“Zach-y, I don’t know why you won’t allow me at your penthouse anymore.” Jennifer made herself comfortable in my office.

She had started to make surprise visits to my office for the past week. Ever since Dr. Jha kicked my family out of the hospital room, the three of them seemed to attach themselves to me at the hip. I couldn’t get rid of them. I thought my headaches with my memories were painful, the things my parents now threw at me were downright torture. Then Jennifer had taken it upon herself to refuse all gifts unless they came directly from my hand.

“I told you. I’m rarely there anymore and if I am, it’s only to sleep. I don’t know if or when I’m going to have the same issue. I won’t allow anyone to be around when that happens.” I pinched the bridge of my nose.

At first, I hadn’t been keen on explaining the reason for my sudden hospitalization but I finally got fed up with the constant questions. I didn’t want anyone to see me like that. If I could help it, I wouldn’t allow Jason, Stacy, or Adrian either, but they were my check-ins now. The last thing I needed was my socialite fiancé telling everyone I had night terrors.

“You know, we haven’t had sex in weeks. I need you.”

I looked up from my laptop to see her leaning over my desk, her breasts pushed up and a smirk on her face. My eyes stared directly at her breasts before I registered what I was looking at.

“Did you get implants?” I tried to keep the disgusted tone out of my voice.

“Do you like them? I just went a couple cup sizes larger. I thought they would look lovely in the wedding dress I picked out. I know you like boobs as well.” She bit her lower lip and leaned in further.

Fake marriage. Fake love. Fake wife. Why not add fake breasts to the mix? I sighed. This woman really didn’t know what I liked. Big breasts didn’t do it for me. It was the natural look. If I’d had my way, I’d have her gain more weight to really allow her curves to be the highlight. It would be ridiculous to voice my tastes when, at the end of the day, it didn’t matter.

“Come here.”

She squealed in delight. As soon as she ran around the desk, I took her roughly by the hips and bent her over the desk. Jennifer moaned as I slapped her ass, hard.

“Next time, consult me before you make changes to your body. I have to live with those now.” I slapped her ass harder and she moaned again.

Hiking up her dress, I raised an eyebrow. “No underwear. Why, Miss Sinclair, who did you think you would be seducing today?”

“You. You…Zach…please…”

I ran my finger along her slit and slid a finger into her cunt. She moaned and started to grind against my finger. Adding another finger, I started going faster. Gripping her thigh with my other hand, I held it so tight that I had no doubt there would be bruises tomorrow. I felt her start to tighten around my fingers as I massaged her clit with my thumb. As her moans became more heated, I slipped out my fingers.

“Zach…what…no…please…baby…”

I rolled my eyes and unbuckled my belt, my dick was erect and easily sprung free as soon as I pulled down my pants. Standing up, I rubbed my tip at the entrance of her cunt.

“Is this what you wanted? This what you have been waiting for?”

“Yes…please…give it to me baby…”

I leaned over, barely sliding in. “I need you to tell me what you want. Tell me exactly.”

“I need…need your dick…in me…now…please…” Jennifer was panting as she tried to push against me, push my dick further into her.

I smirked. “Then why didn’t you just say so, darling?” I readjusted before slamming into her from behind. Letting out my own moan, I continued to rail her cunt. Jennifer let out whimpering moans as I sped up. She climaxed within minutes, but I continued my relentless fucking of her pussy as I chased my own release. Finally, I slammed into her, emptying myself before I slapped her ass one more time.

Grabbing wipes, I quickly wiped her down before wiping myself off and pulling my pants back up. “Let me get back to work, Jennifer.”

“Yes, sir.” She pulled her dress back down and smiled at me before leaving the office.

I sighed and ran my hand through my hair. I pressed the button on my phone. “Stacy, you have been lighting up my phone for the past ten minutes. What the hell do you want?”

“This…we need to talk. Is she…”

I rolled my eyes. “She is gone. You can come in.”

The phone went dead and Stacy came in with Jason and Derek, my personal lawyer, right behind them. My brow furrowed and I looked at the three of them. Jason looked like he had seen a ghost, Stacy and Derek both looked a bit panicked but confused. Stacy turned and closed the door, locking it. Jason went to all the windows and closed all the blinds. My interest was now seriously piqued.

