Susan's POV
I paced around in the empty building as Mark shouted all he could. I wanted that lady gone and now she is but what of my beloved? Did Bryan get hurt? I can't stop the feeling inside me that tells me that I am no longer a living human once he's back…if he's back.
We shall mourn them both, there's no way he's going to survive that water and he didn't have the key to release Danielle. I suppose she's dead. That's for stopping me when I wanted to hit her in her face and many other things she has caused me without knowing.
“Are you crazy!” Mark shouted. I have had enough of his screams and nagging, there is nothing he can do about it at this point. He also wanted Bryan gone and he is gone, I just have a faint faith that he is somewhere out there and he would come for me. I wouldn't wait till then
When we got outside, we. found everyone dead. We have done more harm than good and I regretted being a part of t
Isabelle's POV Too tragic, just too tragic. Here I was, thinking I was going to be the one to end Danielle's life. Who dated and tampered with her life when I was still on my planning track. I paced around the house, should I be worried? I have always wanted her gone but I wanted to do it myself. I sighed and sat on the couch. It's the Lord's will to keep me out of trouble though, it would have been a tough game if I had been the one and I got caught. The point is she's gone, now what about Bryan? All over the news, it's stated that they are both missing but Danielle is suspected to be dead and that was good news. She's the only obstacle in my way since high school, then and now. Mom came out of the kitchen. Since Bryan broke up with me, she has decided not to talk to me anymore. My family doesn't feel like a family anymore, we are broke and they assume it's my fault. She passed across and glanced at me before heading to the room. I think I regret putting my brother off when he
Danielle's POVBryan and I left and went back to the city. We started our search from the place we left them. There was no one there and the place had been investigated by the police. They had wrapped the place with red tape and marked the ground as a place no one should step on.There were no dead bodies, nothing. Our car on the other hand was still there. The key was on the ground somewhere close. Bryan took the key and started the car. We drove back home and had our bath first. He suggested that the kids would be with Clara, Jack or Gabriel.I was a bit calm and decided to take a shower too. When I was done, I wore Bryan's new shirt and pants and went into his car.“What are you doing, Danielle?” He said and laughed. Honestly, I was looking so ludicrous in his dress. The shirt was too big and the pants were too long. I didn't mind, I just wanted to see my kids.I laughed and sat in the driver's seat. He stood by the door and bent down to look at me. “There's no way I'll allow someo
Danielle's POVBryan's Mother took my hand and led me to her room. She told Bryan and the kids to keep themselves busy by making pizza. She gave them her recipe book and told them to make it perfect. According to her, she didn't want Bryan to know about what she wanted to ask of and that makes me think. I sat across from her on an old wooden chair that had beautiful floral carvings on it. The chair was made from a very hard timber, I could tell from how firm it stood. It's the kind of chair you'd want you to trust when sitting on it.She poured me coffee in a tiny little teacup. It looked like those teacups traditional Chinese people used back in the day. There was also a floral design on it. It took me time to notice, the whole room was decorated with flowers and all cups and mugs and all the things in the room had floral designs on them. I wonder if she had a flower tattooed on her body.“Here,” she stretched out the cup to me and I received it with thanks. All along, she kept a br
Bryan's POVPeace. It's a natural thing to feel but this felt out of the world. It felt like a state where one was on the moon with access to full oxygen and food with his wife and kids. This kind of life where there is no noise and you can do whatever you wish, that's how I feel.Having kids around me, kids I never knew existed, and a wife I didn't see coming, what more can I ask for as grace? I have received enough grace and now, it's overflowing. I love Danielle, but I have to come to realize that I love her too much.I'm scared of losing her and I am also scared of keeping her and hurting her but I know I would never want to hurt her. She has done a lot for me and she has endured enough, it's time for her to rest and keep calm. Ben showed up at my house unannounced. It was a shocking visit but I was glad that he met my kids and my wife with me. Calling her my wife isn't out of context, right? Well, what was important was that she was now part of a family she had gathered together
Susan's POVI never knew life could be this hard. I have acted the character in prison but it wasn't this hard. I never thought I would be one of those who would wear this Orange uniform even when I haven't been sentenced or anything. Currently, I am nothing but a suspect for killing those people. “For the hundredth time, I am asking you how those people died,” Detective Henry asked again. For a couple of weeks now, he has been trying to investigate me, asking me questions and pushing me to say I killed those men but I didn't.“And for the hundredth time, I am telling you I know nothing about it. What evidence do you have that I killed those people? I don't even know them.” “I won't question you any further. If not today, then tomorrow.” he left me and they took me back to that stinking cell. There was no toilet or bathroom in the cell, I had to put all my poop in a plastic bag and sleep with it every day because there was no place to dispose of it. I thought prisons used to be ver
