The doctor immediately rushed over to examine Ellen, then said, “Her body temperature is 39.9 degrees. She has a high fever. She probably fainted due to prolonged exertion combined with a cold, which turned into an acute cold.”

Jacob frowned.

Ellen was sick because she helped Xavia.

His eyes dimmed, and guilt welled up inside him as he watched the doctor put Ellen on an IV drip and place a fever patch on her forehead. After the doctor left, he stayed by her bedside and monitored her body temperature.

Half an hour later, her body temperature, which had just decreased slightly, increased once again. Jacob immediately fetched a basin of water, wrung the towel, and put it on Ellen’s forehead. After that, he went to look for some medicine to cool her down physically.

It took several hours, along with the medication, for Ellen’s body temperature to finally return to normal. However, she still seemed weak and had no signs of waking up.

Jacob called the doctor to check on her again.