“Did you honestly have to fuck her in the office, Zach? I mean seriously. Just leave it at home.” Stacy made a face as she started to clean up papers on my desk out of habit.

“She tried to show off her breast implants.”

Jason started to laugh. “She’s been with you for over two years and she got breast implants? Does she not know you at all?”

“It’s her own self-interest. I heard her modeling company came down on her for her recent weight gain pretty hard a few days ago. She went home to her parents, crying. Their gift? New breasts. Apparently, neither of you read the tabloids.” Stacy said, matter-of-factly.

“The girl is digging her own grave.”

Jason had sat down on the couch but wasn’t lounging. He sitting up straight on the couch and that itself was weird. Usually, he would be relaxing or would have picked up the newspaper by now. Derek seemed out of place for a moment, trying to figure out if he needed to stand or sit for this.

“Can I offer you something to drink, Derek?” I looked at him and he nodded.

“We are all going to need one. Maybe two.” Jason added, his mouth pulled into a grimace.

Nodding, I took out four glasses and made everyone a double. Walking forward, I sat down on the single chair with Derek finally sitting down next to me. Stacy sat across from me and Jason was next to her on the couch. Jason set out his laptop and opened it.

“So, remember you put me in charge of Best Man duties?”

My eyes narrowed. “Yes? Only because Adrian declined the position.”

“Yeah yeah. Well, I was doing some research into just what exactly the best man does. You know, the speech, have the rings, bachelor party…all that shit. But apparently, I’m also to make sure that the paperwork is in order with the priest and everything. Did you know that?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know what goes into a wedding, honestly. Adrian also just jumped ship and got married overseas with none of us around. So I don’t know the details.”

“Men. Typical.” Stacy rolled her eyes.

“Anyways. I decided to pull up the types of paperwork that I needed. Turns out there are the certificates and other stuff you need to provide the priest to sign and then submit to the state. Anyways, I did my usual dive into all this stuff…”

I took a sip of my drink. “On company time, of course.”

“Of course. I actually have a social life.” Jason smiled but it didn’t reach his eyes and soon faltered into a more serious look. “I decided to try and see if I could understand how to fill out the paperwork and get it all started.”

“Sure. Not seeing where Derek or I come in.” Stacy added and I looked at her, confused.

“Do you not know what is going on?”

She shook her head. “He just rushed in like a crazy person. Saying this would be the end all be all and if anyone found out we would be fucked. I mean, I haven’t seen him that hysterical since four years ago when that one girl said she was pregnant with his kid.”

We all looked at him, wide-eyed. Derek seemed to also be out of the loop as to why he was here, but the fact that Jason called him meant it was bad. What the hell could be so bad? Jason had a tendency to blow stuff out of proportion but never included a third party into his hysterics.

“Let me get through this shit. So, I go through filling out the names and submit it to be printed and it comes up with an error.”

“An error?” I heard the edge in Derek’s voice.

Jason nodded. “And I thought maybe I spelled the names wrong or something. But no, I didn’t. Then I thought, maybe our girl was hiding a secret.”

“A secret marriage? I mean, I wouldn’t put it past her.” Stacy chuckled, taking a sip of her drink. “A secret marriage to some fuck-boy in France? Anything could happen.”

“That’s the thing, though. It wasn’t her. It was Zach.” Jason looked at me, fear and worry in his eyes.

“What?” Stacy leaned forward, just as Derek leaned back in his seat, taking a full gulp from his glass.

Jason shook his head and I stared at him, shocked. “Zach…you’re married. You have been for the last three years.”

“I’m sorry…what?” It took a good five minutes before anyone could speak. I couldn’t even fathom what Jason was telling me. It was Stacy who recovered the earliest. Derek had already gotten up to refill his glass. “He’s been married. Zachary Emmett Anderson, married on May 5th in Las Vegas, Nevada to a Evelyn Harris. Married by an Elvis, but it’s an actual wedding certificate.” Jason turned the computer around to show the photocopy of the marriage certificate. Sure enough, my name was printed out in my own handwriting; as well as my signature. The woman’s name, written and signed in her own handwriting. I stared at the screen for a minute. “I wasn’t drunk when I signed this.” “What are you talking about? Of course, you were drunk! Why the hell would you say that? You were in Vegas for god’s sake.” Stacy grabbed the computer to turn it around. Her glass hovered at her lips before she cursed. “You’re right. That’s your sober signature. What the hell, Zach? What happened in Vegas afte

