Chapter 24

As Victoria and I parted ways, I could hear the sound of John's car pulling up outside. I walked towards the window and saw him getting out of the car with some bags in hand. Bella, the new maid, rushed out to help him, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards her.

As I walked back to the bed edge, I heard a knock on the door. I knew it was John, and my heart skipped a beat as I opened the door to let him in. He gave me a tight hug and a kiss on the cheek, and I felt a sense of joy wash over me.

But as he rubbed his hands on our unborn child, I felt a sudden cramp and winced in pain. John immediately stopped and looked at me with concern. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft and gentle.

I nodded, trying to reassure him. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little cramp."

John looked relieved and rubbed my belly again, this time more gently. "Sorry about that," he said. "I didn't mean to hurt you."
