When it was the next morning, Luke found himself getting ready to start the day with a fresh feeling. But little did he know what was in store for him.

Suddenly, Luke’s phone rang and he picked up the call without looking at the caller ID.

“Hello,”

“Hello, is this Mr. Luke Sawyer?” a female voice came out.

“Yes, and who are you?” He wondered who this girl was. He did not have any girlfriend. And he surely does not give his phone number to any of the one night stands or flings.

“I am Linda, the receptionist from the hospital you visited yesterday,” Luke’s skin went pale at the mention of her identity. He did not want to even see that woman ever again.

“What is it?” He asked coldly.

“Sir, there was a little incident that happened yesterday at the hospital and we seem to have misplaced your semen test sample. If it is possible could you please give us another sample of your semen,” she spoke softly and calmly.

“What do you mean by you misplaced it?” Luke was angry by now. He was definitely not going to do the embarrassing things again, and definitely not in the hospital.

“We are extremely sorry sir. If it is uncomfortable for you to come to the hospital, I can send one of our male staff to collect it from you,” she tried to persuade him.

Luke wanted to scream at her but refrained from doing so. He did not want to take this any further. He sighed and spoke, “Fine. Send someone to my office.” He disconnected the phone call harshly without waiting for her response. He was expecting to start this day pleasantly. But it was already ruined. Any man would be happy to have a good release in the morning but definitely not this way.

He dashed out of his room and walked straight out of the house. The cook was perplexed about his behavior. Luke could sense it. He did not have breakfast and left for work. He even had to glare at the driver and other employees because of his unpleasant mood. It is not like they complained about it. They had all become used to it by now.

Eventually, after a day or two the test results came out. And as suspected Luke did have some horrible hormonal imbalance. Dr Dylan prescribed some costly medicines for him. And Luke got treated accordingly. And over a few days, he even had recovered from the symptoms. And he was so glad that Gabriel had recommended Dr Dylan to him. He knew that his opinion was absolutely contrary to what he had in the beginning of this doctor journey.

Over these days, Ruby had taken care of herself quite well. Since she was laid off from the coffee shop, she had some spare time. And she was not looking for any other part time jobs at this moment. The ones she had now were enough for her to last until the pregnancy tests. After that, she would be moving in with Mr and Mrs Hudson. And a huge burden would be off Ruby’s shoulder. She could not be any more relaxed.

Ruby had spent all her free time with Mia. She was aware of Ruby’s insemination process. And she was a little upset that her friend had not called her to tell about it and did not take her along for moral support. But Ruby seemed to have a special place in Mia’s heart. She was convinced to let go of her disappointment.

“Come on soon. I will play it,” Ruby screamed from the bed. She was currently at her studio apartment and Mia was sleeping over. The buddies had planned to have a movie night and had brought tons of food.

“Don’t you dare play it before I come,” Mia screamed back. She was yet to finish her nightly routine. Unlike Ruby, who had wonderful skin, Mia had struggled a little with skin problems during her teens. So, she religiously followed a skin care routine and never broke it for anything.

“Fine, soon,” Ruby said and grabbed a juice bottle. She began having the snacks until her friend came. After a few minutes, Mia came out all ready to binge watch movies. 

“So, are we watching Leonardo Di Caprio?” Mia asked, taking a seat on the other side of the bed. Ruby scoffed, “We are watching Brad Pitt.” The girls giggled at their own words. “We are so much into old men,” said Mia. Ruby laughed and replied, “I feel so bad for the young guys.”

The girls began to watch the movie and at some before midnight, they had dozed off. Suddenly, Ruby’s phone began ringing loudly. The sound shrieked the girls and they were up with fear.

“Who the hell is calling you at this hour?” Mia asked. She almost had a heart attack from the sudden noise.

“I don’t know,” Ruby said and answered the phone call.

“Hello?”

“Hello, am I speaking to Ruby?” came out a female noise.

“No, it is her ghost,” Ruby replied. She was pissed off by the sudden phone call at this hour. That too from someone who she does not know.

“Uh.. I am sorry ma’am for calling you at this hour. I forgot to make a call to you earlier in the evening. But I was caught up with work and..”

Ruby did not give the woman to complete her sentence, “Can you just tell me who are you? And why have you called?” she demanded straight talk.

“Um. yes. I am calling from the hospital where you got inseminated. We need you to come to the hospital for a quick check up. We will let you know about the abrupt check up tomorrow. Please come by the hospital,” The lady said and disconnected the phone call.

“What happened?” Mia asked. She came back from the bathroom. The phone call had given an excuse for her to pay a visit to the bathroom.

“Hospital. They want me to come visit them tomorrow for a quick check up,” Ruby said worriedly. She was wondering what could be the reason for this sudden check up. There was still two or three days for two weeks to complete.