***Evelyn’s POV*** I heard the music from my alarm and I moaned. If someone said that waking up at 4 a.m. gets easier with time, they were lying. Lying through their damn teeth. Stretching, I reached out with my left hand to silence my phone. Rolling over, I set my feet on the ground and sighed. Wood floors, great for cleaning, freezing cold in the morning. Looking over, my son Elliot was still curled up on his side of the bed. It took him a week for him to start to sleep through my alarms. He had his own little alarms with his favorite songs that got him going in the morning. One of the songs was sung by his father and I didn’t have the heart to tell him he couldn’t listen to it. Smiling, I kissed his head and went into the bathroom for the usual morning routine. Showering, I dried off quickly and placed my brace around my upper body. Attaching my bionic arm to the socket in my shoulder, I locked it in place. Adjusting my neck, I took a deep breath and tightened the muscles in my

“Mom! I’m gonna be late!” I smiled and turned around. Elliot was running toward me in his little school outfit with his blue backpack. Patting my hands on my apron, I pulled him into a hug. “Good morning, pumpkin.” “Mmm…mmmm….we….nneeee…..goooo….” I let go and he exaggerated taking in breaths. “What’s got you so excited about school today?” “We are having animals come today and they have a frog!” Smiling, my son’s newest obsession has been frogs, but his inability to find a frog at our local parks has left him depressed for the last couple months. When he heard there were going to be animals at his Pre-K class, he specifically asked for a frog. I didn’t know if they did actually have one, but it sounded like someone made a promise he was going to hold them accountable for. “Alright, sweetheart. We will go now.” I pulled off my apron and took his hand. “Mike, I’m going to take Elliot to school. I’ll be back in a half hour.” “Sounds good. Have fun, kiddo!” Elliot went up to Mike

“I’m sorry…what?” The voice on the other end stammered. Wiping my eyes, I shook my head at Mike who sent me a worried glare. Turning, I leaned against the wall, away from the eyes of customers. “I said, what took you people so damn long? I put in requests for the divorce as soon as I heard about his engagement to that model. I didn’t hear a single reply back. Not one. Honestly, three fucking months till their wedding and you’re just calling me now?” I could hear laughter on the other end. I knew other people were listening and I wondered if he was as well. I hoped he was. I hope he could hear the spite in my voice. “I’m sorry, ma’am, there are some circumstances that prevented us previously from coming forward. However, we would like to invite you out to the office to settle everything.” “Oh yeah?” I rolled my eyes. Of course, out to them. Why am I not surprised? “You realize I run my own business and I have other things that I need to do, correct? I can’t just drop everything for

Rubbing my eyes, I looked up at the carousel with my flight information on it. I was already holding my hard case with my bionic arm in it. I found out it was much easier to carry on my arm than it was to wear it in the airport. Most of the time, they made you break it apart anyways to look at it since they can’t wand it because it’s full metal. So, it’s just better that it goes through the machine like an instrument. It was a pain to be one handed, but usually airport staff were nice enough to help. There are always exceptions to that, and New York was one of them. It was absolute chaos trying to get through this airport. Finally, one of my fellow passengers, a doctor out for a conference, was nice enough to help me when I needed it. I knew I would be going from the airport to my hotel, then directly to the office because the flight landed on time but took an extra twenty minutes to get unloaded. Sighing, I set my arm down between my legs and leaned over, eyeing my bag. Quickly grabb

His back was turned to me and he was looking out the window. I thanked the gods that I didn’t meet his eyes. I think right there I would have crumbled. But seeing his back, being reminded that all I would ever see is this man’s back made me angrier. It helped me look back down at the page and fight through the pain that now hammered in my heart. Reading over the first couple pages, I went back and started crossing out paragraphs. Fifteen million. They were offering me fifteen fucking million and part of me wanted to be a petty bitch and take them for all their pennies. I couldn’t, though. I couldn’t even take them for more than what I was thinking to help Elliot in the future. Reading through more of it, fifteen million wasn’t even all of it. They also added in a trust of five million, which I crossed out and put one million. That would cover all of Elliot’s college and then some if he wanted to invest in something for his future. Everything else I crossed out. I came to a fun clause

