Alexander's POV
As I drove with no specific destination in mind, I recalled how Olivia had become a part of my life.
In college, I only had eyes for Kira. I was just a year older than her back then. At twenty-four, Kira had the body of a supermodel and had already graced the covers of several popular magazines. Her perfect body
and pretty face drove me mad with desire. We were both from worthy families, and it felt so right to be with her. Though she was a social media freak, I understood her. I loved her and planned to marry her once we completed college in only a couple of months. Then there was Olivia. She was always there trying to please me, but I ignored her because my heart was already taken. Kira was not the type to serve a man, but Olivia was prepared to do anything for me. Yet it was Kira I wanted.
When I told Kira I wanted to introduce her to my parents as the girl I wanted to marry, she agreed with excitement. My family would have accepted her because she was from a family of worth, too. On that fateful day, I waited at our usual meeting spot, a bench at a local theme park. We’d planned to go from there to my family's house together.
I waited and waited. Seconds turned into minutes, and minutes turned into hours. It felt like an eternity passed. I tried phoning her but received no answer. My heart raced as I grew worried, wondering if she was okay and contemplating what I should do. Eventually, my phone buzzed with a text message. Relief washed over me as I saw Kira’s name on the caller ID. I quickly opened the message.
My dearest love,
I know we planned to meet at our usual spot today, where our love story began. Unfortunately, I can’t make it. I was just awarded a ten-year contract as a supermodel with Starlight, the top modeling agency in the UK. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime, and I can’t pass it up. I’m leaving the country tonight. So this is the end of the road for us, Alexander. I’m so sorry. Believe me when I say this decision wasn’t easy for me. I love you and wish I could spend my life with you, but it’s simply not meant to be.
Kira
My smile faltered as my heart caved in. It felt like I’d been drenched with a bucket of cold water. I reread the message, each sentence feeling like a needle piercing my heart. For some time, I sat in silence, feeling like a shell of my former self. My family called continually, and I ignored them. Eventually, Olivia found me. She must have sensed my distress, because she rushed to my side and pulled me into a hug. I hugged her back tightly, and let out my sorrow, sobs wracking me.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I’m truly sorry you she put you through that. You’re a wonderful man and deserve better.”
Feeling lost and hopeless, I peered at her. Then she said the unexpected. “How about me? I love you, Alexander. I’ve always loved you. If you give me the chance, I promise I’ll make you the happiest man on earth.”
I pulled away from her embrace and looked at her quizzically, suddenly wondering how she had found me and why she’d bring this up now. Did she have something to do with Kira leaving me the way she did?
She must have. She was also from a worthy family, and I didn’t doubt for a second she could have had a hand in it. Anger bubbled within me, and I wanted to push her away. But then she reached out and touched the side of my face and stared at me with what looked like love and longing. I felt calmness from her touch, and that angered me even more, though I didn't react.
“I love you, Alexander,” she confessed a second time, her eyes searching mine.
“You want me?” I asked softly, my voice barely above a whisper.
She nodded, a tear in her eye.
I kissed her. Yes, I kissed her. Not because I loved her, but I needed relief from the pain of losing Kira, and Olivia was there. I needed an outlet. My body needed one even more. If not for the fact that we were sitting on a bench at a theme park, I would have taken things further.
My phone rang, and I pulled away from Olivia to check the caller ID. I answered my mother’s call, while Olivia stared at me like she had just won a trophy.
“Alexander, it’s getting late,” my mother said. “Everyone’s here waiting to meet that wonderful girl. Are you two coming?”
I stared at Olivia’s smiling face. Her smile looked genuine, but she couldn’t fool me. She sent Kira away just to win me. I knew she did.
You took my love away from me. I will make you pay. I held back a sneer, and instead wore a false smile in return as I answered my mother. “Yes, Mum. We’re coming. Her name is Olivia. Olivia Hudson.”
A tear streamed down Olivia’s joy-filled face.
