Kade POV

I’m fucking lost.

Since we left my apartment, I’ve barely said a word. The papers are out of my hands, Rook made sure of that, but it doesn’t matter. The words are still there, burned into my mind, screaming at me every time I close my eyes.

I need to go home. I need to talk to her, figure out what the hell is going on, but I can already hear Rook telling me it’s a bad idea.

A nudge pulls me from my thoughts. I glance over, meeting his gaze.

“Stop worrying,” he says, voice softer than usual. “Get inside, speak with my dad.” He presses a quick kiss to my lips before getting out of the car. I follow, feeling heavier with every step.

Rook walks straight to his dad, handing over the papers before scooping Harlow into his arms.

Nikolai barely glances at the first page before motioning toward a chair. “Okay, sit. Let’s look at this.”

I drop into the seat, rubbing a hand over my face as Nikolai nods toward one of his men. “Aiden, get him a whiskey.”

A glass is poured and set in fron

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Her Greed

Kade POVI sent her everything, more than I even kept for myself. Every time she asked, every time she made me feel like it was my responsibility, I just sent the money and didn’t think twice. And now? Now she wants even more?Running a hand through my hair, I exhale through my nose. “She doesn’t even need it. She’s got three fucking jobs.”“She doesn’t care,” Nikolai replies easily, closing the laptop. “It’s not about need, Mercer. It’s about greed. She sees your bank account and thinks she deserves a cut, whether she’s already taken her fill or not.”Rook scoffs, shaking his head. “She’s already taken more than a cut. What the fuck has she even done with it? Because from what I remember, she’s still living in the same trailer park.”My stomach twists. “She told me she was paying off debt. That she was saving up, but the girls needed things.”Nikolai laughs, low and unimpressed. “She was lying.”I blink at him, my hands clenching into fists. “How do you know?”He leans forward, resti

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Going Back

Rook POVI don’t want to be here. Hell, I don’t even want to be near her. But I don’t have a choice. There’s no way in hell I’m leaving Kade alone to face her. We’ve been parked outside for at least ten minutes, and he still hasn’t moved.“Come on, get your shit,” I say, pushing my door open and stepping out. I don’t bother looking back. I know he’ll follow. He always does.Sure enough, I hear him rushing to catch up, his footsteps quick behind mine.As we reach the trailer, the door swings open, and there she is. His mother.Kade doesn’t hesitate. “I need to grab the rest of my things.”She moves aside without a word. I was expecting her to argue, maybe demand an explanation, but she doesn’t. He steps inside, and I follow, shutting the door behind us.Inside his small room, he grabs a duffle bag and starts packing. He’s quiet, though. Too quiet.I lean against the doorframe, watching him. “What’s going on in that head of yours?”“I need to ask her why,” Kade mutters, still focused on

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Her Evil

Rook POVLouise’s smile widens. “She’s got a job?” She looks between me and Kade, waiting for confirmation.Kade hesitates for a second, then nods. “Sure does. She’s doing fine. Don’t worry about her.”His mother glares daggers at me, but I fight back the smirk. What? Did she want us to tell Louise the truth? That she was part of the reason Amelia ran away? That she made home unbearable?“So… she’ll call soon then, right?” Louise asks, her hope growing.Kade exhales, shifting slightly. “I don’t know. She didn’t mention anything.”“Yeah, but she said when she had enough money after getting a job, I could visit her. Maybe even stay with her for a while.” Louise beams at him, completely unaware of how her mother is now seething behind her.“You’re not leaving!” His mother’s voice explodes through the room. The second the words leave her mouth, Louise flinches. She looks up at her mother, wide-eyed, like she’s just been slapped in the face.“What do you mean?” she asks quietly, her voice

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Searching For Her

Rook POVEach person shakes their head, some confused, some concerned, but none of them have seen her. The further we go, the darker the sky gets, the deeper Kade’s frown sets. His shoulders are tight, his movements sharper, more impatient. He knocks harder each time, speaks faster, his voice edged with something close to panic.“Where the hell did she go?” he mutters, glancing around as if she’ll just appear out of nowhere. The trailer park is getting quiet now, lights flicking on inside homes as people settle in for the night. The realization that we still haven’t found her settles uncomfortably in my chest.Kade exhales sharply, running a hand through his hair. “She wouldn’t just leave the park. She wouldn’t…” He trails off, his eyes scanning the area like he’s searching for something, anything.I watch him carefully. He’s getting more worried, his usual calm slipping.“She’ll turn up,” I say, even though I don’t know if that’s true.He doesn’t answer. Just keeps looking, his hand

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Obsession

Kade POVIt’s been a week since I last saw my mother. A week of waiting, thinking she’d eventually give in. But she hasn’t.Nikolai isn’t soft. He’s thrown everything at her legal team, tearing apart every argument they come up with, but she’s still refusing to back down. Now, she’s shifted tactics. It’s not just about money anymore. Now it’s about me—about how I’m dating the people she blames for putting her in a trailer, how it’s traumatized her to see me with them.At that point, I was ready to say screw it and just pay. The last thing I want is for this to drag Rook or Nikolai into the spotlight.Nikolai refused. He was insistent. She has nothing to prove her case. Yeah, there were payments made to his family, but that was when his father was in charge. Those stopped the second Nikolai took over. There’s no evidence linking them to my father’s death either. Nikolai isn’t just some random guy—he’s made sure there’s nothing left for her to use.Her legal team is scrambling, throwing

