chapter twenty- seven

**Cassandra's POV**

"Cassandra, what happened?" Jennie asked, her voice full of concern as she opened my bedroom door. She found me pale, trembling uncontrollably. Her eyes widened when she saw me packing clothes into a small bag with shaking hands.

I tried to speak, to open my mouth and explain, but the words wouldn’t come out. It was as if something invisible was choking me, blocking my voice. Fear and uncertainty wrapped around me, and all I could do was keep throwing clothes hastily into the bag, trying to suppress the panic.

Jennie realized the seriousness of the situation the moment her eyes landed on the bag. She immediately slammed the door shut and locked it, her face contorted with shock. I saw her lips moving, forming the words that hit me like a slap:

"Are you crazy? This is too dangerous!"

“I… I’m sorry, Jennie, but I can’t stay here!” I finally replied, my voice tense and broken, as I tried to take a deep breath. The truth burned inside me, but I knew I couldn’t tell Jen