Alexander's POVOlivia was both my antidote and poison. I felt calm around her, but yet I hated her. I didn’t want the world to know I was marrying her, and I didn’t give her a girl's dream wedding. Instead, I capitalized on the disapproval of both our families—my mother took an instant dislike to Olivia once I told her I believed she sabotaged my relationship with Kira—and suggested we have a small courthouse wedding.I told her, “We’ll be together. That’s all that matters,” and she smiled. When the day of our wedding arrived, we went to the courthouse and met up with my sister, Lydia, and Olivia’s friend, Vera. But even though we’d decided on a small affair, Olivia still expected my mother to attend. When she asked why my mother wasn’t there, I lied with a smile, saying, “She had an emergency.”We spent fewer than ten minutes at the courthouse, then signed the wedding certificate. No ceremony, no heartfelt vows. Just the standard fair, with a stingy peck when prompted. Olivia’s fam
Olivia's POVI lay on the bed for a while after taking the medication Violet gave me. Eventually, I drifted off to sleep and then into a dream. In it, I was in a familiar, yet unrecognizable room. From there, I went into a hallway then down a spiral staircase. That felt familiar as well, like I had used it before, though I couldn’t recall where or when. It led to a living room, dining room, and kitchen, each of which held that same eerie familiar feeling. As I stood in the kitchen wondering whose house I was in and why it felt so familiar, yelling came from a faceless female standing at the kitchen door. “What are you doing standing there like an imbecile? Aren't you supposed to be cleaning, you lazy gold digger?” She scoffed and then continued. "You can keep trying, but my brother will never love you. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.” Another faceless female figure appeared behind the first. “You’ll always be the piece of silly trash you are," she said. “You’re worthless and don'
Olivia's POVMy eyes widened as I stared at him. The name Alex echoed in my head. "You do forget who I am Vera. I don't need an invitation to go to a place," Alex said and I frowned. He was full of himself. He was handsome but I don't think I like his attitude right now."Well, this is private property and you are transpassing," Leo said standing up to Alex. "If you don't want me calling the police on your ass, you better get teleport yourself out of here," he added. "Alex, please leave," Vera said angrily and Alex glared at the two.I stood behind Vera watching the whole scene before me. My gaze was more on this Alex guy recalling Vera's words, that I was married to him."Fine, I am leaving," Alex said and turned to leave but unexpectedly pushed Leo so hard he lost his balance and fell to the ground."Leo," I screamed and Alex grabbed my hand."You are coming with me," he said through gritted teeth. The look in his eyes sent chills down my spine. I tried to free myself but he tight
Alexander's POV The day Olivia walked up to me with the divorce papers, I was shocked. The first question I asked myself was, has she stopped loving me? The idea of losing her sent chills down my spine and made fear grip my heart. When I was very young, I was diagnosed with a condition, bipolar disorder. My parents thought I could never have a normal life. My mum became the reason I acted normal. She knew what to say to me and how to handle me all through my life. I met Kira and she awakened something else in me. I never stopped talking about her. It was like I was healed from my condition until that day when she left. Kira leaving me took a toll on me and I blamed Olivia for it. However, Olivia, coming into my life helped me heal. Olivia loved to sing and it comforted me. She respected me and loved to serve me. These little things had a positive impact on me. However, I couldn't forgive her for making Kira dumped me and hence I couldn't show her love. My family treated her badly a
"Sir," I heard Ezra say but I angrily interrupted. "Just do as I say," I yelled at him and I heard him reply with 'yes sir'. I tossed the phone to the side and started pacing up and down my room. I was beginning to regret all my actions. I started thinking about things I could have done to keep her with me. Like locking her up. For starters, I shouldn't have sent her out of my room. I should have also not allowed her to leave the house that night. There was a knock on my door interrupting my messed up mind. Thinking it was my mum I yelled at her. "Go away, mum,," but the door was unlocked and pushed open. Because of my condition, my mum had a spare key to my room just to make sure I didn't harm myself. I thought it was my mum but when the person strode in. It was Maria. I wondered how long I had been pacing up and down my room because Maria was wearing a different dress. She took off the long black jacket she was wearing exposing what she was wearing underneath to my view. She wa