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Playing

Kade POVI shake my head, adjusting my gear. “Told you.”Rook rolls his eyes. “You two deserve each other.” He glances toward Rose, smirking. “And you, congratulations on being the highest-paid person in this house for doing absolutely nothing.”Rose just shakes her head, clearly unfazed.“Come on,” I say, picking up my bag. “Let’s go before you start making a PowerPoint presentation on it.”Rook sighs dramatically. “Fine. But when I win tonight, I expect a public apology for your disrespect.”I laugh, already heading for the door. “Not happening.”He follows, muttering under his breath. “We’ll see about that.”Sliding into the back of the car, I barely get settled before Rook nudges me with his elbow.“So,” he starts, dragging the word out, “have you made any new agreements with my dad yet?”I scoff, shaking my head. “Not throwing the game, if that’s what you’re asking. I’m playing for real.”He grins, leaning back against the seat. “Good. I want a fair win.”I laugh, turning to look

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   His Taunting

Kade POVHe catches up to me near center ice, waiting for the next faceoff. “You always hit me that hard, or is this because I didn’t let you finish your coffee this morning?” he smirks.I roll my eyes. “Oh, don’t start...”“Actually, now that I think about it,” he cuts me off, tapping his stick against the ice, “you seemed real moody when I took Harlow from you, too. You getting attached, Mercer?"The puck drops before I can respond, and I immediately get possession, moving fast up the ice. I hear Rook laughing behind me.“Thought so,” he calls after me.I tune him out, focusing on the game. But that doesn’t stop him from running his mouth every chance he gets. When I pull a quick deke past one of his teammates, he whistles. “Damn, that’s smooth. Almost as smooth as when you tripped over the damn baby gate yesterday.”I grit my teeth, chasing him into the defensive zone as he picks up speed.“Watch the stick, Mercer,” he taunts as I poke-check, nearly getting the puck from him. “Woul

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Fun Night

Rook POVCameras flash, voices clash, and Kade already looks like he wants to throw someone into the boards again.I nudge him, smirking. “Well, Mercer, you finally gave them what they wanted. Feel special?”His jaw clenches. “Exactly what I needed today.”A reporter steps forward, mic practically in his face. “Kade, this is the first time we’ve seen a public display of affection between you and Rook. Was this planned?”Another jumps in before he can answer. “You’ve stayed quiet since the first photos surfaced. Does this mean you’re officially comfortable with being public?”I glance at Kade, watching him debate between ignoring them or committing some light assault.Sighing, I step in, grinning. “He’s shy. You know how it is. Soft-spoken, fragile, not great with attention.”Kade glares at me. “Shut the hell up.”I gasp dramatically, pressing a hand to my chest. “Did you hear that? The Kade Mercer just spoke. Guess the silent treatment is over.”A few chuckles ripple through the repor

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Fighting Words

Kade POVDanielle watches, waiting, maybe hoping that I’ll finally break. I don’t. I inhale slowly, shaking the blood from my lips, and laugh.“How long do you think you’ve got left?” I ask, my voice rough but still steady. “Every minute you waste here? That’s more time my men have to find me. And when they do? You’ll be fucking wishing you killed me the second I walked through that door.”The guy in front of me hesitates, glancing back at her, waiting for an order.“Keep going,” she snaps, her voice sharper now.He does. Another punch to my ribs, another to my jaw, but I don’t stop grinning. The pain is sharp, burning through my body, but I don’t let it show. They want me to break. They want me to plead. That’s never going to happen.Danielle steps closer, her eyes locked onto mine. “You think you’re so fucking smart, don’t you?” she

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Fighting

Kade POVI hiss through my teeth, more from the annoyance than the pain. “There you go. That’s a little better.”She glares, dragging the blade in a shallow cut across my side, but she’s still holding back. Testing me. I shake my head, sighing.“See, this is why you’re not going to win,” I say, my voice steady despite the sting. “You don’t actually know how to do this.”Danielle scoffs. “Oh, I don’t?”I tilt my head. “No. If you did, you wouldn’t be wasting time with this weak shit.”She presses the knife in harder, and I grin, feeling her frustration build. “You want to break someone? You don’t start here,” I say, nodding toward my ribs. “You start small. Fingers. Knees. Maybe a little nerve damage if you want to get creative.”She stills, something flickering across her face. Disgust. Uncertainty.&ldq

