RAFAELThe joy which I felt in my heart was beyond anything that I could bring myself to explain. It filled me up to the brim and I could feel it overflowing as I drove back to the house. A part of me had felt it was not going to work and I would have to hand over Athena to Hermes which would mean that he definitely has won. I had not expected that he would ask for my estate and everything that made me me, but the more I thought about it, the more sense it made.If I was in his shoes I most likely would do the same thing as well. It made sense for him to want to cripple me and take away my resources totally. I had half expected him to try to kill me there and then and maybe he would have tried to do it if I didn’t have the sniper trained on him. He already knew that if any of his men pulled the trigger, the chances of him making it out of there was extremely slim. There was no way he was going to want to die in a warehouse when he could leave to try to fight me another day. I knew Her
ATHENAImmediately I opened my eyes, they were greeted by the warm rays of sunlight that seeped in through the open windows. This was the first time in a very long time that I was having a very good rest and my heart was actually at peace. I knew it shouldn’t be because we were not completely out of the clear, but for some strange reason, I felt completely relaxed about everything.I sat up in bed and looked around, taking in the scene of the room as I thought about what today held. Being cooked up in the room and house all day had proven to be extremely boring but after all the recent activities that had happened, I knew exactly why I had to be in the house. A part of me was still scared that my father would do something completely crazy, for some strange reason, I couldn’t completely shake that feeling. This was the exact same way I had felt before we learnt about the abduction of Rafael’s mother. I didn’t know what to make of it though and so I brushed it to the back of my thoughts
RAFAELI woke up in a very good mood today. This was the first time in a very long time that something like this happened and I was sure I was going to embrace it. I remember giving my mother a huge hug goodbye before I stepped out of the house to the office. My assistant had been trying to reach me for weeks now to tell me about problems in the office but then I was facing my own problems so I had been blowing her off. I couldn’t do that anymore. I had to turn into the office today and have a couple of meetings to ensure that the business which I had setup was still running smoothly. It was a pain in the ass but it still had to be done.Today, it didn’t feel like a pain though because of the mood I had found myself in. I was sitting on the chair in the office trying to get through the mountain of paperwork and files which had stacked up on my desk over the past few days. Corporate life was definitely not for me but then I had to do it in order to maintain my status. This was how my i
Rachael lay in her room in the house as she thought about everything that was going on all around her. She had purposely boycotted the dinner last night because she was in no mood to share in the festivities that all of them were taking part in. They were acting like they had won and that the war was over when this was certainly only the beginning. If there was anybody that knew this very well, then it was certainly her.Given how closely she had worked with Hermes, she was well aware of everything that he was capable of. The depths in which he would go to come after people who he felt had wronged him totally was beyond anything that they could even imagine. They had no idea about this because they had not been with him for as long as she had been. They felt they knew the depths of Hermes’s evil but they were not aware that what they knew was only the surface level. Rachael had watched Hermes order hits on whole communities just because they refused to pay their dues to him. She had w
ATHENAMy heart had still not stopped beating frantically from the moment I stepped into the car. I kept on thinking about everything that had happened and what was going to happen. I had still not yet figured out what I was going to say and the time of reckoning was drawing closer and closer. Every time my eyes locked with Rafael’s mom’s, she shot me a smile and a look of reassurance, as if telling me everything will be alright without actually saying any words.I understood that she was trying her best to calm me down but nothing seemed to be working at that very moment. I hadn’t seen that bastard in months ever since he got married and now I was just going to show up at his doorstep with a baby in my belly. It was definitely going to be weird and I had no idea how he was going to take it.So many scenarios were running through my head as I sat in the car, tapping onto my knees, rhythmically. It was a method that I had developed many years ago in order to calm myself down when I was
RAFAELThere I sat, packed outside the building which I had just seen Athena walk into. I still couldn’t see who was in the driver’s seat of the car but whoever it was, the person was definitely in a lot of trouble. I had given very clear instructions that she was not to be let out of the house. I had made myself very clear on the matter and I definitely did not expect that anybody would go against my orders.None of what I was witnessing made sense to me, as I sat in the car trying to decode everything. I had followed the car when I saw Athena in it and all through the car ride, my mind kept on trying to decode where she was going to and what was going on but I couldn’t think of anything absolute. Everything I thought kept on pointing to one thing and I didn’t want to believe it. I didn’t want to believe that she could possibly betray me and still be taking her father’s side, especially after everything that she had heard and seen. From the looks of things, it seemed like I was wrong
ATHENAThe shock was very evident on my face as I stood there, trying my best to comprehend what I was witnessing. I had seen everything unfold before my very eyes but I still couldn’t believe it. It had all happened so fast and I didn’t even have time to react to anything that was being done. I just stood there with my hands over my mouth in complete shock. Rafael was on top of Justin and was furiously pounding down on him like his life depended on it. It was obvious to me that if this continued then Justin was going to die.Out of my subconscious, I could hear screams of panic and worry but I was not sure exactly where they were coming from. Were they coming from me? Oh my God, I was the one actually screaming my lungs out, as I tried to call attention to the scene that was going on. The neighborhood where the apartment was in was very quiet and serene which was why I had chosen it for me and Justin in the first place. There were not many neighbors and no one was really walking arou
“What the fuck are you doing in my room?” Hernandez asked, as he walked into the room.He was just returning from his meeting with Rafael and right off the bat, he had figured out that his door had been messed with. He had a security system of his own in place; a piece of paper which he lodged at the top of the door. It was very easy to miss for anybody who was not looking out for it but then it made him know if someone had been in his room or not. He had not needed to do this before, but ever since he listened to the conversation between Rachael and Rafael where she suspected he was the mole, he had decided to take more precautionary steps in his dealings.Rafael was not the problem since he knew that he trusted him beyond a doubt. The major problem, the thorn in his life was Rachael and he still had not figured out a way to get her out of the picture. He had half suspected it was her that had made her way into the room but then he was shocked to still find her inside the room when h
