Ring! The phone buzzed on the table beside Kiara. She stuck her hand out to reach for it."Luca, someone is calling you." She groaned, pushing her hand all over the scattered bedside where bottles and perfumes were. She knocked a bottle of perfume over and if not for the fact that the floors were carpeted, it would have broken. Through the window, she could make out the dim orange-coloured sky; the sun was just setting. She hadn't slept that long before."Careful, baby girl." He entered the room, shirtless. What a sight to see early in the morning."Well, you left your phone here. Why didn't you take it with you?" She rubbed her eyes groaning. "It kept ringing like for five minutes," She whined groggily, sitting up from the bed."I'm sorry, Princess. I was busy in the kitchen." He smiled, grabbing her hand."You go take a shower, you've been in bed for a while, and you still haven't cleaned up." He winked, spanking her soft ass."I will, I will." She brushed her untamed hair away from
"Where are we going?" Kiara screeched in Luca's ear as she bounced up and down on the bed."Okay, okay. Calm down!" He yelled tiredly, still wanting to sleep in."Hey! I am calm!" She hit him with a pillow playfully, straddling him."No, you're not. You're acting like a ferocious tiger early in the morning. So not classy of you," he joked, adjusting his position on the bed."Hardy, ha ha, very funny." Kiara hit him with a pillow again, this time a bit more harshly. He fell back onto the bed with a deep sigh as she climbed off him. “Okay, I’ll tell you now.” He slipped his legs out of bed, sitting upright and placing his feet on the floor.“I know how much you love the beach….so we’re going to make a visit to the beach house down the coast,” He smiled, turning to face her. Her eyes glimmered brightly as she looked back at him, “Wait, seriously?”“We have three days left to spend together. I figured we’d make the most out of it. So, I hired some people to clean it up, and after breakfast
"Wow! I love this place!" Kiara jumped up and down, clapping her hands happily as she stared at the tidal waves crashing onto the shore. It was a long drive from Luca’s home to the coast, but it was totally worth it.Even though the sun was already setting, she could still hear the squawk of the seagulls and the typical salty aroma of the beach water filled her nose. She dug her toes in the sand, spreading her arms out and letting the breeze flow through her.Luca chuckled behind her, seeing how excited she seemed to be. Nothing could get better than this, surely. He ran up behind her, lifting her into the air, which surprised her."Oh my God, Luca!" She squealed, hitting his shoulders, as she kicked her feet in the air, "You almost gave me a heart attack, jeez!" She giggled as he placed her back down on the sand.“No, I didn’t, you’re just a drama queen!” He laughed, holding her by the waist. Kiara looked around warily, there was no one on the beach at that moment, especially since t
Kiara grabbed the drinks and headed off the pier and began her walk back to the beach house. A part of her wished that Marissa would’ve stayed back, so they could talk more, but she left so quickly that even five minutes after, there was no trace of her, and she was nowhere to be seen. There was not much of a place to quickly scramble into on the pier, so it felt to Kiara like Marissa had just disappeared into thin air. She sipped her icy drink, as she pushed the door to the beach house open.“Hey Princess, where have you been?” Luca called out, standing up from an office desk in another room near the entrance and going to meet her.“Oh, I went to get us some drinks!” She grinned sheepishly, shaking the two drinks right in front of his eyes. “This is for you.” Kiara extended his beverage to him, wiping her wet hands on her shorts.“Thank you sweet cheeks.” He winked, taking the straw into his mouth and slurping up the contents.“You’re welcome. What have you been up to?” She inquired,
Kiara’s phone buzzed, and the display lit up with a notification. She dropped the sweater she was busy knitting and picked her phone up, scrolling through the notifications. It was a message from… she wasn’t so sure. Her brows furrowed as she scrolled past her message app, tapping her password in.Hey, it’s Marissa. Can we talk?Kiara’s eyes skimmed over the message as her heart thumped in her chest. The last time Marissa’s name was brought up in a conversation, Luca flipped out and told her to never interact with her again.Kiara ran her hand through her wavy hair, taking a deep breath. Her thumbs hovered over her keyboard, ready to type out a befitting reply, but she decided not to and put the phone back down on the table. She picked up the sweater and continued knitting from where she stopped. It was for Clara, who was still in the hospital regaining her strength, and Kiara wanted to give her a little gift to make her feel better. The knitting needles clinked against each other, cr
Luca paced around the room silently. It was midnight and, as usual, he was on a phone call. He kept an eye on the bed, wary of Kiara’s movement. Kiara tossed and turned in bed, as drool dribbled down her chin. She wiped her mouth, smacking her lips quietly as she turned to cuddle into Luca’s body. There was only one problem: he wasn’t there. Her eyes fluttered open slowly, but her vision was blurry and dim from the dark room. She could make out Luca standing next to the window with a phone pressed to his ear. Instead of asking him why he wasn’t in bed like she had initially planned, she squeezed her eyes shut and tried to listen in on the conversation.“There has to be some sort of leverage…” He spoke into the phone in a hushed tone. “No, no… Damian…”Those were the few words that she could make out, other than that she couldn’t hear anything. Her breathing began ragged as soon as she heard her father’s name mentioned. She sat up slowly, resting her back against the bed’s headrest. “S
Kiara stared at her father, her hand still resting on the doorknob. "Dad?" She frowned, unable to believe that it was really him."Yes, sweetheart?" He gave a little smile, pocketing his hands in his dark blue suit pants."What are you doing here?" she asked, still stunned by her father's appearance. Last, she recalled, he told her he'd be gone for three days, but it had only been two."Oh, well, the hospital tried to reach you, but they said they couldn't." He scratched his head. "So, they phoned me as a reference and updated me on Clara's health condition."Kiara moved closer, the rustle of the bags being the loudest sound in the room. "Oh, so how is she?" Kiara looked down at Clara on the hospital bed. Her lips were cracked, and her skin was becoming pale, though not much of a difference from the first time she was admitted to the hospital."Clara? How do you feel, sweetie?" Kiara asked, lightly sweeping her hair away from her eyes."I'm okay..." Clara croaked, with barely enough s
“They were just so adorable, and seeing the smiles on all their faces made me so happy, Dad.” Kiara rambled on about her previous expedition for a charity project. She was extremely passionate about helping the less privileged. The kids in the Caribbean, particularly Jamaica, didn’t have access to any water, so she and her team stayed there for a couple of weeks, making boreholes, wells, and taps for them. Of course, she was a Lux, but she didn’t misuse her power, or take it for granted. Instead, she put it towards helping others who were in need, endangered, or living in not-so-safe homes. It had become a part of her, one that she could never take away. She pointed at her phone smiling, “Look at them!” Her father, Damian Lux, watched the video to the end, feeling very proud of his one and only daughter. “And there was this lovely little girl too, she was so intelligent and beautiful, I couldn’t help but admire how strong and resilient she was.”“She told me she would go to the river