Alexander's POV I sat on the bathroom floor and was suddenly hit by a strong emotion. The thought of Olivia occupied my mind. I just couldn't get her out of my mind. "She can't leave me," I said to myself. I stayed in my room and didn't go to the office for a while. I did my office work from home. Ezra called me and told me about the party at the hotel for Olivia. My lips curled up into a smile. "Get me all the details," I said. "It's happening tonight, sir," Ezra said. "Great," I replied. "We are going for a party tonight," I said but Ezra spoke again. "Sir, I found the Leo guy," he said. "Go ahead," I urged him, a tinge of anger evident in my voice. "His name is Leo Smith, the CEO of a well-known company in New York City. He owns the Construction Company at Aventura. It is one of the branches of his company. He arrived in Florida a week ago and he has an invitation to Ms Olivia's party," Ezra informed. "So Leo from college is the one Olivia is going out with now," I said
I yelled at the man and we had an exchange. Olivia's behaviour surprised me though. She looked at me like she had never seen me in her entire life. After pushing Leo to the ground I grabbed her hand and wanted to leave the place with her but she looked at me like I was a total stranger. I heard Vera confirm my identity for her. "What is wrong with Olivia?" the thought ran through my head but I was determined to take her home with me. Leo was just getting on my nerves. We threw a few punches at each other and Vera showed me her phone screen asking me to leave. She was calling the police. It was not that I could not handle the police, I just didn't want my business out there in public. I decided to leave for home. I walked out of the place angrily and tasked Ezra to find out what was wrong with Olivia. "Go to the hospital where she was on admission after her accident and get me all you can on her. Do whatever it takes to get me that information," I order Ezra before getting out of
Kira's POV Back in College, I was one of the hottest girls on campus and the boys droll over me. They all want a piece of me but I am selective. If you want me, you better have what it takes, money. I am from a rich family. My family owns a perfume and jewellery shops. They produce designer and expensive products for the worthy family. So money wasn't a problem but I love spending and the luxurious lifestyle. Despite all the worth of my family, I wanted more. There was one guy who caught my attention, Alexander Williams. He had a great body physique, was attractively handsome and was from a worthy family too, but let me say my family was richer than his family. He was just a son of the great and famous Mr Williams, whose face was all over social media and travelled to countries like they were just a stone throw away from his huge mansion. Alexander was one of the handsome men on campus and being the hottest girl, it made sense to be his girl. Even though I was with him, I didn't
Olivia's POVWhile in the hospital, Alexander never came to see me. It felt like old times except this time, I knew Alexander was on admission too. The day I was discharged I visited his ward and he was asleep. I never entered his ward. I watched him through the glass. He looked different now but I
Olivia's POVI opened my eyes and my mind went to the pain I felt in my hand which quickly travelled to my back and my whole body was soon consumed with pain. The pain was gone and I felt better. I knew I was in the hospital, I turned my head slightly and met the gaze of my brother Austin."What hap
Alexander's POVThree days after my mum's arrest, myself, Austin and my lawyer sat in my living room getting ready for the court hearing. My housekeeper walked in."Sir, your sister is here," she announced."I will be back," I said to them and excused myself.I followed the housekeeper to the door a
"Yes ma'am," the lady at the reception said and I pulled my bag towards the exit.Outside, I quickly got a cab and headed for the airport. After half an hour's drive, I arrived at the airport. The news about Leo was still playing on my mind."We are here ma'am," the driver said snapping back to real
Matilda's POVI was still at the motel. I had requested a room under a different name and paid cash just to make sure, my name is not in the motel's management system. I had come in with a disguise too. I changed my eye colour and my hair. I also gave myself a different look by using tape to pull th
"Leo loves Olivia. I know," I said. "So why will he do something that would make Olivia hate him?" I asked."That is an important question. We need to find an answer, if not this could be used to disregard the evidence," Austin said and I shifted my gaze to my team member who had still standing in h
Alexander's POVI opened the file and went through the information printed out in black and white while lying on my bed. I was shocked by what I found out. I never knew Lydia and Olivia shared the same father. I knew Lydia was my half-sister because we share a mother but never in my wildest dream di
Leo's POVI thought I was finally going to have Olivia to myself. With the way everything was going, I knew convincing Olivia to love me was no longer something I could do. She was just not ready to love me for whatever reason. I have done everything I could to convince her I am the man for her but
Well, we didn't have to stay in that condition for long, the police entered using the front door. Leo grabbed Olivia as a shield, trying to escape but Olivia's brother came from behind him and hit him in the head. Leo was done but a gun went off. Not sure whose but I saw the guard standing behind Ol
