I feel my heart thumping in panic when I see the wolves headed toward me. ‘This is it,’ I think. ‘I’m finished.’

I drop the Breeder with a light thump and look around, trying to assess my best route of escape. The wolves are headed toward me in a close group, so it’s possible I can sneak