Bryan's POV It was just as Jack had told me. They planned on leaving the country soon. I'm sure she knew there was no way she was escaping this. She stared at me like I was a ghost, perhaps that was what she wanted me to be at the moment. I could tell she was delusional. She didn't know if I was real or fake and I didn't care less. I stood there, blocking her way. I wanted to know what she would do next, play a little game with my prey. She stood up and picked up her bag in the process. Her hands still trembled as she passed by my side as if she didn't see me and went to sit at the end of the lobby. I didn't follow her, I went down there, where I stood. I knew when it was time, she would be called but she wouldn't ever be seen in that plane. I would make sure she feels the same pain Danielle felt, the only difference is that there is no one coming to save her. When it was her time to go onbroad, I allowed the little girl she came with to board the plane. When she stood up, I stopp
Danielle's POV I’ve been with Bryan’s mother for weeks and he hasn’t come back home since he left that day. Our conversations have been on the phone all day long. I sat on the couch with my legs crossed and my phone to my ear. “When are you coming back? You told me you’d be back in a few days, what’s stopping you now?” I asked him over the phone. He sounded apologetic but he told me he didn’t mean to. He said he had some things to solve and some deals he had to work on. “I’ll be back tomorrow, I promise. How are the kids?” He asked. I looked around, but they weren’t anywhere near. “I’ll call you went they are closer.” “I love you.” I smiled and hung up the phone. Living without him was making me miss him too much. I found Mom in the garden picking up some flowers. I joined her and picked up some lilies at the far end of the garden. I have never stepped in the garden, all I did was watch the kids play in it from a traceable distance. It's big now that I'm in it and the sweet smel
Danielle's POVI sat behind the counter at the far end of the room and listened as Mother explained how she met me and what Bryan told her to her husband. I felt like I was in a cage, the man’s voice was too intimidating, and my heart raced. Everything around me gave me reasons to go home and escape whatever was to come. I could sense it. Questions and questions, rejection but I had self-control. “Don’t show any sign of weakness,” o told myself. That sentence has helped me a lot and I hoped it would not disappoint this time.Mila and Lila came out and bumped into the scene. “And who are these?” The old man asked. I stood up to answer him but my kids’ mouth beat me to it.“Hi, I’m Mila and this is Lila.” She glanced over her and pointed to Ella who sat by my side. “That is Ella and my Mom sitting over there and this is my Grandma. What’s your name, sir?” That’s the cutest Mila has ever been. Her voice has never been so soft and understandable. She was detailed with her words and made
Bryan’s POV The sound of a gunshot made me rush outside, Danielle was outside. I found Danielle’s lifeless body, swimming in her blood. I knelt and screamed so loud, I didn’t hear myself. The air, once familiar, became thick with an unbearable weight, and the pulse of grief pulsed through my veins with every beat of my heart. Emotions collided like storm-tossed waves — disbelief, anguish, and a profound sense of loss that threatened to consume me. I shook her body but she gave no response. “Danielle!” “Finally, goodbye Bryan. I’ll see you later.” I looked up and found Susan leaving. I thought she was dead. I lifted her and took her into the car, I could lose everything but not Danielle. I took her to the hospital where she was attended to immediately. They did all they could but I knew… I knew she was gone. She is the first treasure I had and now… I lost her. How careless of me.Every sound and strength drained in me. We had goals…we had things we wanted to do and…having her leave m
Danielle's POV I opened my eyes and finally, it was a new day with no worries and sorrow, although I would have to go and meet Pa Bruno and let him know all that happened. We all got in the car and went down to meet Pa Bruno. He welcomed us with a warm heart, he has always been that way. “What a lovely surprise,” he said when he opened the door. The kids rushed inside with their father. When I fit inside, I found Isabelle helping Mrs Helena with her hair. “Oh,” I said when I saw her.“Oh…”“I… what are you doing here?” I asked. “She volunteered to come and help us once in a while to pay for all the bad things she has done to you. She has been coming for a couple of months now,” Mrs Helena explained.I sat down beside her. “I um… I didn’t know you would be coming around. I should get going, I’ll see you all later.” She hurried and packed her bag. “Hey,” I laughed. “Where do you think you are going to? You can stay, you don’t need to leave.”“I want to stay but I need to leave, I’ll
Danielle's POV “Tell me it’s a lie,” I said to him but he didn’t answer me. I trusted him with my whole heart, he was like my best friend. What would the kids think? What of his family? Why!“Are you truly what they have called you out to be?” The judge asked him. “I am what they said I am. I give up. Yes, I killed Susan and yes, I framed Bryan for it. I wanted him to rot in hell and never come back. He took it all from me, everything.” Have looked at me, tears clouding his eyes. “I love you Danielle, you know I do. The kids… they used to be my kids. I was there where you were pregnant, when you gave birth and I also watched them grow up. Seeing Bryan take it all from me broke my heart and no matter how much I try to be there for you, you never see me. And that bitch, Susan. She deserved it. She was always after you so I didn’t want that. I figured there is no reason for me to lie when I am busted.”He turned to the judge. “You have heard it all.” Someone went to the judge and whispe