  • Promises Forgotten   Chapter 12

***Zachary’s POV*** “She crossed off all the money.” I didn’t move from where I had fallen back. My hand had touched her shoulder, or what was left of it. Suddenly all her movements with only her left hand made sense. She lost her arm, her whole right arm, saving me. It was enough to do so much damage they just removed it. We also weren’t in Vegas. We were in Greece, for our honeymoon. Not only had we signed the marriage certificate sober but then we had a honeymoon. “What do you mean she crossed off all the money?” Jason grabbed the papers out of Derek’s hands. “Shit. Everything but one million put into a trust account. Literally everything.” I looked at them before racing down the hallway. Jason was behind me, but I didn’t know if Stacy had also made it out. Almost sliding to a stop, I saw her, standing in front of the elevators. Every time I laid eyes on her my heart did flips. When I walked in and looked at her, her head down reading the document, I thought I was going to los

Peeling my eyes open, I was met with the familiar throbbing headache. It hit differently with an extra burn in the stomach and throat. Slowly sitting up, I looked around. I was in bed, which I didn’t remember being in. Hell, I didn’t even remember coming inside. The last thing I remembered sitting out in the rain, strumming and singing. I felt better. I felt better minus the copious amount of whiskey that was burning its way through my veins. Sitting up, I was still in my dress shirt and slacks. I discarded them and pulled on some sweats. Making my way down the stairs, I opened up the fridge and grabbed some milk. I needed something to coat my stomach at this point. I didn’t even know what time it was. There was still an edge of fuzziness that confirmed I’d drank enough that I hadn’t slept it off. “Welcome back to the land of the living.” Spewing milk over the counter, I nearly jumped out of my skin as Adrian popped his head up over the couch. “Fucking hell. Dumbass, don’t scare th

I thought it was my father shaking hands with people as they walked in, but I realized that there was no grey hair. I was looking at Adrian. Evie touched my arm, and the metal was cold. It jolted me to glance at her and there was a concerned look on her face. “Sorry. I saw Adrian for a second.” I whispered in her ear. “Why do you look like you saw a ghost, then?” I looked down at her, my lips pressed together in a thin line. “Because I thought he was my father.” Her eyes widened and then she nodded. The grip she had on my arm tightened and we waited in line for the final photo to be taken. Walking in front of the logo, I stood with Evie close to my left side. Rissa was in my arms, and Elliot between us. I hadn’t spoken to my father since the night I told him I was done. He had tried to worm his way back into the company and bring his Mafia influence with him. At first, I was able to fight alongside Adrian until my father started to give Adrian something he always wanted, recognit

***Three years later*** “Honestly, I don’t know how I agreed to this. You know I don’t do this shit anymore.” I huffed, looking in the mirror. “One, it’s for charity. A charity that we frequently work with and help out. Second, your brother is actually putting this on. You haven’t seen him in two years, Z. It’s getting ridiculous.” Sighing, I shook my head. “I have a reason for that, Evie. It’s not all going to go away.” “I get that, Z but he is still your brother. You help him from the shadows and he doesn’t even know. It’s ridiculous. Just confront him.” “At a charity event with a red carpet and all the kids there.” Evie let out an exasperated growl. “For fuck’s sake, Zachary Anderson, grow up. I swear to god.” “Mom! Fuck is a bad word!” “Then why did you say it, Elliot?” She called back. “Shit!” I looked out the door. “Elliot!” He chuckled. “Sorry, Dad. Rissa is ready, as am I.” I walked out, rolling my shoulders and adjusting my sleeves. It had been so long since I dr