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Not Weak

Kade POVHer nostrils flare as she presses the blade harder, drawing a thin line of blood. “You don’t hold the power here.”“Don’t I?” I whisper, locking eyes with her. “Then why are you the one trying to prove something?”Her grip tightens on the knife, but she hesitates. That’s her biggest fucking problem. She doesn’t commit. She doesn’t know how to follow through.“Let me tell you how this plays out,” I continue, voice smooth despite the sting on my cheek. “You keep me here, keep trying to break me, but it doesn’t work. Eventually, you get frustrated, you get sloppy, and then my men find me. And when they do, you don’t walk away from this.”Her eyes narrow. “You sound pretty fucking confident for someone tied up right now.”“Because I know how this ends.” I smirk. “And so do you.”Danielle exhale

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Taken

Kade POVLorenzo is weird. Not in a bad way, just… he’s always had that tone in his voice that says he’s not right in the head, and sitting here, talking to him, I know he’s far from right.I glance at my phone again. I know it’s disrespectful, but I want to stay on time and prove to Rook that I won’t mess up.“You keep looking at it,” Lorenzo taps the phone.“Sorry, I just want to stay on schedule.”He nods. “I understand that, which is why, as soon as the hour is up, my watch will vibrate to remind me,” he laughs, and I nod.Maybe that’s what I need to do—rather than constantly checking my phone.I go back to focusing on our conversation, making sure he knows exactly who I am and the kind of person I am. He talks a bit about Nikolai and the time they spent together when he had just started taking over here. He respects Nikolai&mdash

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Trying

Rook POV“Find him!” I shout, turning back toward the others, fury and fear bleeding into every word.“We’re working on it,” Damon says quickly. “But his phone was found out the back of the restaurant. Smashed.”No. No, no, no. That phone was the only way to find him.“Track my phone,” I demand. “Whoever it is has my phone. Track it!”“We already tried when you didn’t answer my calls,” one of the men mutters. “It’s not giving off a signal.”My head shakes violently. “Nothing? You’ve had nothing? Not a single fucking thing to give you a hint of what they want?”Damon hesitates.I step toward him. “What is it?”His jaw clenches before he finally speaks. “Lorenzo dug into it and he mentioned there were three targets. Kade, you… and Harlow.”Everything inside me stills.

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Gone

Rook POVHarlow is still relaxed against me.“You having fun, princess?” I murmur, resting my chin on top of her head. She nods against me. “I like it here. It’s quiet, and you and Rose aren’t talking about boring grown-up stuff.”Rose chuckles from where she’s sitting nearby. “I’ll have you know I’m very fun, Harlow.”Harlow tilts her head back, grinning. “You’re fun, but you still say boring stuff sometimes.”I laugh, squeezing her a little. “Well, you got me there.”She sits up a little, looking at me seriously. “Can we stay here forever?”I raise an eyebrow. “Forever is a long time, princess.”She sighs, playing with the edge of my sleeve. “I know, but I like when it’s just us. No busy stuff, no people being mad about things, just us.”Damn. I feel that. I know exactly what

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Perfect Holiday

Rook POVFor the first time in a long time, I feel myself fully relax, knowing that he won’t be stretching himself thin anymore. He won’t be trying to do too much, won’t be running himself into the ground trying to be in three places at once.He made the decision, and I know he won’t go back on it.“You okay with it?” he asks, like my opinion actually matters in this.I press a kiss against his forehead. “Yeah. I am.”Kade lets out a quiet breath, his body sinking into mine again. I feel the way his hand tightens around mine, the way he clings to me just a little bit more. For once, he’s letting go of something that doesn’t serve him anymore. And for once, he’s choosing himself. Choosing us.This week has been amazing. It’s weird, I didn’t know what I was missing, I just knew things weren’t right. The more of this week that passed, the more time

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Agreeing

Rook POVThe house is simple, almost too simple. The walls are bare stone, the furniture minimal, just enough to make it livable. It’s not extravagant, not dripping in wealth like the places we usually stay, but somehow, that makes it better. There’s nothing here to distract us. No reminders of the world we left behind for the week, no ringing phones, no people demanding our attention. Just us.I walk further in, dragging my fingers along the edge of the wooden table in the center of the room. Kade doesn’t say anything, just watches me with that unreadable look on his face. I know what he’s thinking. This place isn’t like us. But maybe that’s why he chose it.He disappears into the bedroom, and I follow, finding him already stripping off his clothes. He tosses his shirt onto the chair by the window before moving onto his pants. I smirk. “Eager?”He doesn’t bother looking up as he kicks

  • Pucking Forbidden Claim   Feeling Better

Kade POVThe meal continues with Rottami di Pollo in Padella, a rustic dish of pan-fried chicken finished in a wood oven. The skin is golden and crisp, the aroma rich and inviting.Rook picks up a piece, biting into it with an appreciative groan. “Okay, I’ll admit, this is really good. But no pasta? No pizza? What kind of Italian meal is this?”I chuckle. “Authentic, traditional. Not the tourist menu.”His lips quirk up as he leans back. “Still think pizza would’ve been a nice touch.”A wedge of Parmigiano Reggiano is placed on the table, the waiter cutting thick slices straight from the wheel. Rook stares at it, his eyes widening slightly.“That is an excessive amount of cheese,” he mutters.“Think you can handle it?” I tease. He grins, taking a generous piece. “Watch me.”When we finally finish that, the final course arrives, Arance all