Danielle's POV ran out to the door and found the woman walking up the stairs. “Are you—”“Lead the way, quick!” The woman said and I led her to the court. It was the moment the judge was sentencing Bryan but he held it when he saw me come in with a lady. Everyone looked back and I took her to the panel. I winked at the defendant and he knew what to do. He stood up immediately. “My Lord, one and only witness, please,” he begged. All my oceans of despair were now replaced by a world of hope. The judge accepted it like he had been waiting for me to show up with someone. But sighed and went back to sit. The kids stretched their necks and waved from the far end of the row. I smiled and focused on the woman. She stepped in and took the oath. “My name is Margret and I will be telling you what exactly happened that night. This man,” she pointed to Bryan, “came in with a lady into my old house. He had asked me to lend it to him for a moment but I thought he was going to have sex or something
Danielle's POV I roamed about with the phone plugged into my ears. “Pick up, goddamit.” I have been trying this woman’s number for seven hours. It’s night time and there has been no response. I am starting to think it was all a lie. Maybe the woman doesn’t exist but Jack keeps putting me on.Eventually, I went to sleep with my phone in my ears. The next day, I woke up and found Jack making the call. I have not heard from Linda or Gabriel. I have tried all I can and it’s just a few hours to the trail. We have no evidence, nothing to prove him innocent. “I have an idea. The witness made mention of returning the instrument to the house. I would go and check the house out. There would be footage. Keep trying the woman, we will meet in the court.” He left with the Benz car. I feel like I am restraining him from doing a lot of things in his life and all he does now is go and look for evidence to prove his boos innocent. I sighed, I just have to keep trying. I kept calling the woman… duri
Danielle's POV “What did he say?” Jack asked in haste. “He has evidence. An old woman who takes care of the old house. He says he knows where she is but he wouldn’t tell me unless I come over to his house. He also said I should come alone.”“It’s a trap. He might not have any evidence. We need to find our means and besides, he might want to kill you. He’s unpredictable so I would not allow you to go alone.”I raised my brows. “I’m not taking any chances. I would go and I would go alone. I would be perfectly fine.” I took a small knife from the table. “Just in case he tries shit, I will stab him wherever I can. I would be fine, trust me. What if this is my best shot? What if this is the only thing that can help me get Bryan out of there? I am not letting it go just like that. I’ll be back. “Jack stood in front of me. “Then let me put a tracker on you.” He attached it to my phone. “You can go now.”I followed the map and went to the location Mark sent me. The road that led to the plac
Danielle's POV I didn’t get to see Bryan that day, not even the slightest chance. Jack, Linda, Gabriel and I have been looking for ways to get better evidence but it was to no avail. I made posters and shared it around for people to see if they could help. With the current way things are, the judge just bought me time to find a way to outrun what the prosecutor had in hand. Whatever they were planning, it’s not going to be good.I sighed and paced around my room. It felt as though a fog of shadows was blinding me from seeing what I should see, doing what I should do but I do know that somewhere out there, there is an answer to the problem I have at hand.I sighed. “What do you think we can do now? I mean, we have done everything we can,” I said to Jack who was also thinking of a way to get his boss out of his mess. The alarm rang and the phone rang as well. I ran to take the call. “Hello?”“Honey, it’s not nice to hear your sweet voice again.” I have waited for a long time to finally
Danielle's POV It was another opportunity for me to see Bryan again. I have been denied the right to visit him and this is just two weeks. I sat at the front as planned. Linda and Gabriel also sat beside me. When Bryan came in, his eyes dazzled around to look for something that was equally looking for him. I stood up and he saw me. Pain and sorrow waited in front of my chest to pierce my heart with its spares of hope. His lips curved upward as he sat down and took his eyes off me. All I wanted to do at that point was walk into the board, take my husband, and leave. A warm hand cooled my temper. I looked at Linda and she smiled. It helped me to get myself together. Then the trial started. The mass media were around, the jury, the prosecutor… defendant… everyone was gathered together once again. The prosecutor started. “My lord, may I?” He asked the judge and he gave him a go-ahead. “Some two weeks ago, the suspect, Mr Bryan Smith was charged with violence and was sentenced to a yea
Danielle’s POV I have gone to eighteen different paper companies to look for which would accept and publish my side of the story but they all turned me down and said they couldn’t help the wife of a criminal. Of course, I can’t let that stop me from trying other means. I wrote a lengthy article on my Instagram page and posted it. Settling in my office, I went through my Instagram page. I’m a rampage, all I read were hateful comments and speeches about how I and Bryan killed Susan. No…this isn’t going to work. The latest news now is about how Bryan would have to face the court again tomorrow. Fucking Jury, I did everything I could. “Linda, can you… can you help me work on the case? I need everything I can find but I can’t do this alone. I need you, I need everyone. Fuck!” I said to Linda in a hurry. I slammed my hand on the table and paced the room with my hand on my forehead. I needed to cool down, I needed to be calm in this time of bad luck.“You need to calm down, alright?”“I!”