Evie was waiting for me at the elevators, behind the row of security so that none of the reporters could sneak onto the upper floors. I lifted Elliot up and held him, also reaching out for Evie’s hand. We entered the elevator and Jason raced in. He shook his head. “That was ridiculous. I can’t believe you just decided to chill with the reporters.” Shrugging, I stole a kiss from Evie. “I’m enjoying this…being relaxed. If I could have shown up in jeans without the stock market plummeting, I would have.” “It absolutely would have dropped by ten points at the very least.” Jason laughed as he pressed two different buttons and the elevator started to rise. He turned, holding his hand out to Evie. “It’s nice to meet you. It’s been a crazy few weeks but I feel like we are friends already. Especially if you have the patience to handle him.” Jason nodded in my direction. I tightened my hold of her hand but eventually she shot me a glare and pulled it out to shake his hand. “You as well. While Stacy, Elliot, Evie, and I drove together, Stacy and I went in the back way to the office, meeting up with Jason and his full security team. Evie would enter through the front and find a space to watch the press conference. Elliot wanted to see it, since I refused to tell him what was going on in the company beforehand. He had asked his mom multiple times to check her phone to see the stock prices of A.A.W., as he called it. Taking a deep breath, I pulled up my talking points on my tablet, choosing to not go with a prompter because it just seemed silly. Adrian was worried about it, but he just wasn’t used to being in the limelight. Not while I was around. Looking around, I tried to find Adrian, but he wasn’t anywhere. “Where is he, Stace?” “I don’t know! I called Nicole but she said he left at six in the morning, and she hasn’t heard from him either.” Cursing, I looked at my watch. We did not have time for this. We were supposed to go out in five minutes. I wanted to go over

I looked at myself in the mirror. It had been a while since I was in a full three-piece suit and tie. It felt uncomfortable. I looked like my father. Sighing, I asked to see another tie. The associate disappeared and I wondered where Stacy was. Usually, she was my style compass when it came to these sorts of things. All I wanted to do was to wear the jeans and button-up shirt that I had gotten used to lately. “If that’s what you are going with, I wonder if anyone will take you seriously.” My eyes widened and I whipped around, watching Evie walk toward me. She was smiling brightly and I nearly dissolve into tears right there. She was wearing dark jeans and a shirt with a band I didn’t know; her usual combat boots on her feet. Her hair was pulled up in a ponytail, no makeup, and she looked like the goddess I knew and loved. “Dad!” Elliot came running up and jumped into my arms. I caught him and planted a kiss on his cheek. He was wearing jeans and a dinosaur t-shirt with a backpack, h

A pin could drop and it would shatter the windows with the sound of it. Those who didn’t know, their mouths were wide open. Those who did were smirking. I lifted up my hand and spun the ring around my finger. How it still managed to fit perfectly still boggled my mind. I always meant to ask Evie more about her father, but she wouldn’t say much about him. I always figured it was still a loss she felt deeply. She had more time with her father than I did with my mother, but he was also all she had. He was a single father and that made him all the more important in her life. Looking up, I smiled. “Jennifer, have you ever been to Greece?” “Once or twice.” “There is an island, Zakynthos. My parents have a summer home there, it’s lovely. The beaches are beautiful and it’s just an all-around experience. I went there for three weeks for my honeymoon, and it was spectacular. I would highly recommend it.” Jennifer spit out the wine she was drinking, coughing slightly. I looked over at my pare

Pulling up to my parent’s house, I sighed. Stacy and Jason were also with me, since they had been added to family dinners long before they entered the company. Waiting for a moment, I stared up at the looming shadows of the house. “Zach, you okay?” Stacy put her hand on my arm. I nodded, but didn’t look back at her. “There are two ways I can play tonight. One, I can be straightforward and upfront with them. Explain everything as best I can and just walk out of there. Step up to my father man to man and have an adult conversation with him.” Jason snorted. “Please. You fucking hate the man. You could never just sit and talk with him.” Smiling, I looked up at the two of them. “Or I can go in there and throw everything in their face. I can make the biggest scene I can and show them I don’t care about anything they say.” “At this point, I think balls in is the only way to go. They destroyed you, destroyed your happiness. I think it’s time they get a taste of their own medicine.” Jason

Stretching, I leaned back on the couch in my old office. Adrian had taken over the office already and all my stuff had been sent to the office in LA. It had been chaos for the past three days. Projects getting moved and adjusted while debriefing Adrian on all of them. The lack of their CEO didn’t seem to be part of the talk. It was mostly that Adrian was now going to all the meetings. My father had noticed it too, but I just brushed him off. My phone buzzed and I looked at the caller ID. Brow furrowing, I stood up and walked over to the window. I leaned against them and held up my phone at eye level, answering the video call. “Evie?” “Dad!” A smile filled my face as I saw the bright look from my son. He seemed like he was sitting on the bathroom floor from the background. “What are you doing with your mom’s phone?” “She won’t notice. She is talking with Uncle M. I said I was going to read.” Sighing, I shook of my head. “It’s not good to lie to your mom and sneak around, Elliot.
