk into his embrace and pulled on his shirt to bring herself closer.

Even all grown up now, they both missed the sweet innocence of the night they met and wanted to recreate that magic one more time. Without a word, they breathed in anticipation against each other until the doors opened again.

Walking with their little fingers interlocked, she swung his arm as she walked carelessly and grinned to herself, drunk on his presence.

Taking the keys from her, Rafik opened the door, then closed it behind him once they were inside. She took off her coat and hung it on the hook by the door before turning back to him.

The bright white rays of the morning sun peeked through the blinds, and Rafik’s eyes slowly opened. He kissed Tessa’s shoulder before wiggling his face into the warmth of her hair to hide from the sun.He stopped short of making love to her the night before, and she was more than a little annoyed about it when she pouted herself to sleep. It seemed a sin to rush into it after waiting so long for her.“Too early.” Rolling away from the light, she tucked herself into his chest. The heat of her skin was like kissing his morning cup of tea as he pressed his lips against her forehead and thought about what laid ahead for them.He pushed her hair behind her ear and welcomed her with a smile when she opened her eyes. “Good morning, Rohi.”Her sleepy eyes bobbed up and down, and she grinned at his handsome face as she placed her hand on his cheek. “Good morning. I thought I dreamed all that.”“No, Tessa

“Harder, baby. Please.” Preparing to go back to real life was unbearable, so Tessa did her best to convince Rafik to stay in the tender shelter between her legs until the last possible moment.Every charm imparted on her by Fate was like a custom-made concoction designed especially for him, and no matter how many substances he had immunity to, this was the one that slipped through unnoticed. He was powerless to its effects. They spent the last two days tangled up in messy, sweat-drenched, white Egyptian cotton sheets as they tasted and touched every part of each other. No inch of her went unexplored or unloved, but it wasn’t enough for the young lovers. “Yes. Oh, baby. That’s it. Just like that.”Slapping his sweaty hips against her round, slick ass while she cried out into her down-filled pillow, he grunted against the back of her head. As the bed smacked the wall in perfect rhythm to the pleasured noises they both made, the

While the thunder rolled outside the window, the cool air from the drafty old windows blew across Rafik’s face and woke him as the goosebumps rose on his arms. Tessa groaned at the disturbance, so he kissed her shoulder and pulled the blanket over it.Taking the watch from his nightstand, he squinted his sleepy eyes and sighed as he laid it back down. He’d received a special order the night before, and it was urgent.Trying not to wake her, he lifted the leg she had clamped down on his thigh, then slid out from underneath, and she growled like a kitten at its milk bowl when he left the bed.Looking over her naked body wrapped up in his bed, he blinked his eyes and grinned as he pulled his pants over his underwear and fastened them.Lost in her womanly wiles once again last night, he didn’t get a chance to give her the surprise he had, so he grabbed his cloak from the chair. The little box was lined in velvet, and when he pushed it

They spent every night pressed together skin to skin, and he felt like part of her body now.She had a fire inside her always, and it was like sleeping by a cozy fireplace on a cold winter day all the time, and he found that he could no longer sleep without touching her. “And I especially can’t wait to take a gander at you in nothing but a little pair of swim shorts on the beach.”Smiling with his eyes closed, he thought back to his childhood when he played outside in his bare feet with nothing but his pants on because it was always warm and sunny where he grew up. “Yes, I think it has rained every day since I came here all those years ago. The beach sounds like a welcome change. I haven’t been in the water for a very l

As she breathed against his chest, Tessa’s hot breath sent vibrations through his skin, making Rafik look up from the page he was on to glance down over her. Smiling to himself at the prize that Fate had bestowed on him, Rafik pushed his head back into the sand-littered blanket and returned to Odysseus’ adventure while he let her sleep the day away. While she strolled down the unfamiliar path through a dense forest in her dream, Tessa looked around at the trees and crossed her arms as she tried to figure out where she was. Coming to a clean, rocky stream, she heard the faint cries of a baby and Rafik singing their song. She delicately hopped across the smooth stones then stood before a gate with giant ancient statues to each side.An older warlock with long black hair and green robes nodded his head to her. “Welcome to the North Woods, Your Majesty. Your family is waiting for you.”When she passed through the giant stone guards tha

“What the fuck!” Her toes tapped on the floor as Tessa’s narrowed eyes glanced up to Rafik, and he could see the air around her start to wave with the heat of her temper. “I know I put that diary of mine in this drawer.”As he slipped on his flannel pants, he shrugged his bare shoulders. “You didn’t move it somewhere else and forgot, did you?”Rolling her eyes and sighing at the implication, she shook her head and gave him a sarcastic British sounding, “No!”Shoving the drawer shut with an irritated slam, she stood and crossed her arms as she faced him. “I never forget anything. Ever! Someone was snooping around our room, Rafik. What the hell would anyone want with my childhood diary? I didn’t even become interesting until about five years ago or so when I discovered oral sex.”Trying to calm her quick temper, he came to her and put his hands on her cheeks. “Who would not

A master of denial, she could lie her way out of any situation and had hustled thousands of dollars from manipulating people with her deception.Standing in front of the full-length mirror, she shook out her hands and blew out through pursed lips. She locked away the truth deep inside the backroom in her mind and pretended not to recognize the reality of her life as she put on her toothiest smile. “Everything

The crushing silence pushed on Haldir’s ears, and the piercing whistle it made lifted the little hairs on his arms when he noticed the sounds of Tessa humming and chattering to herself didn’t resonate in the hall this morning. Finding something else to occupy her time with should have made him happy, but whenever she had a second of peace like that, it sent a shiver through him because it was usually just the pause before a storm that left her bathed in blood. The pads of his fingertips pulsed with a rush of fear when he gripped the doorway, and he closed his eyes before he made the corner. Twice he found her near death right there on her floor, and he swore to himself that the third time, he wouldn&

The click, click, click of the metal fan that was beating itself to death in the window blew the cool night air across Tessa’s face as it chased away the last of her fever. Blue eyes blinked up to it, and a puff of amusement shot from Haldir’s nose that even in a building full of witches, they couldn’t make it work right.Pushing back the stray hairs from her cheek, he tucked them behind her ear before he leaned over and kissed her forehead. “Do you need anything before I go?”Faint clicks of breaths echoed around her throat until her dry lips parted enough to answer. “I’m okay.”With nothing but doubts in his mind, he pressed his head to hers and hoped he would see more hopeful things in her future. “I’ll be back tomorrow. You be a good girl until I come home, and we’ll go visit Father Michael if you want.”The only sound escaping her mouth was the clucking, halted breaths that came

It was the one thing he could never let her find again. “Not in your bag, not in your drawers, not in your closet. Where would she stash you?”As he lowered himself down into the spot she slept in, he closed his eyes and tried to imagine her lying there. The memory of him making love to her took over every instinct that told her he was gone from this world.
